String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

Beth: That is exactly where my sis and I are at - 3 years difference. Thank goodness we attended a Sr H.S. (Soph-Sr.) I was out of there before she entered the building. She had to deal with the fact that her older sis was news editor of the paper and had re-done the whole paper layout (which weirdly enough they have not changed now in over 20 years! even with new technology.) We weren't close until she started up at the Univ. of Washington...then we actually roomed a summer together in one the fraternities. We were then close up until she got involved with the latest of loosers and moved with the deadbeat to Provo, UT and took our nieces with her. (The oldest of which lived with us for 2 full years while sis got her life together between husband #1 and #2 - the youngest, both Jeff and I had daily contact with up until the move.)

I can't say from my experience that the relationship will get any better...but maybe your little sis will be blessed with a child who takes after her auntie (like my niece Charly does). Nothing is better than seeing the old childhood arguments now spring up between mom & daughter and daughter is a much better debater!

Good for you for joining your H.S. football team as kicker! You never cease to amaze me! Also congrats on surviving Cold Stone with only a taste! I don't think I could do that - my splurge at the rare movie is popcorn.

I'm going to take Charly to see Harry at the Seattle I-MAX next week (if my folks don't do it first). We all just love H.P. - Tilda loves the second movie's giant snake and the flying car!

Hang in there!

This morning isn't going to be too bad. I'm heading to the Y for weights and 45 minutes of cardio. I will then clean at least 2 of our 3 bathrooms. Today will be a nap day because Katie got me up at 6 AM and I am working tonight. 16 hours. 12 hours on Saturday. There is a carnival to kick off summer camp and soccer on Sunday. Won has poker night at our house Saturday night which means lots of cleaning up.

The picnic was fun last night. I "won" a silent auction for a gift certificate to OliveGarden. $30 GC, maracas, a tambourine, an basket for $20. I am hoping to use it on Sunday. Katie was up late with the picnic, and a mess, so I had to bath her. Total meltdown when her temp. tattoo came off. Asthma attack after the tantrum, but she is fine. Not the way I want spend my evening.

I'll try to get to some journals, but I'm not promising. I'll send some :goodvibes just in case I don't get to them this weekend.

Have a good one,
Beth

Beth, I'm so glad to hear you have a nap planned into your busy day! I say you let Won take Katie to the carnival and/or soccer on Sunday so you can catch up on more rest! ::yes:: I know you won't, because you love to be involved with her activities, but the Mom in me worries about you. ::yes::

And while we're talking about Won - if it's HIS poker night, then HE gets to clean up!

The gift basket you won sounds awesome!! Good for you! Olive Garden - tough place for me to low-carb, but I'd sure be tempted to give up low-carb for one meal! :p Enjoy your dinner out!

Beth,
Good morning! You are so very busy! I admire you for all that you do. Plus, you manage to stay OP and exercise! Whew! You are such an inspiration.::yes::

Congratulations on the gift basket! Olive Garden is one of my favorite restaurants.::yes:: Yummy!

I hope that Katie is feeling better today. ::yes:: I also hope that you are able to relax and get some good quality rest in this weekend. You deserve it!

Have a great Friday, Beth!

Ok I forgot about weigh in. I am up 1 pound which is frustrating. I'm taking one out of Erin's book and continuing to walk the walk:cool1: I'm trying to stay postivie and keep the longterm factor in mind. Off to journals

I know how frustrating the scale can be  but keep in mind how well you have been doing and there is a 50 lb clippie in your signature. Considering all the stress you have been under I am not surprised about the tiny gain. Stress and my weight are not friends and I can go up and down a few lbs depending on what's going on in my life. Hang in there.

Ok you are working a 16 hour shift and then backing it with a 12? Your husband should be doing the cleanup from his poker night and you should be sleeping. Let him clean and don't worry if it isn't to your liking. At least it is done and you didn't have to do it!

I am certifiable, insane,

I worked my 16 hour shift on Friday. It exhausts me, but they were desperate at 4PM Saturday. Wilderness, I know you can relate to this. They offered me a deal. If I came in at 4Pm instead of 8PM, I could work only 8 hrs. I would get off work at midnight and be able to sleep like a somewhat normal person. I said yes. I hate working with only 8 hrs between shifts, but this was supposed to work. I get to bed at 9AM. At 11:50 I wake up to Katie screaming and crying because they couldn't find her shin pads for soccer. Won is angry, they have torn the house apart trying to find them, even though I told him that they were in my car with her ball. He denies hearing this. His selective hearing is unbelievable. I get her calmed down, and I go back to bed. I get up at 2:30 and am at work by shift change at 330. Well, we had a call in. They want me to work until 8AM. I cannot do 2 doubles. I did agree to stay until 4AM, of course this turned into 5AM because my patient decided to crash, again, at shift change. I am now home. I just made a batch of blueberry pancakes because I promised Katie that she could have some for breakfast. She will just have to understand that she doesn't get to help this time. I did eat OP, but I ran out of food. I felt awful by the time I walked out of the hospital. I stopped at the Coney Isalnd there and had eggs and bacon. I did eat 2 bites of hash browns, but that was all. I am off to bed for what I hope is 6 hours of solid sleep. A girl can dream can't she?

Oh boy Beth can I relate. First they snag you by playing "Let's Make A Deal" and then once you're there it is like a hostage situation that you need to negotiate your way out of! That was preciously what happened to me last week. "Monty Hall" called and made the deal then the next am "Bob Barker" strong-armed me by playing the "Price Is Right". I however balked and said I didn't want to play no matter what the price was. Then "Bob Barker" aka the supervisor told me I had no choice but to come in. Isn't this against some kind of labor law? It gives me a headache even thinking about it. I am already staying tonight now longer than I want because the crying/begging phonecall came this am. I can say......I don't want my children to become nurses. They wonder why there is a shortage.......

Hope you get some much needed rest. Sorry your tomorrow will also be a blur. It usually takes days to recover from what you did. I will also be in that blur with you tomorrow.

Ok,I'm alive, barely. I went to bed around 630, and I was up at 1130 with only 1 interuption. I have cleaned all 3 bathrooms, again. Apparantly we had a sllepover lastnight and 3 toddlers were bathed at my house. 2 bathrooms totaled anf the /5 bath downstairs was used by drunken men. Katie's room and the guest room also got the once over.

I'm posting my schedule for the week, so I won't lose track of anything. This week is the week of the overscheduled child. They extended the school year because of snow days. Katie has preschool Mon and Wed afternoons. M-f she has day camp in the mornings. Wednesday evening she has her dress rehearsal for her recitals on Friday and Saturday nights. My parents are staying with us Saturday to see the recital and then celebrate Father's day on Sunday. Katie also has a Bday party to attend on Sunday evening. Somewhere in there I will need to get gifts for Won, my dad, won's dad, and Katie's friend. Of course I still have to cook, clean and do laundry. I will be working out when Kate is at day camp, so I have 5 workouts planned this week.:faint: Oh I forgot, Won has a potluck on Friday. He has requested alc cheesecake. We'll see about that one. I am having an anxiety attack just thinking about this week. I'll have to do grocery shopping tomorrow when Kate is in school. Katie will have to nap Tuesday and Friday. Sorry for the rambling. I'm tired and am feeling overwhelmed.

I am still OP. I had a salad when I got up. Iam making chicken wings and salad for dinner.

I'll try to get to journals through the week, but I am not sure how much time I will have. I will be thinking of all of you though.

Take care,
Beth

Beth:

I'm worried about you. You'd think with a nursing shortage going on 20 years now, they'd let a few more into programs and get them into your capable hands for on-the-job training. I used to work an am news shift (3am to noon). At 11am someone on the afternoon would call in sick and I'd have to stay through the early news and then the late news and I'd be home at midnight but still had to be back at 3am! I was young at the time, very young, I get tired now just being called in on one of my days off.

Your week sounds really stressful. Sounds like you've already found a way of scheduling - dividing and conquoring. You are my hero - I will not complain about attending cyber class everyday.

Keep your chin up and don't neglect yourself!

Laurie

Beth,
You are such an amazing woman! You do so much to bless the lives of your family, and I am sure that they love and appreciate you for it.::yes:: I hope that in this next week, you are able to take it one day at a time and find some time for you to relax. Have a wonderful week!!!:sunny: :Pinkbounc

Tracy:wave2:

 Warm hugs to you this morning, Beth. Taking this week one day at a time would be my suggestion. What a schedule you have! I'd kind of outline each day and then cross off whatever wasn't absolutely necessary--do what you can to save yourself!

Enjoy your time at the gym while Katie's at day camp. Let that be the time you replenish your spirit and your body--time just for you.

Have a good day. Promise me you'll pace yourself with some baby steps, OK?

Love,
Erin

Deep breaths! Inhale, exhale, Inhale, exhale! You've got a very busy schedule but ya know what - make a list, prioritize that list, and then just do one thing at a time. It will get done! As far as making a cheesecake - I would call a baker ;)

Remember to take quite time for yourself and good luck with your week.

How is the MIL these days?

~Amanda

:wave2: Hi Beth,
Sure sounds like you've got quite a week planned! I hope it all goes smoothly for you. I'm sure once school and dance are over for Katie you'll get into nice summer groove. I'm sending a little extra pixie dust your way to help you get through until then :wizard: . Hope you have a great day :sunny: !

Hey Beth! It sounds like you are trying to rival me as the world's busiest Mom!! Take it easy on yourself and do what you can. If the house isn't perfect, that's okay. One day, one step at a time - you'll get through.
Good luck staying OP through all this craziness. :goodvibes and gentle  that you have a great week.
TTFN-
Sharon :sunny:

Thanks for all the support. I am doing a bit better today. Katie LOVES day camp. They are still a little disorganized. Let's throw 6 girls under the age of 6 and expect them to get changed out of their swimsuits. We've lost a tshirt so far. I'm hoping onew of the other moms will return it. I did 2 weight circuits and 3 miles on the treaddie. OP so far. I'm off to finish cleaning bedrooms. After I pick Katie up from school, we're off to the bookstore and Target to buy presents. Dinner will be coney cheese dogs/no buns and salad.

I'm off.

Beth, you continue to amaze me! Please cross ANYTHING off your list that isn't absolutely necessary! I like Erin's idea - let someone else make Won's potluck dish!

Sending you good thoughts.

Beth,

You sound like a busy gal. The daycamp will work the kinks out hopefully soon. I hope you have a relaxing night.:D
