We're contemplating Vero next July. How would you compare how hot it is there in July with how hot it is at WDW? Is it just as humid or worse than WDW? Do they get the afternoon thunderstorms too?

Thanks friends

We were just in Vero and met some people who had split their vacation between Orlando and Vero. You can't compare the two. Inland vs. Oceanfront. Crowds and lines vs. pool and beach. Thats why I'm doing WDW in January.

I agree with Desperado, the sea breeze makes a big difference.

still rains often though LOL

Right at the resort, the sea breeze will make a major difference. If you head inland just a few miles (like to a shopping mall) you won't see a big difference in the heat coming off the asphalt and the heat in WDW.

They do get afternoon storms but they are not as dramatic as in Orlando where the air from both the East and West Coast collide.

In the winter months, you will find Vero to be slightly warmer than Orlando because the Gulf Stream begins right off Vero -- the start of the tropical area of Florida.

Well, we were at WDW last July and it was very hot, but we took breaks and drank a lot of water!! It wasn't totally unbearable, we did all 4 parks and still had a great time despite the heat. We just got back from Vero a few days ago and it was also very hot! But you have to remember, we spent every day by the pool and the ocean. The water was wonderful and unless you were laying out in the sun, it was really not bad. One is a sight-seeing vacation in the heat and the other is a beach-bum vacation in the heat!! I'd go for the latter!! Good luck on your decision, neither one is really a bad one!!

We just split our vacation between the two a couple weeks ago and found Vero to be much better for us in the summer heat. There was no breeze to speak of at WDW, and it was so humid (along with the heat). My one DD with asthma needed her inhaler every day at WDW and we took breaks in the afternoon.

At Vero, my DD did not need her inhaler, she was fine and happy and had a wonderful time. We didn't really 'think' of the heat while we were there (of course we were wet most of the time we were outside).

For us, it's always been cooler at VB than at WDW. In May, it was so HOT at WDW and we then went over to VB and it didn't seem nearly as hot even though the temps were the same.

We were at VB last July and I have to agree with the above posters. The ocean breeze makes a big difference!

We were in VB 7/3 thru 7/8 and then at BCV 7/8 thru 7/10. Even with no wind a few days VB was considerably more comfortable. The asphalt comment is true...WDW is just hotter because of the acres and acres of paved over swamp there. We have been in Florida over the last six 4th of Julys and Orlando is always oppressive, the Atlantic side next hottest and the Gulf Coast south of Tampa Bay the most comfortable (breezy). The sun is intense everywhere this time of year.

We were in VB last November and it was on the cool side while WDW was perfect.

So it all really comes down to what you can stand and when you can travel.
