We are coming from Northern NJ. We will leave NJ in the afternoon and drive for around 5 or 6 hours. Our next morning we want to stop somewhere fun along 95, not too far from the highway. I was thinking of visiting Savannah for the day. Is there anything fun to do there or 12year olds and a 6 year old? If not, any other suggestions for a day in an area along 95? Thanks

Savannah is a very interesting city, at least for adults. I've not looked at it through a child's eyes in many, many years. ;)

There is a lot of history in that city and just walking along the river front might be fun for them. There will be huge ships traveling up/down river that can be fascinating to behold. Some fun shops along that stretch as well. The drive from Savannah to WDW is about 5 hours.

We visited Savannah last year. It's a charming little city. Loved walking along the river and loved all the pretty park squares there. So much history. We stayed at the Planter's Inn right by the Pink house and strolled along the river. Lots of tanker ships going in and out. Also walked around many of the beautiful homes. At the time we were reading Midnight in the garden of good and evil. Visited the home where much of it took place. Also saw the movie with Kevin Spacey. Also took a tour with a local guide. Very interesting. Not sure how a 12 year old would like it unless they are into history. We loved it.

My son loves history. It sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the info.

Georgia girl here. Savannah is a beautiful city, one of my favorites. If your son likes history, south of the city is Ft. Oglethorpe. Gen. Lee was stationed there at one point and it played a big role of the war of Northern aggression. You could easily spend a half day there.
