Vegas trip... a little overwhelmed

Thanks.

Would you go again and/or recommend it to someone who hasn't seen it?
I’m not sure I’d go again, but I’d also definitely recommend it to someone who wants the Sphere Experience, and it was definitely worth my time. The Sphere is really something else.

I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and used my $150 semi-annual StubHub credit to purchase my ticket.

Yea, I'd like the experience and WoO is what's playing when we're there.

I think I have a plan. Showed it to DW (who had told me what she's interested in) and she "signed off" on it. Sent it to my aunt letting her know she can join us for whatever she likes. Aunt thinks it's a lot. DW says "yea, you tend to pack in too much". So, keep in mind we arrive at Noon on Saturday and leave the following Friday night (10p)

Here's what's on our agenda (nothing booked yet):
*Neon Museum
*Bus Tour to Grand Canyon
*Tour the strip (Possibly include Madame Toussauds & High Roller)
*Wizard of Oz
*Drive to Hoover Dam and do guided tour
*Variety Show
*Golden Knights Game
*Couples Massage
*Cirque show

If we can get to Freemont Street and Pinball Museum, bonus.

I will readily admit when I'm on vacation somewhere I want to "do" things. If I'm just going to sit in a room and read or watch TV, I can do that at home and save money. I'm also the paranoid type who thinks "what if I never get back?" :P

When looking at a list, I can see someone think "that's a lot". But when you consider this is spread out over 6+ days, is it really?

The only thing - the Grand Canyon is a LOT...like an enormous suck of boring time getting to and fro. It's not always the best use of "fun" time in Vegas for the time you are there...

But drop that, and it looks like a great plan...

That is very easily done in 6+ days, you will not feel rushed at all.

Which Cirque show? Of the Cirque shows, I have only seen Mad Apple, I think it is very different than the others, and I very much enjoyed it. Mad Apple is very much a variety show with some Cirque thrown in.

Haven't decided on which Cirque show yet. Guessing we can't go wrong with any really any of them.

I'm sure we'll spend some time in a casino, but that can happen when we're touring the strip. I also haven't blocked out time for meals, but that shouldn't be an issue either, and can depend on the day.

Shows are booked...

Wizard of Oz @ Sphere
Mad Apple
Michael Jackson ONE

Guessing not, but any dress code concerns? Not planning on it, but do shorts & T-shirts suffice (just in case we can't get back to change)?

I'm not sure if I mentioned this upthread, but I would not recommend O as your first Cirque show. While it's not bad, it's not really spectacular in ways land-bound Cirque shows are. I feel the water greatly limits what can be done, and there's only so many ways performers can flip into and out of the water and do synchronized swimming before things start to get repetitive.

For more awe-inspiring shows, look at Ka or even Mystere, the original and in some ways still the best, now that the Beatles show Love (the ultimate Cirque) is no more.

Make sure you pin down a date/time for the Neon Museum for your tour to start around sunset, when all the signs start lighting up. By the end of the tour, it'll be dark and the signs will look marvelous. Sunset tours often sell out, so the earlier you can commit the better.

I absolutely loved 0 but know others who feel same way as the poster above. It seems to be a show you love or not. I find that is a the case with lots of Cirque Shows. I have had some people tell me they hated Ka while others loved it. To me O was a bucket list Cirque Show. We get touring Cirque shows here so it was not a first Cirque for me. I knew we won’t be getting the water element in a theatre built here so it was a must see how me. Luckily it was the highlight of our trip for DH and myself.

Shorts and T-shirts are plenty for those shows. It's really only some of the steakhouses/supper clubs and the day and nightclubs that will have dress codes.

Edited to add:
Don't forget to status match your RCCL status to get free parking at MGM. You would be able to park at Mandalay Bay and NYNY for free for those two shows. For the Sphere you could park for free at TI and it's a shortish walk to the Sphere.

Planning on it. I was going to ask, what do I need to provide as "proof"? Just C&A number?

You will need to open an MGM account before your trip. Hopefully that is possible.

Then email: memberservices@mgmresorts.com

Something like, adjust for RCCL and your particular status.

You've gotten great advice, one thing I'd add is don't discount the smaller shows. On one trip we last minute booked Wayne Brady for like $30 and it was fantastic. Some others I've really enjoyed are Penn and Teller, Mat Franco, Shin Lim, and Marc Savard.

Glad you are going to see Wizard of Oz at the Sphere!

Also the Neon Museum !

You will have fun

I also recommend
Soarin Over Vegas

And the place called Secret Pizza !

Wizard of Oz @ 5p, then hoping to make our way to Freemont Street and then Neon. Or reverse Freemont & Neon. ;)
