Strange things guests say

We were unbuckling after TOT last weekend when the girl behind me says "Hey, where'd my ears go?" :)

Little boy waiting in line for a boat to POFQ "44 inches means you're an adult!"

One time, when my father and I were in line for ToT, a family, who said it was their first time on the ride, asked us, "Does this ride have any sudden drops?, because our son doesn't like that!" :headache:

We didn't have the heart to tell them that it did, so we just told them it was a lot of fun!!!! :littleangel:

They got in the same elevator as us and the family ended up enjoying it.

It was just shocking to me that someone who had been so many times and loved it enough to want to have their wedding there was still so misinformed!!

I went all the time as a kid and considered myself a bit of an expert but the last time I'd gone was before Epcot was finished. We moved out of florida and with no internet, etc, I didn't know the first thing about the other parks. I went again in my 20's and was shocked -- SHOCKED I tell you -- to see all that it had become. I thought Epcot was limited to the ball and a few things. Future world? What's that? MGM what? Isn't AK just a drive-through? LOL

We went many more times after that to really see it all and from these boards, I see am but a novice even with 30-40 trips under my belt.

And that's why WDW is so awesome! No 2 trips are the same and you discover new things all the time! :goodvibes:lovestruc

I have to say the funniest thing I heard was from my own brother. It was the first time we had ever gone on Rockin' Roller Coaster. Back then the park was still named MGM (which it will always be in my mind). We'd never been on it before but if you pay attention while you're outside the ride itself you see the spiraling track going into the building. This should have been a good indicator what we were in for and I picked up on it excitedly.

So here's the scene. We're in the 'limo' awaiting our crazy trip to go see Aerosmith. My youngest brother is in the seat next to me, my middle brother in the seat behind me, my mom is next to him. Right as the countdown is nearing 3 I hear this tiny voice from behind me plaintively say, "I hope this ride doesn't go upside down..." What happens right after your 0 to 60 launch? Boom, right into your first loop.

I have never laughed so hard on a roller coaster in my life. My poor brother was green after that and to this day (14 year later) he steadfastly refuses to get on that ride again. :rotfl:

My biggest pet peeve is when people tell me they went to Disney World, and they were really talking about the Magic Kingdom. I hear this all the time, and it drives me nuts!!!

So do you also get upset when someone says "I've been to [insert country name here]" but they've only been to one PART of that country, such as a city or region? Because that's how I see Disney World.

we went to WDW this past April for a quick weekend trip. i already had to be in FL so i brought the bf & his friend. Tony had never been to Disney except for a day trip once when he was about 12y/o and it basically doesn't count bc they just did a walk thru MK. ANYWAY, he's a big baby and he got motion sick on TSM! Well we went to RnR and he was like: "Does it go upside down?" and we played it off bc otherwise he would have NEVER gone on it. Well we waited and boarded. I sat next to him and OMG he screamed like a little girl (no offense!) and he screamed for his mommy and scream how much he hated us for getting him on this ride and all sorts of things you would never imagine a 30 y/o MAN to say! it was so funny! but the funniest part was his picture at the beginning! Then we heard other people on the ride we were on saying how they could hear a small girl screaming the entire ride - AND IT HAS MUSIC PLAYING ON IT TOO!!! So funny!

On our first trip staying onsite, we had gotten free dining. As I was checking into Pop I struck up a conversation with the two ladies behind me as there was a long line. We were talking about crowds, etc. They asked if we had free dining. I stated that we did. One of the ladies then tells me very hush hush, " Don't tell other's, but you can use the free dining in the parks too! We just found this out today"!!!! :confused3 They had been at Pop for five days and had been eating all of their meals at Everything Pop. I didn't have the heart to tell them I knew this and had ADR's already!!!!:goodvibes

Poor things! I can't imagine how they were missing out on so many yummy places!
:rotfl:

2. The guest at MK asking the CM "What time is the 3:00 parade?"
Oh man, the good ol' 3:00 parade question. (It's actually a trick question depending on where you're watching the parade from)
Once I saw some guy standing in City Hall on Main Street ask where City Hall was :sad2:
On Everest, when it stopped at the Yeti tearing up the track, the woman in front of us, "I didn't see any animals like that here. Where'd it come from?"...
And then there was my dad on Expedition Everest. He spent like 5 minutes reading the sign out front that clearly states it goes forwards and backwards through the dark. Well it got to the broken track part and he freaked out asking where we were gonna go from there. He asked me if it went backwards and then proceeded to freak out when I said yes. Good job reading the sign Dad...

Yeah, not unlike anywhere else in the world. When finding I'm from the US, I've had people ask me if I was from LA or NYC. I usually say, yeah, somewhere around there.

Not really, as Wales and England are different countries, much more like Canada and The USA :)

:rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao: but somtimes i still call it mgm

I always call it MGM, never Hollywood Studios!

I just recently went to Disney with my schools marching band in may.
ALL of my friends had never been before (cept a couple when they were 3) but i had NO idea how frusterating it was... me who has been over and over again and LOVE disney and know a lot about it.

it was the QUESTIONS.. theyre were too many to type but here weere some of the main conversations i had:

"So with the park hopper ticket we can just go to Harry Potter Land Everyday?!"
(btw we went to universal the first day)

"Is that a rollercoaster?"
(EVERY ride i mentioned i got this question... treated it like a regual theme park, which you guys understand to us.. its much more !)

"lets go to CANADA LAND!"
(its a pavillion...not a land.....enough said it got annoying)

SEPARATE TO ALL THIS !
when i went with all my cousins and famjam a little more than a year ago.. my cousin who was 15 at the time asked my mom these questions:

in AK "are those animals real aunt amanda?"
(on kilimanjaro safari)

in MK "are those characters real aunt amanda?"

at 15 i just thought this was the cutest thing ! he was alll serious too !
as you can probably tell.. his mom doesnt take him anywhere much..
:rotfl2:

Okay...I have two:

First one not at WDW, but at work. Co-worker is taking her children and grandchildren to WDW (about 10 of them). I asked her if she was doing any of the Grand Gathering events, she did not know what I was talking about. Oh, but they were going to eat her and there and everywhere.

Me: "Oh, good you got all of your dining reservations (does not know ADR terminoligy)"
Her: "No, not yet I'm thinking of calling next week and getting it done."

She is going in the middle of October, the week after me. I didn't have the heart to tell her that she may not get in some of the places she mentioned especially with a party of 10+. I told her I wouldn't hesitate any longer and then I had to catch up to my other co-workers.

I did offer her my help when she first told me she was interested. But she never followed up....I hope her trip goes well.

Next, I may have said on another thread but this was a couple of years ago. We had just gotten out of our dinner at CRT and MVMCP had already started. Since we did not have tickets, we were exiting the park. On our way we witnessed a man in the middle of Main Street yelling at this poor CM. He was upset at how crowded the party was and that they paid all of this extra money not to have these crowds of people. He "demanded" that Disney lessen these crowds immediately or he expected a full refund...this was unacceptable! The poor CM was trying to explain it was a sold out night, but this continued to say that was unacceptable and that he wanted people kicked out. :sad2:

Yes, the park is just for you. We did not stay to see what happened, since were not part of the party and if we had tried to intervene he probably would have used that as part of his justification for being right. The way he was yelling, I'm sure security was on it's way.:scared1:

I don't think the England/Wales comparison to Canada/USA works either. You don't need to provide documentation or cross a border between England and Wales. The USA and Canada have no common governance, whereas England and Wales are two parts of a United Kingdom. And for many hundreds of years, Wales had no independence at all. It was conquered in 1282, and didn't have it's own national assembly until 1999. Wales does not have treaties or independent relations with other nations, so I think it's understandable that there's confusion among people who don't live in the U.K.

So wait... is the MVMCP after hours, or do people who don't have tickets have to leave the park early?

Yes, the MVMCP is after hours and requires a separate ticket. It starts at 7:00 (although people are allowed to enter with a party ticket starting at 4:00), and that's when regular park hours end on those days, so people without party tickets have to leave.

Ah..

Do those days end at 7 when the party isn't going on? I think if I was a non-ticket holder, I'd be a little upset about having to leave early.
