Need advice - purchasing small resale contract

I want to add some points to a direct contract. I found a 50 point contract for resale for the same resort and use year.

How do I determine if the asking price is reasonable? According to www.dvcforless.com the price per point is lower than the average for this resort. Given that, does it make sense to make a full price offer?

This will be my first resale purchase. What else should I be looking for as I navigate this process? I'd like to avoid any mistakes that first time resale buyers are likely to make.

If there are resources (threads here or other websites) anyone can point me to regarding buying resale I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks!

I bought a 50 pt contract last year and offered asking, but it was BWV and those are harder to come by and very desirable b/c they can go further. The smaller the contract, the higher the price per point. It would matter to me though if it were stripped. My contract was double loaded with banked points too. If it's not stripped, there's not a lot to choose from, and it matches your use year, you're probably not going to save much on such a small contract by debating over a few dollars a point, just go with it.

I would check the ROFR thread on here to see the range of prices that are usually accepted for small contracts at this resort. It might also be worth checking the rejected offers threads to see how hard it can be to get the perfect price!

If this is your ideal contract and you need the points quickly then you probably don't want to lose it over what will seem to be a really small amount over the life of the contract. Generally, though, there will always be another contract. I would personally offer a little lower to see what they say. The worst is no!

If dvcforless says it’s good then I would say you are most likely good.

It's basically the same, those sites are based on the rofr thread info. you just don't have to sort through them.
I figured as much. I'm just pointing out the "generational gap" between the younger and older tenured disboard members in this thread.

I'm just a stubborn millenial who refuses to go to dvcforless or dvcrofr (never been even tho it's just a click away). I've also never seen Avatar, Mean Girls, or A Walk to Remember. lol.

Ha, I had to look it up, b/c I don't keep up with all the generational terminology, but apparently I'm GenX and I def use those sites. Sounds like you need to put your walker away, b/c it's actually not hip to be square.

I have rarely seen the board sponsor permit negotiation on the smaller contracts. If it is a contract you want - especially if you’re picky about resort and use year - don’t worry too much about price…

I would also say, if you are new to DVC there can be a desire to buy a small contract just to say you are a member of the club… be careful to make sure that small contract can actually suit your needs…

I already have addonitis, I don't need addictive websites to fuel the that fire! D.A.R.E. Just say no kids! lol 8-):P

I understand the allure of the small contract but man do the closing costs and/or fees add exponentially more as the contracts get smaller.

If hypothetically you could get a 25 point OKW contract for say even $100pp from let's say Fidelity, you'd be approaching paying half of the contract cost in closing and fees! But I know if you want/need it then it is what it is.

A stubborn millennial? You’re a youngster, not supposed to be stubborn. lol
It is addicting tho for sure, and as far as Avatar, I’m not a big fan, but I think if you’re ever going to go to Pandora at AK, it might be better if it’s not all unknown.
