Strange things guests say

I was nice and took a friend up to WDW for the day.... after Illuminations I asked him what he thought of the park. He was like this park is great....I am glad we didnt go to that stupid Epcot park.

DOH! :) Here is his Sign!

Another couple friends I spent the day at Epcot with kept making me laugh to no end when the kept referring to Fast Pass as FAST TRACK! lol

Shortly after AK first opened my Mom and I were walking along soaking up all the new sights and a few feet in front of us is a woman telling her companion how surprised she is to see all the cracks and tire tracks in the pavement since the part was supposed to be brand new ...

Next, I may have said on another thread but this was a couple of years ago. We had just gotten out of our dinner at CRT and MVMCP had already started. Since we did not have tickets, we were exiting the park. On our way we witnessed a man in the middle of Main Street yelling at this poor CM. He was upset at how crowded the party was and that they paid all of this extra money not to have these crowds of people. He "demanded" that Disney lessen these crowds immediately or he expected a full refund...this was unacceptable! The poor CM was trying to explain it was a sold out night, but this continued to say that was unacceptable and that he wanted people kicked out. :sad2:

I wonder if Disney ended up refunding his tickets. Normally these tickets aren't refundable. It sounds like he had a scheme to get a refund and used crowds as an excuse. I had a cheap, chiseling uncle who would make up grievances all the time and then make a big, obnoxious drama about it to either get money back or get things comped. He would proudly tell his stories later, and he convinced himself of his righteousness. Those who listened to his stories, however, weren't so convinced.

Ah..

Do those days end at 7 when the party isn't going on? I think if I was a non-ticket holder, I'd be a little upset about having to leave early.

No, the MK only closes at 7:00 on party nights, although they do have 3 or 4 party nights per week during November and December. I checked the calendar on the WDW website, and it looks like 8:00 is a typical non-party closing time, except on Saturdays when it's 10:00, with a few evening EMH days when closing is at 11:00.

My DSis and I were on the boardwalk in Frontierland watching the riverboat go past when a father and son approached. The boy was about 8 and seemed very excited about his visit. A small crane was nearby looking for dropped food and the boy pointed at it and said, "Look at the bird, Dad!" Dad said, "Thats not a real bird, son. All the animals here are robots."

I don't think the England/Wales comparison to Canada/USA works either. You don't need to provide documentation or cross a border between England and Wales. The USA and Canada have no common governance, whereas England and Wales are two parts of a United Kingdom. And for many hundreds of years, Wales had no independence at all. It was conquered in 1282, and didn't have it's own national assembly until 1999. Wales does not have treaties or independent relations with other nations, so I think it's understandable that there's confusion among people who don't live in the U.K.

I said "much more like" not exactly like!! But yes, you have some valid points, and thanks for the history lesson...

One of my professors actually believes that! She once overhead me telling someone about a time when we saw a ton of ducks at Disney, and she absolutely would not believe me that the ducks were the actual wildlife of the area, not animatronics.

That was our favorite line at Disneyland a couple years ago, "Look! Animatronic ducks!" We're probably on a "overheard" thread somewhere ...

On a side note, I just discovered a website/blog called "Overheard at Disneyland" that has a lot of these type of goofy things that people say. I guess you can Twitter them. It covers WDW too.

As we approached the photopass viewing area after riding Test Track, a couple tried to scan their fingers on the sensor instead of using a photopass card! I have no idea what they thought the machine was for!

Once I was on Soarin' and a middle-aged woman screamed during the ENTIRE ride about how scared she was. When we "soared" over the orange trees, she screamed, "Ahhh, I'm afraid of heights!!!!" When we reached the ocean she screamed, "Ahhh! I'm afraid of the ocean because I might drown!" Someone then told her that none of this was real and she said, "I know but I'm still scared!" and CONTINUED to scream. :sad2:

It doesn't bother me if the person is over 40, as it's entirely possible that the first few times they went to WDW, Magic Kingdom was all there was. In that case, to them the Magic Kingdom will always be Walt Disney World.

Thank you, bc this is me! I try to catch myself when I refer to MK but I know I still say Disney World.

Apparently she missed the video you have to watch before getting on the rides that tells you, in very plain English, that if you're afraid of heights you shouldn't ride the ride. :sad2:

she screamed on a ride that, although it goes up like 40 feet and simulates height, remain stationary the whole time....I wonder if she screams like that on the carousel too...

My husband says stuff like this all the time to make the kids laugh. I'm sure others believed he was serious many times along the way.

My DH will call AK "The Lion King"

"Are going to do The Lion King tomorrow?"

My friend's daughter blurted out some doozies last week and I'm sitting here trying to remember some of them. She got really excited one day and said "We're going to Disney World tomorrow!!" BTW we were in Epcot at the time, had done DHS the day before, and had arrived the day before that.....yeah you guessed it-we were going to MK the next day. I reminded her we had been in DW for 3 days, but you know.

The best phrase I heard the whole trip was from some random kid as we were walking past a group of people waiting to get on their simulator thingy (blanking on what it's actually called)in Star Tours. All of a sudden we hear "I can see through my eyes!!" I tripped I was laughing so hard.

Oh and we totally bought the "What time is the 3 o'clock parade?" shirt for my friend's daughter. We all chipped in lol.

Phobias by their very nature are irrational. Countering one with logic is rarely effective.

She should not have gotten on the ride, true, but she may have told herself that since it isn't real, and she knew it isn't real would be sufficient.

She was wrong.

My then 6 year old relative while on Mission Space (before there was the less intense version): "Are we still in Florida?!"

Overheard at EPCOT back in the day of flamingos: "Are those ostriches?" "Yeah, yep. They are!"

From a CM friend at then MGM: A guest approached her and asked, "So where IS the castle???"

One of the cutest: A then 2 year old relative on Dumbo at the start up: "HE'S FLYIN! HE'S FLYIN!!!!!"
