six to the airport without going broke.....

I dont know if we will find a poor, kind, friend willing to drive us at 5:30 in the morning on a workday.....does anyone from Long Island know of a reasonable car for hire to get us to LaGuardia.....

(Coming home is no problem as it is 10:00 at night and a weekend).

Check out LGA's website. They offer different ways to get there from NYC, LI or NJ. I usually take the airport shuttle from NYC, but I know its lists private car services as well. Does Super Shuttle run on LI? I know it does in the city...

I got a quote from Classic for 7 people to JFK for $132 plus gratuity. Now I live out by exit 69-70 off the LIE so it does depend on what part of the Island you're talking about. They said it would be a private 11 passenger van...I have 3 carseats.

Try LIALS too...we've used them in the past.

We've always found it easiest to just drive our own car and park with Avistar. We've also checked into a nearby hotel the night before, for flights that were very early.

Have you checked airfare out of Long Island. SWA's fare is darn decent. Not sure when you are going, but, check it out.

I don't know about the rest of you, but 10 days at the highest rate for parking of $5 per day is still 50 bucks...not to mention the potential for damage/theft of your car...and by damage I am counting the possible door ding you'd get and would cost $150 for Dent Wizards to remove (I HATE door dings and even more the people that are careless enough to make them).

I pass on the LT parking, and if like someone mentioned the overnight at the airport hotel..that's gotta be another 50-60 bucks too.

I'm intrigued by this Avistar at JFK. I checked out their website and it would save us money on car service. Can someone give me details...do you leave your keys with them? Is it garaged parking? Do they pile cars within inches of each other? Is the shuttle timely? If you've used the service, were you happy with it?

Never used Avistars but if you use it AAA has a special rate (( think the coupon is 99/week) and Entertainment Book has 25% off.

All of the posts have been good.

I would stay at an airpot hotel the night before. We have flown own on very early flights and wouldn't even think of involving a friend or relative so early. If you use priceline.com, you may be able to score a cheap room. Most airport hotels (at least in Philly) have free long term parking. Plus they shuttle you to the airport free of charge.

I have used Avistar at LGA. We arrived there at 4:00 am for an early flight. We were in and out quickly without any problems. There was a shuttle bus waiting to take us to the terminal. It is easy to get to off the Grand Central Pkwy. I think they have a coupon or some special deal on their web site that you can print out for a discount. The cost was alot cheaper than a car service or Classic Coach. There weren't any problems picking it up such as door dings or scratches, but you take that chance anywhere you park.

As i have decided to drive the Minivan to Mom's in Queens....need an airport service from Queens/Nassau border......it CANT cost $70 to drive to Kennedy from there can it!!!!!!!!

If you decide to use any airport parking drop one parent, kids and luggage off at the terminal and have the other parent drive the empty car to the LT parking lot. No sense in loading all your junk on the shuttle bus if it is not necessary. If skycaps are available at your airport, it is worth the tip to have them haul all your stuff in or use curb side check in.
