Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Once John had finished signing all the paperwork necessary to rent a surrey bike, one of the guys came over and told us how to operate the bike. He showed us where the brake was, the bell and which way to start out. You can't tell it from the pictures I posted earlier, but the walkway to the marina is a little steep. All of us had to pedal hard to make it up the hill. And then, we were off!

Let me stop here and say that when we rented the surrey bikes back in 2007, the kids went nuts with the bell. The guy had told us to ring the bell when you see people in front of you so that they'd know you were coming. The bell isn't a typical "ring ring" bicycle bell. It's a "clang clang" clapper type bell. It's loud too! Lacey and Hunter would go crazy with the bell and we had the best time.

While we were pedaling, we were reminiscing about the bell incident and couldn't stop laughing even though it was 2 years later. Gosh, we can laugh at anything.

So, we're pedaling along and the walkway is almost empty. Does that stop Little Miss Lacey from clanging the bell? Absolutely not. She was clang, clang, clanging that bell like there was a fire somewhere and she was the firetruck trying to get there. And, when she wasn't clanging it, Hunter would lean over and give it a clang or two. Now, had there been a lot of people around, we wouldn't have let them keep doing it because it would have been a bit disruptive. But, we pretty much had the promenade all to ourselves.

Okay, time to post more pictures. Some may be a bit blurry because we were pedaling the crap out of the bike and had it going at a pretty good pace.

You can see that we were going fast when I took this picture:

Up ahead we could see the wooden walkway and Lacey started freaking out. She was pulling down on the brake (it's near the steering wheel). The way the surrey bikes work is the two people on the left side of the bike pedal together and the two people on the right side of the bike pedal together. Well, John was behind Lacey and he wouldn't stop pedaling even though Lacey had and she was putting on the brake. The bike was kind of wobbling. We were all laughing so hard because Lacey was freaking out. It was much much funnier in person.:rolleyes1

We continued on with our bike ride and, once we got out from under the shelter of the trees, we could see little sprinkles on the walkway. It wasn't raining hard, it was just sprinkling a little. The bike had a canopy on it so we didn't think the rain would bother us.

As soon as Lacey saw the next wooden walkway, she told John to slow it down!

***Interruption: Boss is yelling something. Let me go see what he is blubbering about!

I'm back. The boss had every right to be yelling/blubbering. Here in Louisiana, attorneys have to keep up with all of their time or they can't bill their clients. So, every time my boss talks to a client, types something, reads a fax, etc., he records it on a micro cassette recorder. About every week and a half or so, I go in his office and get the tape and start transcribing it. This morning, I told him I needed the tape but he was busy and didn't give it to me. He just opened up the tape recorder and the tape is blank. BLANK! Meaning, we have about two weeks worth of "reconstructing" to do. I am sure we won't be able to go back and find out everybody that he talked to and everything we did. I can tell that the rest of this day and tomorrow are going to be a *****.

I want to start a pre-trip report so I can share all of our 2010 trip plans. I'm thinking of naming it "Over the river and through the woods to Mickey's house we go....with Grandma in tow". Not sure if I like it or not. What do you think?
I like this one!!!
The surrey bike looks like a lot of fun!!!

I hope you are able to reconstruct a great deal of the missing time...good luck!

You can see that we were going fast when I took this picture:

So what were you doing 5-6 miles and hour? Zoom Zoom.

I know Lacey and the bridge issue for sure. Don't like em.

OT. I hope you don't have a terrible time reconstructing.

I'm back to work tomorrow and watching THE GAME

I fear the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. We went when I was...12? I can't remember. Anyway, I was out bobbing in the waves and went to jump to keep my head above a semi-large one, and when I came back down I landed funny and scraped my foot on the bottom of the pool. I went to my mom and sure enough, I had a nice little bloody spot. Now here comes the creepy part. I had one large circular gash directly between my littlest and second littlest toe. Connected to it on either side were two smaller circles. That's ride. I was bleeding a hidden Mickey. I kinda wanted to take a picture of it, but Mom suggested we get to First Aid. The guy was really friendly, and he commented on the pattern too. I actually have a scar from it, but it's just the one circle.

The first time we went to Typhoon Lagoon (shortly after it opened) We were all out in it except my Mom who stayed behind with my neice (I think she was 4 or 5 at the time) they were sitting at the VERY EDGE of the water, their behinds barely getting wet (they just wanted to get their feet and legs wet) and one of the big waves came and knocked them back and then turned them end over end! They were pretty scraped on their backsides and elbows. So Do Not sit at the edge!!

I kind of like that one too. I told John that he needed to be thinking too since he usually comes up with one liners pretty fast.

The bike was a lot of fun. I'm so glad that we decided to rent one again this year.

I don't know how fast we were going but I can tell you it was fast enough that our hair was blowin' in the wind!

I think what freaked Lacey out the most was the fact that there were railings around the bridge meaning we had something to actually run in to. When we were on the concrete pathway, it was open. Silly girl didn't think about the fact that we were riding around a 45 acre lake.

I hope the weather is not bad tomorrow. I'll be worried about you until I know you've made it safely.

How were the roads when Don drove home this evening?

OUCH!

So I told my mom I was recollecting my scrape story, and apparently I remembered wrong. It wasn't at Typhoon Lagoon, it was at Blizzard Beach. But they're pretty much the same, so the point still stands. Just thought I'd correct myself.

We have 5 inches of the white stuff and more to come mid week. It is cold. I know for you to get snow and 32 is cold. Bundle up and drive safe.

Jen, I hate winter right along with you. I'm like Dana, we need to be in Florida.

Ginny

I don't know if anyone said anything about this yet, but you might be just as cold in Florida. Today has warmed up a little bit, but we've been experiencing record lows for the past week! And tomorrow it's going to be the coldest day so far with rain! There are meteorologists discussing possibilities of it snowing tonight (snow flurries) in some parts of Florida! Needless to say, we're all freaking out down here.

That sounds like so much fun, the surrey bike! Too funny about Lacey and the bell and the brakes! I would have liked to have been there. Oh, wait, I was! Remember, Ginny and I tagged along.

Do you remember what we were doing, Ginny? When they were out on the bike?

Oh yeah, and not to rub it in or anything, but (roll tide).

WOW! Snow in FL. You'll have to keep us posted...

Was Lacey concerned about her driving skills?

I am working today. It is to be colder today and tomorrow than yesterday. Our high is 7 and our windchill is -20. It is 0 right now. We are to get to the 30's by Sunday. Can't wait. The roads weren't bad this morning. That black ice was everywhere. We are lucky cause we live off the road going to the airport so they always clean it and we are out in the county and we are one of the first ones cleaned as there are so many houses in our subdivision (102). I drove carefully tho.

Yes Mel, I conceded to Dana last night, very graiciously, I might add. I love those longhorns but seems they always need an excuse for something. I did not say that outloud to all you longhorn fans. I'll deny it to the death.

Mel, also, while they were riding the bikes getting wet we were sitting at the pool having margaritas. Let it rain. We won't melt. And we'll go down with a smile.

Oh, Ginny! As cold as I am, hearing you talk about your weather makes me feel less and less sorry for myself. Our windchill factor was six degrees this morning. Our high right now is 25 degrees. I bet you'd give anything to see 25 degrees! I hope it warms up for you, like you said. We've been seeing snow flurries off and on today, but it is supposed to warm up to 32 degrees tomorrow and we may even get to see temps in the fifties next week. I'm looking forward to that.

Oh, margaritas by the pool. I had forgotten about that. You're right, it was so warm that day, the rain felt good. And we've got just enough mean in us that we didn't melt. :goodvibes

over the course of the week I have sat and read through 177 pages of your report!!! I love your story telling style!!

I have a bunch of questions for you for our upcomming trip in July.

I got a little behind. Ok so I did laugh at the water park pics but it looked like you were having so much fun, and I wish I looked as good as you in a bathing suit! Since we only stay for a week we don't make to the waterparks hopefulley one day.
I'm glad to hear you talked you mom into going to Disney. This year my mom is going with us for the first time. It will be just mom, River and I this time I can't wait.
I would have loved to see a pic of Laceys food layout too.
I don't know if you remember or not but I told you befor we left for our trip in Oct. that we were going to CBR to rent paddle boats because of all the pics you posted from there. Well we did it was $6.00 for the 3 of us for 30min. I figure you can't beat that price at Disney. I was alot of fun but those boats are HARD to paddle! It sounds like you had alot of fun riding the bike.
Waiting for more:)
P.S. I hope you didn't have to much work to do!

I haven't seen the wave pool at Blizzard Beach but if it's half as rough as TL, I can understand you getting scraped up. :scared1:

The surrey bike ride was a blast. We knew before we ever arrived that we would be renting the bike because we had so much fun the last time.

Lacey knows how much her Daddy and Hunter like to pick on her and do things to her so I think she was trying to ready herself for any trick they tried to play while going through the wooded area.

Keep yourself bundled up this weekend. It's 27 here now and it's supposed to get down to 19 by midnight. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold too. But, we don't have the super duper cold temps like you guys are having. Oh and we have no snow or rain either.

I thought I saw you guys at the pool bar but I wasn't sure if it was ya'll so we didn't stop.

I have a bunch of questions for you for our upcomming trip in July.

Wow! You had some reading to do! I'm so glad that you decided to introduce yourself. You can see that we've all become quite good friends here on the Dis.

Please feel free to send me a private message with your questions. I'll try my best to answer them.

Hey girl! If I didn't want people to laugh at my water park pictures, I certainly wouldn't have posted them. I knew I was an easy subject/target for laughter.

It took us quite a few years before we made it to the Disney water parks. When we did, we fell in love with them. That being said, we are foregoing the water park this year and are going to relax by the resort pool.

The paddle boats are hard to paddle. But it's still a great way to spend time together.

Sorry I haven't updated before now. The crisis at work wasn't as big a crisis as we initially thought it would be. Both my boss and I thought that I hadn't gotten a billing/transcription tape in about 2 weeks. Actually, I had gotten a tape from him the morning of December 30th. We shut down at Noon on December 30th and didn't come back to work until January 4th. That meant that the batteries died on January 4th. We only lost three days of billing time. Yea!:cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2::banana:

Before I could figure out just how many days we had lost, my boss was going crazy trying to go through his calendar, his computer, the filing, etc. to see what could have been lost. I tried to get him to just calm down until I could finish up the other tape which would tell us exactly how much time we had to make up.

I can understand where he was coming from though. If we couldn't reconstruct two weeks' worth of time, he couldn't bill for it. That would mean thousands and thousands of dollars.

Anyway, we worked late yesterday afternoon and until Noon today and figured out just about everything that needed to be billed for. Another :cheer2:

Hey Lisa, sorry I haven't posted in so long :guilty:. Confession time, I laughed when I saw the pictures of the water park day, but I was not laughing at them, I was laughing with them. As usual, it looks like ya'll were having so much fun. We went to TL on our 2008 trip and poor Dallas tore his knees up in the wave pool. The wave pool and the lazy river were the only two things Dallas, Amanda and I did. Dale and Tyler found some other things to do. It was my first time at the water park and I had NO clue there was so much to do there. Once I found out, it was almost time for the park to close :sad2:.
I would love to rent a surrey bike, but I don't know if Disney has enough Crisco to get Dale on and off of one :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:. Can three people ride them? Or do you have to have an even number?

I can't wait for you to start you PTR for May .

Believe it or not over the last few nights I have read all 178 pages!!!

Loving your report. Your family are lovely and I am really enjoying your adventure.
