Substitutions?

I'm really not a picky eater and will try just about anything. The only two things I don't like are potatoes and green peas. I do love steak though, but notice that almost all the restaurants serve them with potatoes. Would it be inappropriate (or rude) to ask for a substitution? I think I might feel sort of weird and don't want to insult the chef (especially since I'm dining at several Signature restaurants this trip). However, I don't eat potatoes. I usually just leave them on my plate, but would rather have another vegetable in their place. I don't particularly care what, just any other veggie (except green peas, of course:rolleyes1). I would have no problem allowing the chef to choose whatever veggie he thought appropriate (just not peas or potatoes:rotfl:) If it matters, I'm eating at Citricos, Narcoosee, Flying Fish, Yatchsman, Jiko, California Grill, Le Cellier, Kouzzina, Coral Reef, Chef's de France, Tokyo Dining, GF Cafe, Yak & Yeti, Tusker House, and Boma.

If you go to Le Cellier and order off the three course fixed price menu, they will not permit you to substitute anything, even sides. If you order from the regular menu, they will permit you to substitute sides.

Also, have seen that some posters reported problems with requesting substitutions at Yak & Yeti (which is not a Disney restaurant) on the dining plan.

At most restaurants, you can substitute a side with any other side that is listed on the menu. My husband does this all the time as he does not eat vegetables. He'll simply ask the server if he can switch and he's never been turned down. In fact, a lot of times, he's offered items that aren't even on the menu (like fries).

Don't feel bad just ask. I am the opposite of you I can't eat many vegetables because I have Crohn's so I ask for potatoes or rice sides. They try to be helpful if they can.

Yes, they did it for us b/c my son does not eat mash potato so they offer fries and if its a side he doesn't like I ask the server if there is something he can have and we never had a problem...we have eaten at Citricos, Narcoosee, Jiko, Coral Reef, Chef's de France, Tusker House(buffet so you can chose what you want) and Boma (buffet so you can chose the items you want to eat).

At Jiko get the filet with mac n cheese. It is sooooooo good. Most important no potatoes or peas.:)

If one of the signature restaurants will not do a substitution then they aren't worthy of that title (IMO). If you politely ask then I think they will accomodate you.

On my last trip I did a side substitution for a side I saw listed with another entree in the menu. This was at Chefs du France. It was no problem at all.

Thanks! As long as it's not potatoes or green peas, I'll eat just about anything.
