Summer fun. Hopefully

I just booked four nights in Ottawa for September. Wanted to visit Quebec City, but it is astronomically expensive. We love Ottawa and it’s a shorter drive too. We may not go, but the reservation is there if I want it. We will all be fully vaccinated (with immunity via 2 wk wait) by end of August. It might be fun! I used to live in Ottawa back in the late nineties. Great city.

For those wanting to know, Wonderland is only allowing passholders to hold 2 reservations at a time. So that should allow for others to be able to get reservations easier.

I'm just hoping for one day in the first two weeks of August... the water park looks nice too but I'm not clear on if that's a second ticket or how much it is. But in any case, kiddo will be happy if I book something for us. It's been a long stretch (for everyone) with no real vacation. I did consider getting a season pass since it is good for the 2022 season as well, but I'm not sure I want to have to go back lol, I am not good on the rides, kiddo loves them, faster and higher the better, but not me.

The water park is included in your park admission ticket with no extra charge.
We have been seasons pass holders for the past 8 years (not including 2020) and often would go there just for the water park. Not sure whether we will renew this year or not. My daughter said everyone she knows plans to get their seasons passes by tomorrow night to get ready to book on Thursday. Canada’s Wonderland will be extremely busy with not much travel happening this summer.

The water park is included with your ticket. You do need to reserve it.

I think I’m going to buy tickets tonight to be ready. Is there a wonderland app you can use to reserve? I’m hoping to get a reservation for the second week they are open.

This is going to be like getting those hard to get fpp and adrs 😄

They have an app you can download. Wonderland suggests at least one person in your party has the app when you go to the park

Ok, I bought tickets and a one day parking pass for Wonderland, now to wait and see when we can get to use them :) I also downloaded the app and my tickets are on there! I'm not sure if we'll do the water park too, I mean we could I guess? It looks like the park will be open 10 to 10 when we want to go, and the waterpark noon to 6. Plan to stay at a hotel in Vaughn that is pretty close. But having Calypso nearby, and Mont Cascade as well (haven't been there though), we probably don't need to.

I didn't know they have like a meal package, and an all day drink thing... I guess I'll have to see if those are worth it. The way my kid eats it just might be... I worry about when he's a teenager :D

I’m not sure how much the drink thing is now. But I have gotten it before for my teens. It was great to not have to limit them on how many they could get.

i will warn you the last time we went so 2019 I guess. The big kids and I had the all day dining , which it break even equals two meals. Lines were so long we didn’t eat twice . No idea with reduced capacity if that will mean reduced restaurants and staffing and equally long lines.. and nothing indoors is open for eating so if you pick a day it will rain .. ( our zoo day this Friday looks like rain .. fml)

It should also be noted that, apart from the chain kiosks and funnel cakes, the food is not very good at Wonderland. Burgers and hot dogs are edible, mind you, but chicken strips are rock solid.

If you are able to make it through the day on just one meal, there are a plethora of food options across the street from the parking lot, and hopefully they will be open by the time you visit. If you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend a Barg or Tikka Kabob dinner at Bamiyan Kabob. Or xiaolongbao at Asian Legend.

I'd be happy to recommend other places in the area for you depending based on where you're staying and your level of adventure.

We will likely be staying in Vaughn near Wonderland as I do not like driving much in Toronto so once we get to the hotel I don't want to have to go far to get to the park or places to eat :) There are a few places, Novotel Toronto Vaughn or Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Vaughn.

I am adventurous, my son is not. He is most excited about the hot dogs, and the rides, but beyond hot dogs he probably doesn't care much about the food. Personally, I'd like anything but :D He is funny that he doesn't like pop/soda, nothing with bubbles! So I am not sure the drink thing is for him. I do hope the line ups aren't too bad for things, given the reduced capacity.
