First time EVER on an Alaskan cruise. 25 Disney cruises under our belt, this is our ‘biggest’ trip. Would love to stay in Vancouver two nights before cruise but find hotels very pricey but would really like to stay close to port.

Vancouver is pricey, but keep in mind the exchange rate if you are pricing in CAD. Equivalent in USD is less.

I live in the Vancouver suburbs and I can see the port from my office. People on these boards always want to recommend the Pan Pacific as THE option and while that hotel is great and yes literally at the terminal,The closer you are to the port the more expensive the hotel is going to be. However, the thing about Vancouver is that you don’t need to be super close to the port to have convenient access to it.

For staying downtown within walking distance the St Regis on Dunsmuir is a good value, roughly a ten minute walk to the port or a very quick taxi/Uber/Lyft. There’s also the Rosedale on Robson a couple blocks up from there which is a little further.

If you’re looking for a really affordable option and you aren’t planning on doing any sightseeing just staying the night before you sail, stay near the airport or anywhere along Canada line. The Canada line makes access to the port very easy even from outside downtown.

The pan pacific sounded lovely but for a family of 5 would have run like $1400 for two nights because they won't let you put 5 people in a regular room and you have to book a suite. We ended up booking the Sheraton Wall Centre a two bedroom family suite for around half the price.

We have 3 rooms booked for our multigenerational, multi family party booked at the Sheraton Wall Centre, 2 regular rooms and a 2 bedroom suite

I kept an eye out for a discount at Pan Pacific and was able to get 4 nights prior to the cruise at 40% off. Still expensive, but doable. Not sure how often they run the specials, but you could get on their mailing list for future sales.

Second the St Regis, we stayed there on an Alaskan cruise years ago and it was lovely and affordable. Of course, everything is more expensive this year with inflation…

We are staying at the Pan-Pacific because I used credit card points...otherwise, we would have been staying near the airport I suspect!

We stayed at the Pan Pacific on a deal on their website that included breakfast. It was terrific to sit at breakfast eating with the ship docked literally out the window.

There are lots of great hotels in Vancouver and I definitely recommend looking around/calling around (sometimes hotels can give you better rates if you call vs booking online). Downtown Vancouver is super easy to get around; you can always Uber if your hotel is a bit further from the port. Sutton Place Hotel is also nice, as is the Sheraton Wall Centre. The Fairmonts (Pacific Rim, Waterfront, Hotel Georgia) are good options but $$$.

Vancouver is such a pricey city! If you had $1M to spend you could not get a detached house. Anyway. Good luck!

We also stayed at the Blue Horizon. It was reasonably priced, in a nice neighbourhood, and the rooms were large. There was also a liquor store nearby.

Thanks everyone, you have been so helpful….taking a look at the Sheraton Wall Centre, but also at others mentioned.

We have reservations for a 1 bedroom suite at the Auberge for $237.53. Our TA got it and it´s about two blocks straight up from the cruise dock. It looks really nice.

We stayed twice at Times Square Suites. They have a full kitchen if you want to save money for eating and there is a Safeway grocery store on the opposite corner for groceries. We are staying there again in September for our cruise

Another vote for Blue Horizon. Great food within walking distance, easy cab ride to the port. We were considering returning to Alaska next summer and my DH and I agree we would stay there again.
