Strange things guests say

My now 15 year old son was tall enough to ride Space Mountain at age 4 or 5 (he is now 6' 2" and growing). He was unsure about the ride and was scared because he didn't want to go to outer space. I explained the ride and he reluntantly agreed to go on it.

I was worried that he would not be happy after we got off because it was too fast. Well....we got off of the ride and he was not a happy camper. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "Mom you lied to me and I am mad at you!"

I was confused becuase I was pretty open and honest about how fast the ride was and what it did. So of course I asked him what I lied about?

He said, "You lied. We really went to outer space and I told you that I didn't want to go!!!!"

He was mad at me for over a year on that one. Eventually he went back on the ride and loved it, but I was on the 'Bad Momma" list for quite some time.

That's so cute. :goodvibes

I was once on the monorail platform at MK and an older couple was arguing with the cm that the last time they were there the monorail went to All Stars.

There is no way that saying something cute and lighthearted in any tone or level of voice compares to the terrible repellant obnoxiousness of this:

I have one that my DH did in Christmas 09. (In fact, I searched through the other thread to see if he was mentioned!) We were in Epcot getting pictures with Beauty and the Beast. Dh pulls out this one:

"Hey, if things don't work out with him, give me a call" with a totally straight face :scared1:

I kid you not, I was MORTIFIED, she played it off really well and Beast was hilarious. He moved to the other side of Beauty and acted like he was about to come after my DH.

I have video of it. Now I can look back and laugh, but at the time I was sooooo embarassed!

He pulled it again too when we were eating at CRT (which was an early anniversary celebration since that's where we at on our honeymoon) and hit on Cinderella. She actually called him out on it and told him he better be paying attention to me, not her!

Once at DHS I heard a man refer to an attraction as "The Planes, Trains and Automobile Show". Not doubt he meant Lights, Motors, Action.

On my first trip I was 9 and would NOT go on TOT.
Well my dad told me that the people you could see when the doors opened were dummies and the whole ride was a simulator! Needless to say I went on it and got the fright of my life!
I never did find out if he actually thought that or if he was just making it up! Either way I'm sure someone heard him and had a laugh at his expense!

On one of our trips my youngest DS was 2 1/2 and we were staying at Boardwalk Villas. We woke up before the rest of the family and decided to take a walk outside. When we got outside, my DS looked up at the Swan and said "look Mommy, Goose Village" I laughed so hard. The rest of the trip and even to this day everytime we go by the Swan we all say "look, Goose Village" We usually get lots of wierd looks and have even had people correct us :rotfl2:

One "strange" thing said at WDW was actually by me and was more dumb than strange..... My nieces didn't get to meet any princesses before they left our most recent trip so I dragged my sons to the Princess Meet and Greet so I could get autographs and pictures of Princess Aurora and Cinderella for my nieces. My boys refused to talk to any princesses (party poopers! but I get it...) so I met Aurora, Belle and Cinderella by myself. When I got to Belle, she asked me if I ever had time to read and I said yes. She asked what my favorite kind of stories were.....and I guess my brain said I should NOT tell Belle I enjoy Vampire books and I said.... "uhhhhh.....Princess Books!!" As soon as I said it I was glancing around to see who might have been listening. She said "Really?? Oh ok! Maybe you can come over for book club!" I felt like an idiot for the next 15 mins. :confused3

Same trip, at DHS. I was in a super short 10 min TOT line and a man and his 7 yr old son in front of me struck up a conversation asking if I've even been on TOT before. Anyway, the man tells me how happy he was that they got to come inside DHS today because they weren't allowed in MK the day before. :confused3 It didn't seem busy enough that they would turn people away so I asked him why he wasn't allowed in. He said they stayed offsite and after being charged for parking and getting to the entry gate, they were told they were too early and only resort guests were being allowed in for EMH. He was mad and said they should have been told that before they paid to park and that they had to drive back to their hotel. I was trying to explain he could have gotten in at 9 at regular park opening but by then we were entering the preshow room for the ride and afterwards they went to a different line to the elevators. I just felt bad that they probably wasted that day of their trip but maybe they figured it out and went back later!

We were watching Captain EO, and behind us was a little girl (5 or 6 maybe) with probably her dad.

Girl: "Is that a boy or a girl?"
Dad: "It's a boy, hunny."

A few minutes go by.

Girl: "But is it supposed to be a boy or a girl?"
Dad: "It's supposed to be a boy, hunny."

I guess that's not too strange, I just thought it was funny (because as a parent, you are inevitably going to get questions like that from kids...).

Passed another parent talking to her kid: "I hope you're feeling a little less puketastic today".
:rotfl:

We were in Epcot by Noraway enjoying some school bread an gentleman pushing a stroller asked his wife "is this European?". We cracked up! When did European become a country?:rotfl2:

We had an ADR for Tusker House before AK opened. We were waiting for the bus with two other families. It pulled up and said AK, so we got on. We started chatting with one of the other families about getting up so early for breakfast, etc. The bus dropped us off at AK. As we were walking towards the gate, they asked me if I knew how to get to Boma. It would have been funny, but I felt so bad for them! I bet people make that mistake all of the time.

Same thing happened to us, and funnily enough it was our first trip together to Disney, and was our first day as well (luckily we had obviously done our planning!)

We'd gone to AK from ASMu and had transferred to a bus to go to AKL for Boma breakfast. A couple got on with us and we were the only people on the bus, so they started chatting to us, and asked us where we were going. After telling them we had an ADR at Boma, they said they'd been all the way through AK to the african section trying to find Boma, and after speaking to a CM they discovered the had to go to AKL and not AK :lmao:

Same thing with my nephew. He was about 4 the first time they went to Disneyland. The first thing they rode was Buzz Lightyear. The second was Space Mountain. After those two, he turned to his mom and said "Are all the rides going into space? Because I'm tired of going into space!"

Not a guest, but a co-worker...

Her: You goin to disney this year?
Me: no, not this year
Her: we've been thinking about going to Disney and getting on that Harry Potter ride! You ever been on it?
Me: no, HP is at Universal.
Her: (confused look) I thought Universal was a Disney park.
Me: no, its separate. If you really plan on going, come talk to me and I will give you some tips.

:lmao: I guess it's not nice to laugh but I couldnt help it. I wonder how many people don't research their trips and go expecting things like that?

I had that EXACT conversation verbatim with my cousin last week.

walking down main street in the Magic Kingdom a particularly loud woman began yelling "cover your ears, they're brainwashing you."....

that was my mom.

Does she know that in DL they pump small amount of Nitrous Oxide into the air to keep everyone happy? No, really. I read it on the internet, so you know it's true...

We have been 4 times and I have NEVER heard anything anywhere close to what is posted here about random strangers. I do think the funniest are said by children and those posted by parents or relatives are hysterical. I do think someone calling MK "Disney World" isn't a big deal. In fact, to be bothered by that is just a little anal. I'm thinking some of these "tales" are not entirely true. While they are funny, I do have to wonder.

Not strange but cute....DS (17) and I were finishing up a day at Epcot and on our way out of Illuminations, I stopped to visit the restroom. While I was in there waiting this adorable little girl (about 3) in full princess regalia was dancing around shouting out, "Hey mommy! This was the BEST.DAY.EVER!! BEST.DAY.EVER!!"

Her poor mom was clearly exhausted and was just responding with a lackluster, "Sure, baby. Yep. Sure baby."

So, the little girl kinda tugged on her mom's hand and said, "NO! Listen to me...this.was.the.BEST.DAY.EVER!!!"

I couldn't help giggling and agreeing with her.

When I came out of the restroom I shared the story with DS, and he grabbed me in a great big bear hug and said, "You know what mommy??? It really was the BEST.DAY.EVER!!"

I love Disney magic...and we have a new mantra in life.

LOL. And. Crying.

It doesn't bother me if the person is over 40, as it's entirely possible that the first few times they went to WDW, Magic Kingdom was all there was. In that case, to them the Magic Kingdom will always be Walt Disney World.

Amen. I'm 41, and the number of times that I have been to WDW when there was one park and the number of times that I have been to WDW when there was more than one park almost exactly the same.

Far too late to warn people at that point anyway. :)

Andre

Amen. Again.

This has happened twice to me while riding it's a small world. The other guests on the boat were obviously different people.

But both were families that liked to go through the ride and name all of the countries/continents/cities. "Look, France!" "We're in Morocco!" "It's Hawaii!" Then they got to the last room that is all white... "What is this? Is it Iceland? It must be Iceland!" :rotfl2:

Both times, it was very difficult for me to control my urge to explain to these families the meaning of the ride "it's a small world!"

***And they were not children... they were adults!

:) Dh told me a story about what he saw happen in EPCOT when we returned to our room on our last trip. He saw 2 little boys about 6 and 8. One of them had run out of water in his mister. The other brother said " here I have some Sprite left" and preceded to load the mister with soda. DH said he had to refrain from all out laughter as the brother started spraying the toddler brother that was in the stroller. Mom and Dad where oblivious. :rotfl2:

My Mom and Dad went with us in 2008. We were at MK one night when Jungle Cruise was closed, but my Mother was attracted to the little boats. She went over and preceded to drive one around for ten minutes. She got into it and was really acting like a Jack Sparrow at the helm, spinning and spinning the wheel. I told her after we enjoyed this for several minutes that she had to put money in the machine to "drive" the boats for real.....I still don't think she believes me. DH and I decided to just let her have her fun and told she had doen "a really good job". :rotfl:

I've gotten guests at my window wanting a 2 day ticket, one to Universal and one to Disney World (Guhhhhhhh x2) but never guests solely wanting Universal tickets. At least SOME aren't that dumb. :rotfl2:
