We are going back in July, last year we took a double stroller and it was horrible. My youngest HATES the stroller so we hardly used it. We are going again this year and she will be 2 the day before we leave....She still will not sit in a stroller, can you do backback carriers or are they more trouble than they are worth??

Last year she was 11 months and I borrowed a friends sling but I think that she will be too big for that this time around. Any suggetsions would be GREAT! Thanks!

how much does she weight? do you carry her offten now? my favorit type carrier is a mei tia, you can do a search and find them pretty seat, kozy carrier are poplar but there are cheeper ones also. i carried allie in one of these about 70% of our trip last year when she was 12 months old. this year there's no way i could carry her that much she's almost 30lbs and 36inches tall, do you think she would sit in a side by side type with big sis sitting next to her???

As of right now....18 months she weighs about 29 pounds. She is a fairly big kid. She will not sit in the stroller no matter what. She is a really active kid and would rather be running than to be in a stroller. I will check out that carrier.

I really really really HATE HATE HATE to see thoes harness type things but i woudl really HATE even more to see a lost childs at wdw, ya know if your dd holds your hands really well then i'd take a carrier and a single stroller for the 3 y/o if your 1 y/o falls asleep you could have the 3y/o walk while the 2 y/o naps... and if you find that your 2 y/o has wanted to ride more then expected then you could leave your single stroller at the rentals and rent a doulbe.

another carrier i've heard raves about is a ergo carrier for older kids, i wish wish wish i had the funds for one of thoes but i just don't right now since we need to replace our dvd in the car before we go! LOL and my dd rides well in our stroller this year, unlike last year!

I would take a single stroller and a carrier.. i use a babyhawk, my youngest is almost 14 months and about 24-25 pounds and almost 31 inches..big girl..lol I use my Mei tei ALL the time, she loves back carries.
http://babyhawk.com/ , they are great and they offer a toddlerhawk which has a really tall body. Also http://ergobabycarrier.com/ they are great.
http://ecobabies.com/ this is another..a lot of fun prints, but has buckles instead of ties.

I'd still take the double, and let her walk until she exhausts herself. Then, just plunk her in it. Other posters have mentioned harness/backpacks that work great for the little ones, so let her walk around wearing one of those.

I can't think of anything more uncomfortable than carrying around a hot, sticky 2 yr old in a sling/backpack in July in Orlando...

I can think of something worse... a screaming 2 year old b/c she can't get mom to carry her and hates the stroller! :lmao: J/K:flower3:

I have the ERGO. Its great because its soft, not hard like one of those backpack carriers you'd go hiking up a mountain with. I used it at Disney with DD, but my mom and DH made fun of me. It doesn't look stupid or anything so I don't know what their issue was. I was really upset because the thing costs $$$ and they would just carry her when I would go to put it on.

Anyway, it works. We go for walks around the neighborhood and stuff. My DD, although a lot older, is a lot thinner than your DD. I know they say like 4 year olds fit in them, but that's still weight on your hips and back. The weight is easily distributed, but I think if you are a superthing person, it maybe too much. I'm the stocky type with the "child-bearing" hips.:rotfl:

This may or may not work for you but it did for us. My DD was a little over 2 when we went to WDW the 1st time. She was not a stroller rider either, much preffered running or being carried! I made a big point of purchasing a new slimmer stroller for her, she shopped with me- sat in it and helped pick it out, we talked about how she would need to ride in it at Disney. We talked about it regularly in the weeks before the trip. Once we got there we talked about how tomorrow she would ride in the stroller and go see Mickey and the other charecters---basically really talked it up but always saying she would ride in the stroller.

The first day we were going to the parks we left the hotel room and as it was quite a ways from the bus stop we made that our 'testing zone'. We told her she needed to get in and ride so we could go see Disney. She, not unexpectedly, had a tantrum about it and wanted to be carried. We just stood and waited talking encouragely about the things that were going to happen once she got in her stroller and we could get to Disney. It took maybe 15 minutes (although it seemed forever) and she got it out of her system and realized that we meant business and she got in and away we went. We had maybe a minor fuss once or twice later in the trip but I think we had established that we were serious and she wasn't going to be carried or running free.

Like I said this may not work for every kid and DH and I had talked about it and really steeled ourselves for the tantrum and knew that we were not giving in--it was super important for us to be on the same page because he will often 'give in' when she fusses. We also prepared the older kids telling them it would take a while that first day but they were cool with it as they had been prepared.

Anyways it is a thought...just sharing my experience.

This is similar to what we did w/ DS2 (at the time), we kinda told him and explained to him how important it was that he stay in the stoller. "this way mommy and daddy can ZOOM around the parks and look for all your friends (characters). He held out for an hour or two and just gave in because he was exhausted.
