I just read that Storyteller Cafe is inexpensive but good. What kind of restaurant is this? Is it sit-down? Casual? Would I need to make reservations, or could I just walk in with my kids if we didn't eat before heading home from the parks?

Thank you!

Its still about 10 a plate but its not bad-

Its sitdown casual with either a menu or buffet-

Id recommend PSs- They are usually are rather popular place

The real treasure at GCH is Whitewater Snacks- Its the "Fast Food" location near the pool its very well priced and large portions. Very good :)

I would make a reservation just to be safe.... However, with you being there at the end of September, it really shouldn't be an issue.
Every meal I've had at Storyteller's has been wonderful. A really nice, underrated gem (along with Whitewater Snacks). I'd say the price is average to any sitdown restaurant (entrees running for $10 to $20 per person).

Storyteller's also has a buffet at breakfast and dinner. The breakfast had a fairly standard breakfast lineup. The dinner was a little light as far as offerings (check the lineup before you decide).

But the dessert/pastry offerings for the Storyteller's buffet was outstanding. The dinner desserts were fantastic. And the breakfast pastries were also very good. The dessert/pastry chef deserves a raise!!!

I'm a fan of Storyteller's Cafe too. I went there for the breakfast buffet, which we really enjoyed, and also for dinner. During dinner, we ordered off the menu because we weren't very hungry, but I thought the buffet offerings looked good as we walked past them.

For dinner, I only had a salad (it had pears, nuts, and cheese in it -- excellent!), and a corn chowder. The corn chowder there is out of this world! And while I love clam chowder, I'm not a huge corn chowder fan, but there's was great!! We thought it was a very reasonably priced meal, at least by Disney standards.

And ditto about Whitewater Snacks, we liked that a lot too for a quick bite!

Looking forward to trying out Whitewater Snacks next week. Yum! I know I saw this posted before, but I don't remember where...could you tell me where the exit to GCH is located in DCA? We'd like to take a park break and catch a late lunch/early supper at Whitewater Snacks.

Also wondering if anyone recalls the current price of the dinner buffet at Storytellers. (A buffet with good desserts always peaks my interest. ;) ) TIA

The GCH entrance/exit is located near the Grizzly River Rapids ride. It's also not too far from Soarin' Over California (just up ahead and around the curve).

It's been a while since I did the buffett at Storyteller's but, I think it was about $24. I felt it was very much worth it. The quality of everything was just delicious and wonderful.
When you exit DCA into GCH, Turn left to get to Whitewater Snacks. To get to Storyteller's, you'll turn right and then go left at the corner.
Also, take some time to explore this hotel and it's details. Very, very, beautiful.

Another family here who like Storyteller's. Imho the Prime Rib on the buffet last month was worth the cost alone of the Buffet. Everything seemed really fresh. Not your normal steam table stuff. It was also nice to enjoy a great glass of wine with the buffet and not having it poured out of a jug.;) They make an excellent Roasted Corn Chowder. DW also enjoyed the ribs on another visit. We also thought the Cheese Ravioli was a great dish. Instead of marinara,it came in a lemon butter sauce with Artichokes,Sundried Tomato and Roasted Peppers. Marinara was also an option not listed on the menu. The chocolate fondue is an interesting end to a meal if you have room.

Went to Storytellers for the first time 2 weeks ago, and I can't believe we hadn't gone sooner. We are still talking about our lunch there. It was soooo good and surprising inexpensive. We will definitely go back.

Share with us what you (in your party too) had for lunch!

I am much too curious:bounce: (and maybe a bit hungry)

Thanks,

Just booked a quickie trip to DL in 3 wks! Yah! Anyway trying to find new different things, since we were there last October and did the standard stuff.

Are both of these eateries in the hotel? And do I understand right that I can leave the park and go directly into the hotel even though I am not an overnight guest?

Thanks so much! So much fun to get to plan and do new things.

Firefly777 and LeftCoaster, Thanks for the restaurant directions and price info. Hoping DH and I can try a meal at both places next week! :jester:

Hi

Well, I had the Burger and Fries (I know really exotic). But it was delicious and Big, I didn't even finish it. Definitely a lot better than the burgers and fries in the parks. Two people in our party had the oven roasted glazed chicken which came with fries and cole slaw. It looked REALLY good, I'll have to order that next time. My Dad ordered the Spaghetti. Which was a rather large portion. And he loved it. The service was terrific. Each time we took a sip of our drinks, she would come over and fill it up. They serve white and corn bread while you are waiting for your food. There were 5 of us, all adults, and it totaled around $65.00.

I think the adult dinner buffet was somewhere between $20 - $25, can't remember the exact price.

DD didn't eat, so not sure about the kid's price.

Daily Dinner Buffet at Storytellers:

5pm-10pm

Adults 12+ - $25.99
Child 3-11 - $9.95

And just in case:
Daily Breakfast Buffet
7:30am-11:30am

Adult- $19.99
Child- $10.99

Aloha and thank you for posting the prices.

There surely is a big gap between the adult price and kids price.

For dinner, is it only buffet or can you order?

Mahalo, Nancy
