Sunrise Safari-DAKV

I'm assuming that Concierge guests at DAKV can book the sunrise safari, right? Can any other DAKV guests, or only those staying Concierge? How difficult is it to book-do people book it months ahead of time, or when they get there? And how expensive is it? I thought I'd read that it was around $150, but recently I saw a figure of less than half of that? Any reviews from someone who's done it?

Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is exclusive to concierge guests staying at AKL/AKV. It is offered on Thursdays and Sundays. The safari starts at 6:30 A.M. if the park opens at 8 A.M. & it starts at 7:30 A.M. if the park opens at 9 A.M.

The cost is $55.00 for adults and $27.50 for children 3 to 9. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy.

How difficult is it to book-do people book it months ahead of time, or when they get there?

You can book it up to 180 days in advance. There is a limit to the number of people who can participate so you should book as early as possible.

That sounds like the price for the Wanyama (aka Sunset) Safari that is held on the AKL/V savannas, followed by dinner at Jiko. I've seen a price of $160/person (for ages 10+) for that safari. Guests not staying in Concierge can participate in that one but it will cost more, $210/person I think.

Is there any way around the concierge guests loophole or is it worth trying to more to that level for one night for the experience?

No way around it. You have to be a concierge guest. You actually check in for the Sunrise Safari in the lounge, and you need a key to get into the lounge area off the elevator - at least you did at one time. Before you board the bus they actually swip your park ticket in the lounge too. You enter AK through the back door, and don't swipe your park key as normal.

Rats! So it sounds like this scenario won't work: Say I'm staying at AKL, but in a regular room, SUnday nite. I'm staying in Concierge Monday nite. But then I'm checking out to fly home Tuesday morning. I can't do the sunrise safari Monday morning, because at that hour of the morning I won't have a room key yet. And I probably can't do it Tuesday morning, unless I've got a late flight. In other words, it doesn't look like staying in Conceirge for one night, especially if it's the last night of my trip, will work.

That won't work because the sunrise safari is only offered on Sunday and Thursday mornings

No, you would have to be staying Saturday night or Wednesday night to take advantage of the Sunrise Safari. We are staying AKV concierge next month. We check into concierge on Sunday the 2nd and out on Thursday the 6th, so we are doing the sunrise safari on Thursday morning. We are also doing the sunset safari, but that is on Monday evening.
