OK, I get it. We all need to eat better. But when we go to Disney I call it the Disney diet. You are hard pressed to find any quality Diner food.

BUT, BUT, BUT, -- STOP THE MULITGRAIN BUNS ALREADY! Fine as an option, on checken or even a burger.

BUT A MULTIGRAIN BUN IS NOT GOING TO MAKE A HOT DOG A HEALTHY OPTION! I like an occasional hot dog and not with those silly buns. They tates and look like the same stuff they make there brown paper napkins from!

There I fee better! Now if I could just get onions without having to avoid them from the "grazing bar" topings. :scared1: OMG - who would eat onions, etc at any time other than when they first open and just take the coverings off. The sloppy self-serving is wayyyyyyyyyyy to scaryyyyyyy!:wizard:

I'd much rather a multigrain bun (I prefer it to bland white, but to each their own) over a hotdog any day! I do think the options of both should be available, however. People like different things. Do they only serve multigrain now? If so, I find that surprising. I'd hazard to guess most of the customers aren't into multigrain.

I think multigrain buns taste better than white bread buns, so perhaps I'm not seeing the problem because of that. By the same token, I'm a vegetarian, so the appeal of hot dogs is lost on me entirely, these days.

I have gone to disney so many times I have lost count, before and after the infamous "bun changing" and honestly, I have yet to really notice a huge difference in the buns:confused3 I guess it just doesn't bother me

I actually don't mind the taste of the buns, because I prefer wheat or multigrain bread, but I DO mind the dryness. Bleugh :sad2:

we also dont like white bread products. If I am going to eat a burger, I prefer it with a but of healthyness(is thata word, lol) multigrain roll, no fries but maybe veggie or fruit as a side. We dont let eating get out of hand because we are on vacation. If I did that I might spend my days feeling like crap instead of having the energy to go all day.

I don't mind a multigrain bun as a rule, but the ones I have had at WDW have been gross. I ended up eating my burger from Pecos Bills with a fork and knife because the bun just fell apart. It was disappointing.

Oh, I have to agree with the OP. The buns Disney has now for hot dogs and burger are dry. They fall apart if you put even the slightest bit more than a dollop of ketchup on them. It's gotten so bad that my husband has switched to eating pretzels instead of hot dogs for his snack. And I've asked for a different bun only to be denied. I'm not going to take my own burger or hot dog buns into Disney World so at this point, Disney is losing a sale of those items.

Disney bowed to the Health Police and some of us will have to look for alternatives.

I was raised eating only whole grain so I do not like white bread so I think I'm opposite of you. However I do not like hotdogs either. That being said there should be an option...especially with how expensive everything is :)

Dryness has nothing to do with whole wheat versus white flour. It has to do with cost and with spoilage. We eat exclusively whole grain bread and rolls, and the ones we buy are not the slightest bit dry.

I'm not sure I'd be so quick to say Disney is on a health crusade with their food, but that may be part of the equation. Many people feel, myself included, it has more to do with cutting costs (there are frequent thread that address that debate). What does seem to be consistent is the lack of choice in what is available. If you want an traditional all-beef hot dog on a traditional white bread bun at WDW, you might have better luck finding Jimmy Hoffa's body. :confused3

We do not eat white bread at home either but I have to agree with the OP, WDW buns have a lot to be desired since they switched over several years ago. We can get past the taste (not awful but not nearly as good as whole grain products we buy in the store or experience in non WDW restaurants) but they are dry and they always fall apart for us. We no longer order any counter service items with rolls because of it. But everyone has their own personal likes and dislikes and I remember that while most people complained about the initial switch over, there were plenty of fans for the new bread.

I prefer wheat bread/buns to white. But I honestly haven't noticed a huge difference in the buns when they switched. I don't see them as any dryer or crumblier as other posters have stated. But everyone likes different foods and some folks prefer all white bread/buns so I can understand your frustration at having something you liked being replaced with something you don't like as much.

We eat whole wheat bread at home too, but I have to agree with the OP. When it comes time for a cheeseburger or hot dog, they are just better with a white bun IMO. The wheat buns are probably not whole wheat and probably not lower in calories than their white counterparts. They are also really thick and big IMO. I prefer a smaller bun to a dry, thick one.

I like the new bread products better too. I have not eaten white bread, when given a choice, for 30 years. It has no flavor.

And I think I remember reading once that dry/hard vs. soft(in my mind fresh) is a regional thing as to which you prefer??? Random thought but just sayin.

I know, I don't even bother ordering the burgers or hot dogs anymore. The buns ALWAYS fall apart! WTH! Why even bother with a bun if it is going to fall apart and crumble messily into your hands. Yuck!

I agree with the OP. The buns are gross. Bring back white and fluffy buns!! I like whole wheat/grain at home but on burgers or hotdogs I prefer white buns. I don't even get CS burgers anymore at Disney because of the bun change. There are TS restaurants that serve hamburgers with white buns or rolls. Maybe if the quality of the multigrain buns were better I wouldn't mind so much but they're cheap crud to begin with. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Interesting thought. I suspect that if that's true, it is a coasts-versus-midlands thing, because I know lots of folks in New England, New York, Florida, California, and Washington State who like the whole grain stuff.
