Strange things guests say

OMG, seriously that reminds me of one year; one of my first solo trips. Epcot, in front of Germany, two young girls emerge. One is "pretending" to hold a video camera taping and the other has on a silver "alien" hat, yelling about how Disney World steals your creativity by brainwashing you.

Seconds later I turned around and they were gone.

The man beside me says, "I guess the mother ship picked them up." I was laughing so hard, I was crying.

Seriously, they were whisked away by security so quickly, I don't even know where they went....;)

I just started reading this thread and had to say: we were there that day too! So bizarre! And we also noticed how quickly they seemed to vanish. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad I've been reading this thread because I had it happen to me last night, and I was able to not laugh out loud (until later :lmao: ) because I had heard it here first.

At work last night, I got out my Disney planning stuff during my dinner break. A student who was also on break asked me about it, and I told her we were going back to WDW in October. She then gushed all about how awesome WDW world was and how she and her family went ALL THE TIME when she was growing up, and how she loved it so much she even wanted to get married there!

No problem yet!

She worried I would think it was over the top to want a Disney wedding. I asked her if she came here (to the DIS), and she had never heard of it. I told her there was a whole board for couples planning Disney weddings; it wasn't odd at all.

Still no problem. :)

So then she tells me in all their trips they had never been to Epcot. She asked what was there. Epcot is my favorite park, so I pull out my maps and start talking about Mission:Space, Soarin', Test Track, and the World Showcase. She is in awe. She thought...yes...that all of Epcot was in the silver ball. :lmao: I seriously had never heard of anyone who thought that before this thread, so thankfully I wasn't as shocked as I might have been if I hadn't read of others with the same misconception. I told her Spaceship Earth is no more all of Epcot than the castle is all of Magic Kingdom! She had been to DisneyLand also and loved Soarin' there. She had no idea it was also at Epcot.

She is all excited to go back again and visit Epcot!

Then...she asked me about tickets! She thought you needed separate tickets to visit Epcot, or that you needed Park Hoppers if you wanted to visit more than one park. As in MK today, DS tomorrow, you need Hoppers. Ummmm....no. More than one park on the SAME DAY, yes, you need hoppers, but I explained that the tickets were for WDW and you could visit any one of the 4 parks on each day of your trip with just a base ticket.

It was just shocking to me that someone who had been so many times and loved it enough to want to have their wedding there was still so misinformed!!

Oh my goodness!! I just realized she looked at me blankly when I said "four parks" but our break was over and I didn't get to ask her if she'd been to HS or AK. I'm going to have to talk to her again tonight!!

These are great! I'd thought I'd share.
We took eldest DD to Disney when she was 2, and while on the Safari ride at AK she spent the entire ride saying, "I think I hear Swiper!... Swiper no swiping! Swiper no swiping!"
This wasn't at Disney, but this morning my youngest DD3 said, "I want to watch the Wonder Pets save the Lion King."
I think my girls are having troubles keeping Disney and Nick straight! :rotfl:

Overheard at AK two weeks ago - a father pointing out Lilo & Stitch meet and greet and telling his daughter "Look, there's Dora!"
At Pop Century a father walking wih his little girl to their room by the Roger Rabbit statue- "Look, it's Bugs Bunny"

Actually, it's Linny, and everyone knows that Ming Ming would say "sewious". ;)

I had quite a few mothers laugh on overhearing my reminder speech en route on monorail/bus to the parks each day in December. I would say, in a cheerful tone "We are going to a place filled wth Disney characters, your favorite foods and snacks, rides, and toys. And if you cannot be happy and act nice there, I will think you must be VERY, very tired and we will head immediately back to the hotel for a nap." It worked!

And my son (3) made people standing nearby laugh loudly twice in DL last month. His super-serious grownup facial expressions and body language help.

In line for Soarin, he turned to me very intently, turned his palms up and raised his shoulders and asked "Are we gonna fly over California for REAL?...or jus for pretend?" When I told him pretend he gave a little acknowledging nod of his head and said "Oh, for pretend. OK!"

On Space Mountain, as we exited, he furrowed his little brow and said "Outer space is a lot bumpier dan I expected!"

Once at DHS I heard a man refer to an attraction as "The Planes, Trains and Automobile Show". Not doubt he meant Lights, Motors, Action.

You may have overheard my husband!! That's what we call the stunt show! :rotfl:

Last night I was at the travel agent's office waiting for her to finish up with her clients. There was another couple there and they started looking at a Walt Disney World brochure. When they get to the part about FastPass the guy says :
"How can that work well? Everybody will be using those and making the lines just as long!"
To which the girlfriend replies : "No it's fine, only people staying on the resorts can use it."

Hadn't thought about this before, but I did hear something interesting at our Travel Agent's office back in January. I was at our AAA early on a Saturday morning to make my deposit for our upcoming trip and the Disney TA had another family ahead of me that she was taking care of. It was a couple with a little girl who was probably about 4. They were going over all the paperwork with the TA and she got up to print out their reservations and receipt and came back with a child's brochure for the girl. She had been bored out of her mind up to that point, but when she saw the brochure it was like a light went off. She asked her mom if they were going to Disney World and her mom told her they were going to go to Disney World and they were going to eat breakfast with Handy Manny. Upon hearing that news, this bored, shy little girl immediately perked up and started running around the office going up to anyone who would listen to her and telling them she was going to have breakfast with Handy Manny.

I finally had my turn with the TA and we chatted a bit about how great it is to see excitement like that. She then says her parents may end up regretting bringing her to the TA with them because it's probably going to be a long 9 months before she gets her breakfast.:lmao::rotfl2:

Yep! And that's exactly why we don't tell our girls when we're going.
No, I'm serious. We drive and they found out when they saw the billboards on I-4. :lmao:

Priceless! :lmao:

While at the Hoop-de-doo revue, the kids at the table next to us were obviously very tired and the middle son (9ish?) was just not paying very much attention to the show. At one of the points in the show when the castmembers come into the audience to tease the guests, one of the girls came and was telling him corny jokes etc. etc. etc. As she was leaving, the boy exclaimed--loudly enough that she and everyone at the surrounding tables heard--

"Who the HECK was that????"

Later, on the bus back to the hotel, the same family's little girl complained loudly to her mom that "MooooOOOooom! Jimmy sent Tinkerbell to the fifth dimension and won't bring her back!"

The next day, while in line for Cinderella, I was blessed to watch a little boy's encounter with Belle.

Belle: And what do you want to be when you grow up?
Little Boy: I want to be a Big Boy!

I love this thread! Some of these stories made me crack up :lmao: The next time I'm in the World I will be listening much more intently to what other people are saying.

These are so funny!!

One of the things that cracked us up was in AK, it was about 10am, I think, and we could hear a little boy having a major tantrum somewhere nearby, we couldn't see him but EVERYONE could hear him... I don't know what his mom was trying to get him to do, but all of a sudden he screams "BUT I HAVEN'T HAD MY ICE CREAM TODAY!!!!!!!"  Me and my DH both just cracked up!!! I was like, please someone get that boy his ice cream!! ;)
