I did not see this info posted on this thread. It appears that Disney has a new offer for the summer - one free quick service meal per day at selected value resorts for arrivals most nights May 29 through June 30, 2016 and July 5 through August 13, 2016. Not much of a discount but it may save a few $.

I guess if you've got a fam of 4 with Disney "adults" who eat from regular menu it would be better than a % off code at a value.

Even with 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 child, it's better than any room offer for a standard room. Disney is valuing the QS meal at $17.05 per night per adult and $6.95 per night per child, for the purposes of upgrading to a regular dining plan. So a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 kids is saving $48 per night (or getting $48 worth of free food). That's not bad.

i must be the only one who looked at the offer and rolled my eyes. i'm canadian and while its 'something' its not enough to entice me to book a vacation at wdw. when we are paying close to 50% on a dollar for exchange they will have to come up with something better than that. do you think this is the 'new' free dinning? disney trying to slowly back out of these offers?
jmo.

I think it's a test to see how they can back out of offering the full free dining. And while it may be better than a room discount for some people, it's awfully disappointing. I know Disney doesn't have to offer anything, but I'd rather they ripped the band aid off and just not offer free dining at all to the general public than only the values who get only one meal. It's an odd promotion.

I was kinda surprised to see Disney giving out a free Quick service at that time of year.. Just booked my vacation there but I booked for March, I don't ever recall them giving anything away then accept a discount on rooms at that time of year... I've been going since 1989 ,, Go figure..

Since it's such a different offer I wonder how many people are going to miss that little clause,1 QS meal/day only.

I think this is the most valuable discount they've offered for Values in the summer in as long as I can remember. A family with 2 older kids, say, 12 and 14, would do very well with this, as they'd be getting 4 adult meals per day, about $68 worth, and a value room at that time is only about $150 weekdays/$180 weekends. That's significantly better than the $15/$18 you'd get with a 10% discount.

For people who like to stay in Values and like to get the Dining Plan, this is a very good deal. If you prefer to stay in Mods or Deluxe, obviously not so much.

I think this is a good incentive to bring guests onsite who would typically stay offsite during the summer months. At first it doesn't seem like much of an offer, but I think it's an attractive one when compared to the past couple of general public summer offers.

Beats no discount. Long story but DD and I split her free QS dining during our November trip and we only paid for one meal OOP. This would work for us but I would prefer to get the normal QS meal plan for "free" opposed to a room discount.

I don't see it as Disney trying to back out of free dining slowly... because when have they ever offered any free dining for summer months? The fact that Disney is giving even a small dining package during the busy summer to me says that bookings are down and Disney is looking to entice more people to book early.

I am in the place where I could take the meal offer or the room discount. The room discount is 210 dollars total, the free dining if I eat Be Our Guest breakfast is about 260 in potential savings. It would bring total food bill down to below 500 dollars for two people for 8 days. So I am of two minds about this. Is the extra 50 dollars in savings worth the lack of flexibility. Our these 'free' meals like the dining plan ones that can be converted into snack credits? Can one person use 10 of the credits and the other 4 or is it tied 7 and 7.

I am just not sure the lack of flexibility is worth the marginally better discount. I would have almost rather them come out with a discounted dining plan as the offer because then you had more control over it. I mean if they had offered a discounted dining plan and you could have got the standard plan for 200 dollars off that would be an amazing deal for how my party eats and tours the parks.

I am also just realizing that most of that 50 dollar discount is the 'free' deserts that my party doesn't normally order at QS. So that makes it even less worth it to me.

They're just like dining plan QS meals. You can convert one into three snacks. And at lunch/dinner you can take a snack item instead of a dessert. The meals are pooled for the party, so one person can use all of them on one day if they felt like it.

Still way too expensive to go during summer for us. To me, has to be a bargain to go during the summer as the intense heat, humidity, rain and crowds aren't worth paying high overall rates!! If discounts are available we'll go in the off season. Well worth it to pull kids out of school for a bit (they do homework each morning before heading to parks).

Can you upgrade to regular dining, using your free quick service as a credit toward the upgrade? Or is it a straight offer? Thank you! I booked today, and am now wondering if that is a possibility.
