Strange things guests say

One time we were sitting somewhere around WDW chatting with an American couple, and they asked us if we'd ever been to Disneyland. We said no, but that we had visited Disneyland Paris in France many times.

The response (in a slow Texan drawl) was "They have a Disneyland in France? Is it big enough?". Made us smile anyway, perhaps they thought France was a tiny island somewhere just before you fall off the edge of the world...

There is no way that saying something cute and lighthearted in any tone or level of voice compares to the terrible repellant obnoxiousness of this:

I think she is just trying to be a troll. ;) Just let it go.:upsidedow

So I don't sound like a complete dope, when I go to MK, what is everyone talking about with the it's a small world ride? The whole Iceland thing and America? Please enlighten me so I can look intelligent when I go on it!:confused3 Thanks

This came from my own family.
We were walking back from our princess breakfast in Epcot and as we walked through Mexico there was a big sign that said Margaritas. My 5 year old niece sees the sign and yells out, "I love Margaritas!!" We got a few looks and giggles and someone made a comment that we start them young in our family.

There is restaurant near her house called Margaritas that she loves and she thought it was the same one.

I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but here's my take on it. Through the rest of the ride, each culture/country is represented by their tradtional garb, in full color. Towards the end of the ride everyone makes a final appearance, dressed in traditional garb, but wearing white, representing we're all not so different, and it's a small world after all.

From what I've seen on this thread, as long as you don't say, "Hey! It's Iceland!" towards the end of the ride, you'll be ok. :)

In 2008 we were at DHS, sitting out by the fountain outside Muppets 3D. After a few minutes we heard a really high pitched scream. When we turned to look, we saw a high school aged girl throwing down her bag in front of the fountain. Her friends seemed to be trying to calm her down about something when she literally stamped her foot and yelled, at the top of her voice, "I DON'T WANT TO SEE THE PUPPETS!"

Now whenever we see someone throwing a tantrum, DH and I exchange a look and say "they don't want to see the puppets.":rotfl:

We have been 4 times and I have NEVER heard anything anywhere close to what is posted here about random strangers. I do think the funniest are said by children and those posted by parents or relatives are hysterical. I do think someone calling MK "Disney World" isn't a big deal. In fact, to be bothered by that is just a little anal. I'm thinking some of these "tales" are not entirely true. While they are funny, I do have to wonder.

Really? wow.

No I don't have any desire to be a troll. :lmao::lmao:
But yes I think YELLING out some silly thing that you think is funny in the middle of Main Street USA is quite rude.

Why not just say it to your group?:confused3 Why would you have to shout out and disturb everyone aroud you?:confused3:confused3 It's not that the original comment was not a little funny but I don\t thing you need to be yelling out and bothering everyone around you.

What's your prefered volume? Ya know, just in case we're there at the same time. I'd hate to talk too loudly so that you can't hear the....oh, wait, all the other people around you talking. Yeah, I'd totally mute myself so you don't miss out on hearing the other people talk.

I'm pretty sure that persons mom didn't get on a PA system or anything and shout this. In fact, I'm sure if you were able to ask anybody around them at the time, most probably didn't even hear her. It's kind of loud on M.S. USA anyway and most people are minding their own business and talking amongst their party. That's just me, though. :upsidedow

Oh, I just remembered one I heard that I thought was so funny I ended up passing it along. At the end of the ToT pre-show when it says "this elevator travels directly to the Twilight Zone," somebody yelled "the gift shop" over "the Twilight Zone," which everyone in the room laughed about, even the CM. I loved that so much that I did it the next two times I rode it, which elicited pretty much the same reactions. (The best part was the little kid who said "what's so funny?" in response to the laughter.)

I was once in the store at the exit to the Maelstrom in Norway and this man and his son (about 8-10) were trying on the viking hats. The man then grabbed one of the hats with braids (for viking women) and explained to his son that this was the hat that the strongest, most fearsome viking would wear. At that point the mother came over and tried to convince the son otherwise, but he was already eyeing the braided hat.

A few hours later I was over in France and saw the little boy walk by in one of the braided viking hats :rotfl2: At least the mom tried....

I can think of a couple from Mission Space (orange side of course). The first was in the pre-launch briefing area. A very visibly nervous boy of about 9 to his father..."This is NOT going to have a happy ending."

A different time right after Mission Space in the gift shop a boy says to his father "Mom said I could pick out anything I wanted." Father: "Allright...come here and I'll show you what you're going to pick out."

Was the boy named Sue?

:lmao::rotfl:

Funny at the time....

We were watching Devine at Animal Kingdom for maybe 5 minutes or so. A small group in front of us were watching pretty intently at the time. All of a sudden I hear the grandmother say in strong southern twang....."That's not real, ya know!" I had to chuckle. It was so cute!

Am I the only person seriously considering doing this next trip? :rotfl2:

No. I was thinking the same thing! :rotfl2:

Of course, I also thought it was big fun last summer, when we were waiting to enter Epcot, to speak loudly about how excited I was to ride Horizons and World of Motion. (I've also been known to marvel at the animatronics on the Safari ride at AK.) :rolleyes1
