Successfully DOWNGRADED Universal tickets from Airmiles!

Whats the advantage of the SAP if your only going for the 2 or 4 days? Free parking? anything?
We would only be going the one time maybe next year as an add on to the 5 day Canadian Disney tickets

Hotel rates are drastically reduced. We were paying $320 and got a $200 nightly rate with the AP. Over three nights, that basically covers the price of an entire AP. Also, we will squeeze another trip in next year before our expiry date.

Wow. All righty then. That's a well worth it perk for $10 extra! Thanks!

So did you have a stay already booked before you arrived and then had the rate changed to the AP rate after you upgraded your ticket? Or another way? Was the hotel you stayed at one that gave the unlimited express passes?

I'm saving for our family to go hopefully August 2018 for 5 - 7 nights. I'd really love to know how that worked.

We had a stay already booked and about 3 weeks before we left, the AP rate became available so we jumped on it. It was for the Royal Pacific which does have the unlimited express.

I'm sorry damo. I still do not understand. Did you already have the AP then? I thought you upgraded your tickets after you arrived at Universal Studios. I thought maybe Universal allowed you to change the hotel rate to an AP rate after you arrived.

In my scenario (I live in Canada), do you (or anyone else) know if I would be able to book Royal Pacific in advance; upgrade an Air Miles ticket at the gate to an AP; and then be allowed to change my Royal Pacific booking to an AP rate? Or do I need to have the AP in advance to book the AP rate at Royal Pacific?

At Universal, you do not need to have the annual pass in hand to book the annual pass rate. You just need to show it at some point while you are there, if they ask. We did not have the pass before we got there.

Rates are only posted a couple of months in advance. I suggest you go over to the Universal board and watch this thread ... https://www.disboards.com/threads/a...pdated-08-09-17.3301532/page-53#post-58384764

Thank you damo! This might change everything! I need to redo my spreadsheet and compare options now.

Don't hesitate to ask me anything about Universal. We've been going for the past 20 years or so.

20 years?! (wry grin) - This will be our family's first visit to Universal Studios Orlando.

I was lucky enough to win a trip to California for 2, so my son & I spent 1 day at Universal Studios Hollywood. That just wetted my appitite! :)

So do you think we’d have any problems downgrading from the 3 park tickets to the 2 park tickets? We are going in January and doubt we will go to volcano bay so if we could get 40$ in gift cards per ticket I’d be thrilled

I had the 3 park Airmiles ticket. They swapped me even for a 2 park seasonal pass.

Hahahaha...doesn't it though. Last year, I did a mother/daughter trip and we spent one day in Magic Kingdom and one in Universal. We had SOOOOO much fun:yay:. I've been saving Am and PC points like a mad momma to help pay for a trip for the family to go ( plus the daughter who is 23 ) to go. I think my boys and hubby would have sooooo much fun there. We can't wait to go back! But it takes sooo much $$$ when your looking at a family of 5 adults ( cost wise )
