Thank you for your story, and for being you.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to say thanks for your support. I posted that story to remind me whyI chose nursing in the CCU. We've been short staffed, there's been management changes, and policy changes. Sometimes it's hard to remember that it is a rewarding field. Believe me when I say I could be a much better nurse.

I've stayed on plan so far today. Breskfast was a Morning Start bar and tea. Lunch was a tuna steak and some green beans. water. Dinner is a crustless spinach, mushroom, cheese, and bacon quiche and a salad. Water to drink.

Here's the good part. I went to Curves today. I got measured. This month I have lost 8.5 pounds.(I go 1hr after lunch) AND 3.5 inches. I am down a total of 36# and 24.5 inches. I won a Curves buck because I lost the most results at our branch for the month of January. I also had the trainer go over the machines with me to see if we could intensify my routine. She showed me some great things, and I got a much better workout.

So, my friend was picking up Katie from Preschool. I was supposed to have a doctor's appointment, but it had to be rescheduled. I used one of my bday gift certificates and bought size 18 jeans. I could have gotten the 16 stretch, but they weren't the right length. I started out in November in a size 24. I am one very happy woman right now. I also picked up the 8 minutes in the morning thing. I figure I can incorporate some of his techniques into my exixting program. I hope to read it tonight.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday.
Beth:sunny:

great job beth, i'm so proud of you! isn't it just wonderful to lose all those pounds AND inches?!?! i love it! you must feel like a million bucks in those size 18s, and i'm sure you look the part too :smooth:

have another great day today :sunny:

I'm ready for spring. It's been freezing rain on and off all day. If I could have just curled up with DD, no big deal. We were driving all day. Ballet lessons, grocery shopping, my doctor appointment, book store. Because DD was so good through it all, no whinging, we stopped for some sorbet for her. I generally don't use food as a reward for her, but it was snack time, and we were right there. It jst cracks me up that there is a Baskin Robbins right next to Weight Watchers. I've stayed on track today. Dinner will be just DD and me. DH has tix for the Piston's game.
Breakfast: Piece of peanut butter toast, 2 sausage links, coffee.
Lunch: Good size salad and water.
Snack: Cup of tea and piece of cheese
Dinner will be the left over quiche and salad.
I've had 3 liters of water. I'm going to try the 3 mile WATP tonight. I think it is time to step up the exercise. After that, I'll watch my tivo'd American Idol and take a bubble bath and read my new book.

I've been thinking about rewarding myself. I think that for each 10# clippie, I'll get myself 2 dozen roses from Costco. When I hit Onederland, I'm going to sign up for a Pilates class. I'm afraid to do it on my own. I have minor knee and back issues, so I want an instructor there to correct me. When I reach goal, I want to take scuba lessons.

What a great post. I love that you are taking care of yourself tonight after such a busy day. Sounds relaxing and refreshing.

I also love that you have decided on a treat for yourself. Roses. What a great idea. I absolutely love flowers, and the sight and smell of them can do alot for a person. Super.

I am proud of you.

Have a terrific night.

I agree----Baskin Robbins next to WW. That must be a challenge for people who enter either establishment.

Have a good night, Strings. Talk with you tomorrow.

to be a nurse...and an extra special nurse to work critical care. You are amazing! Your story about your patient brought tears to my eyes.

You're also amazing for keeping your committment to yourself and seeing results. Congrats on getting the Curves award. You'll be in size smaller jeans in no time!

Thank you again for stopping by my journal and brightening my week.

beth, you are doing such a great job. and the rewards that you are planning out for yourself sound absolutely perfect! i tend to reward myself with food..haha, just a bit counterproductive :o . the pilates class sounds like a great idea. and once you get to know the moves, i'm sure you could do it on your own as well. and scuba diving! that sounds like so much fun! you will definitely deserve that once you get to goal.

hope you have a great day today :sunny:

Beth, what great rewards you have planned!! You know, I LOVE flowers and they can be very reasonably priced. I think I may need to work on some reward system for myself that includes flowers! Thanks for the inspiration! Scuba diving - COOL! Then you could scuba in the tank at the Living Seas on your next Disney trip, and wave to us tourists on the "dry land" side of the glass!! That has always looked like such fun!!

You've done great staying on plan, especially throughout your hectic weekdays and crazy working weekends! I bet you'll be hitting those goals in no time at all!!

You go, girl!! ::yes::

Well, today was...odd. I was really busy and on the run all day. DD got me up at 530AM. There's a reason I work nights. I don't do mornings. I decided to hit Curves early before DH went to work. Boy was he glad I woke him up 1/2 hour eaarly to watch Katie. I really worked hard and did 3.5 circuits. I decided I needed a coffee, so I stopped at Starbucks. If they could only make low carb Caramel Macchiatos. Now you have to pictuer this. It is 745AM. I haven't showered, my hair is in a lopsided ponytail, no makeup, sweating in sweatpants that are way too big for me, and I'm sure I smelled. And I need to mention the famous sportsbra uniboob. Definately not my beat moment. The hag from Snow WWhite looks better right then. In walks my ex. He's on his way to work. Hair is perfact, suit and tie. I basically wanted to die. Of course he saw me. The least he could have done was bought my coffee. I'm sure he was thanking his lucky stars that we brokeup years age. That was the start of the day. Spent time in the ER with DD. A kid in he preschool pushed her off the jungle gym resulting in 6 stitches. She's fine. She got a Minnir Mouse bandage, and thinks she's all that. There was somthing else, but I'm forgetting right now.

Breakfast: Ham and cheese rollups, coffee.
Lunch: I have totally forgotten. I know I had some string cheese.
Snack: Tea
Dinner: Blackened chicken, spaghetti squash with butter/cheese sauce and mushrooms. Salad.
Snack: RS mint patties (.2 carb) and decaf tea

I drank 3.5 liters of water. Besides Curves, I did some abdominal work and went for a 15 minute walk. It would have been longer, but the cell rung from preschool. I REALLY wanted some cookies/candies from EVM at the ER. I came so close to blowing it. All I have to say is that the scale had better cooperate this Sunday.
I hope everyone is doing well. I hope to catch up on journals tomorrow. Having a friend over tomorrow, so I'm not sure when I'll get to the computer.

:sunny:  :sunny:
Beth

Hi Strings:) thanks for stopping by my jouranl and you did great in spite of all the setbacks today, have a good shift :sunny: since I know you work nights(BTW My DBF is a home health aide and is in school to be a certifeated 1st level aide)

beth, that's rough about the ex. but ya know what? who cares what you looked like. (well, i know, you do, but ya know what i mean). you know that looking like that is ultimately helping you reach your fitness and healthy living goals. just wait till you walk into that starbucks all svelt and drop dead gorgeous and he sees you then. hehe

and poor dd! kids pushing other kids of jungle gyms? my goodness! and i'm going into early ed? haha, look at what i'm getting myself into :p. i'm so glad that she's ok though, that is too cute about her thinking she's "all that" with her cute little bandaid! now *that* makes me remember why education is right for me :)

have a great time with your friend today :)

Hi Marcia, I wasn't reaaly upset by the ex, it was more like, "It fugures it would happen when I look my worst." It was also the start of the day. Have I mentioned I'm not a morning person?
I'll post more later.
Beth

just stopping buy to say you'll blow everyone in Starbucks away in no time and have a great day :sunny:

You had me laughing, but feeling for you. That is something that would definitely happen to me, too.

Good for you for exercising!

Just wanted to stop in to say "hi" and let you know that I am thinking of you. Hope you are having a good day. Talk with you later.:wave2:

Wow, I never made it back to post yesterday. It was a trying day. DD and I were stuck with each oter all day, and niether of us was happy about it. It was a combination of her costant whine, my lack of sleep, and DH not coming home until after her bedtime. My friend did come over, but that turned into this major emotional support thing. I'm so glad I can listen and help, but I was exhausted after she left. Yesterday, I did my 2Mile WATP tape. Breakfast was a morning start bar. Lunch was ham/cheese rollups and a couple of strawberries. Snack was string cheese. Dinner was eggs and canadian bacon. I didn't drink nearly enough water, maybe 1.5liters. Also had 2 coffees.

I started out my day with the 2 Mile WATP tape. Then, DH decided to work from home today, so I headed to Curves. I only did 2.5 circuits today. If I'm honest, it was a bunch of older women there today. The trainer asked me a med question and it began a free for all with the medical questions. I had to escape.
I skipped breakfast, just had water and my vitamins/meds. I just couldn't eat.
Lunch will be some salmon and salad.

I'm gearing up for my weekend at work. I'm making some chicken salad to take. I also have string cheese, sf jello, and cantalope. I hope to keep coffee at a minimum. My goal is 4liters of water by the time I go to bed Saturdday morning. 1.5 liters down already.

I'm not sure when I'll get back to my journal, or other journals. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
:sunny:  :sunny:
Beth

beth, sounds like a very emotionally trying day yesterday. i'm glad you made it through it without a breakdown!

good for you getting to curves. that stinks though about having to cut your workout short because of all the questions. i hate having to talk to people while i'm working out. especially when i'm running and don't want to expend my breath on talking, makes for a harder run. anyway, i guess you can't really take a walkman to curves. that's the thing people usually suggest for treadmills. and it must be tough when all those older women are looking to you for answers, and i'm sure that you do want to be able to help them, but it can be overwhelming.

great job planning for the weekend. as we know all too well, it helps to have a plan :). hope you make it through okay! check back when you get the chance after you make it through the busy weekend :)
