Strange things guests say

I have large family and with that it helps to dress them similarly to help to keep visual track of them. I was playing with one of my son at the edge of the Poly pool. Two of my girls were swimming together, another was over at the other edge, another was swimming nearby and all have matching swim suits. A lady walked behind me and commented to her friend "My...who would have thought that one swim suit would be so popular!"

So I get back from a trip to WDW and my boss who has a 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter says to me, "I can't go to Disney with the kids. Disney's not for kids. Well, not until the youngest is at least 6."

I already know I'm going to get crucified for saying this, but I agree for numerous reasons- it's why my parents waited until my sister and I were 10 and 7, respectively, to take us for the first time.

Anyway, here's another funny thing I overheard:
Little kid looking at Captain EO poster- "Is that really Michael Jackson? He looks funny in this picture!" Little did this kid know that's actually how MJ originally looked...

This happened to me. I went in '99 after a few years break and really wanted to ride Mr. Toads which I really liked as a kid. I am embarrassed to say that I dragged my friends all over the park looking for that ride!

I went to Disneyland as a kid, so my very first trip to WDW I couldn't wait to ride the MK version of the Matterhorn! D'oh!

Not quite, strangely enough... compare his "Captain EO" days appearance to the cover of "Off The Wall" album.

September 2009 we stayed at All Star Movies and we were coming back from the parks and this little boy and his grandma were returning and walking in front of us. The liitle boy maybe 4 or 5. looks up at his Grandma and says "I promise i'll be good if we go home now." Poor thing was just beat. Although I will say he was one of the best behaved kids I had seen at Disney World. We ran into them a few times coming and going.

True, but at that point the only major change he'd had was the first nose job- the EO posted looks a lot more like his original face than anything after about 1988 or so.

1) We were on the monorail and a little girl was playing on and swinging around the pole/handrail you hold on to to keep steady. Her mom just sighs deeply and says, " I hope this isn't a prediction about what she's going to be when she grows up." The whole car burst out laughing!

A few years ago we were riding the bus back to our resort from DTD and DD was playing with a small Minnie that we had just purchased. She had Minnie's legs straddling the pole and she was holding her by the feet sliding her up and down and twirling her around the pole. DH, older DD, and I along with a group of young people sitting across from us were trying to stifle our laughter at the inappropriateness, so I quietly suggested to DD that she stop. She very loudly replied, "But why Mommy? Minnie likes to be on the pole!" I was rather embarassed, but everyone on the bus had a good laugh. :upsidedow

This last trip the same DD was twirling around the pole on the monorail and I asked her to quit. My teen DD started laughing, leaned over to me and quietly said, "But why Mommy? She likes to be on the pole"

In the hot tub at BLT last month.

Man out walking around leans over the fence and says to his people in the hot tub:

You should see the big bird down here by the lake.
Lady: Oh those are mini-emu's
Lady's friend: There is no such thing.
Lady: Yes ~ it is a mini emu! Jennifer told me the other day when I asked her what they were.
Lady's friend: Well she is graduating with a degree in Micro Biology and has lived her for four years... hmmm I've never heard of a mini emu!

Along comes Jennifer.

Lady: Jennifer ~ remember those birds I asked you about the other day? What are they?
Jennfier: I don't know what they actually ARE but I call them mini-emus!

My aunt and I were laughing so hard....

My aunt to Lady: I can think of some better ways you could have spent that 100K!

I know I posted this somewhere before but must not have been this thread....

Recent trip, riding POTC. Lady about 50something and friend just after we go down the little drop says "whoa....that wasn't there the last time i rode this or I would have NEVER ridden it again!" she went on about it for a little while...she really thought that was some major drop (and new lol). She also remarked that the ride was so much better now than it had been before because of all the updated "animation."

I also heard people refer to MK as "magic mountain" quite a few times.

A short favorite of mine:
Watching Fantasmic fairly close to the front and we come to the lake of fire part. A boy behind us (maybe 7 or 8) asks his father, "Dad, is that real fire?" to which his father replies, "No, it's fake."
And there I was suppressing a laugh as I feel the "fake" fire nearly cooking my face!!!
Maybe the dad was trying to keep his son from being scared, but it sure sounded more dumb than comforting!
My kids still laugh about it to this day, years later.

:rotfl2: I don't have children, but I LOVE listening to all of them in Disney.
I had a similar experience on the Kilimanjaro Safari. We were getting to the part in the ride where we are chasing the poachers down, and the little boy in front of my friends and I started freaking out. He was asking his mom, "Mommy, is this REAL?!?". My friends and I were a giggling a little at this, but then we got to the part where you go past Little Red (the animatronic baby elephant) and my friend says, "Oh, that's really sad! I can't believe they are going to make that baby elephant stay in there all day! That's pretty mean!". The rest of us just looked at him like "Are you Kidding?" We teased him about it all day. He was laughing at a little kid, but he did the exact same thing! The rest of the day on all the other rides we would ask him, "Mommy, is this real?". :rolleyes1

Once my friend was sitting in a stall in the bathroom in Epcot. A little boy, ( my friend said he looked 6 or so) crawled under the door of his stall, got half way in, looked up at my friend, and in a mad voice says, "You're not my Dad!"

My friend was seriously mortified. He said he was so startled he didn't even say anything and the kid just took off.

I just have to say that I LOVE this topic, I only wish I had something to add. I check this link everyday, and I get a good Laugh everytime!! On my next trip I will be keeping my ears open!!!

When I worked for the Disney Florist, I got a call one day asking if I could arrange for Shrek to come to their room. First, I explained that no characters ever go to guest rooms. Then, I explained that Shrek is not a Disney character. The woman told me that she was sure I was wrong about that and that her friend had a princess visit his room on a prior trip.

Again, I explained that no characters visit guest rooms and that, her friend may have had a princess visit his room, but it wasn't a Disney princess! :goodvibes

Mine was a little embarrassing but we were on the bus ride back to OKW after the parks had closed pretty late. My daughter was 4 at the time and sitting on my lap. It was very quiet as most people were pretty exhausted after the long day. The lights are always dark on those rides home and all of a sudden this cute little soft voice says "Daddy, pull my finger"...well the whole bus burst out laughing and my wife gave me a really nice kick under the seat. We still laugh at that one today:)

On one of our trips my youngest DS was 2 1/2 and we were staying at Boardwalk Villas. We woke up before the rest of the family and decided to take a walk outside. When we got outside, my DS looked up at the Swan and said "look Mommy, Goose Village" I laughed so hard. The rest of the trip and even to this day everytime we go by the Swan we all say "look, Goose Village" We usually get lots of wierd looks and have even had people correct us :rotfl2:

Very cute! Stayed at the BWV also and to my then 3 year old, the swan looked like a chicken??!!:confused3 Because every time she looked over at it she said "hey Mom, there's a chicken on the roof"!:lmao:

A few years ago at the Grand Floridian I was waiting for the Resort Monorail and I heard this girl ask one of the Monorail Cast Members "Is there where I can get a bus to Downtown Disney?"

Maybe it was her very first time at WDW and honestly didn't know where the Grand Floridian bus station was located, however I thought it was funny since they have signs saying Grand Floridian Monorail station and the locations it stops at. So it would be hard for her and everyone else not to have noticed them.
