Still Sassy after all this time!

Well hi there Wilma. How's the family? I see the boys are still swimming. I have two teenage girls 19 & 14 so I know what you mean about not being for a sissy.
My sister called me today to see if I was depressed because we aren't going to Disney for Mardi Gras. Today would be the day that we would leave. Of course I am, but with Kelsie in college now it just wasn't in the cards for this year. Her family is coming with us next year because always do Disney with them. Anyway, I'm getting the mail for my neighbor across the street who left Thursday and I'm just having a little pity party of my own. Today I went to our local video store and rented a bunch of old Disney movies....The Lion King, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and one other but I can't think of it right now. We had all these movies but lost them in the hurricane. I never did buy them again because the kids are getting older but every now and again they want to watch them. I guess I'll start buying them because one day I'll have grandchildren that will want to see them too.
So I'm throwing my own little Disney party, hanging out on the DIS and reading lots of trip reports until it my turn.

We are having some really bad weather today. They actually cancelled lots of parades and rescheduled them for tomorrow. I always feel sorry for the out of towners who are only here for a short time. Tomorrow should be really nice so hopefully that will make up for it.
Judy we haven't heard from you in a while. How are you and Mr. Judy doing? Cole must be maybe in 10th grade this year??

Tricia - I have had a Disney pity party of my own a time or two, so I know how that goes! We are so lame that we pull out those trip planning videos that WDW sends you and watch them, reviewing information that we already know!:rotfl2:

Today was Pancake and Pajama Day at school, so I wore my pj's to school. Something about wearing pj's (I think) made all of the kids so comfortable that it seemed like they all took the opportunity to poop! I must have changed 8 poopy diapers this morning. No more PJ day for this crowd!

We have the weekend off (no swim meets) and I am actually looking forward to vacuuming and getting laundry done. Lame, yet satisfying all at the same time! Have a good weekend, Sassies!

:lmao: Wilma, you had me at "poop." :rotfl2: My boys are obviously rubbing off on me!

And with that... Helllllooooo Sassies!
:lovestruc
How I miss you all! I love to hear many of you planning trips. I had sort of pushed WDW to the back of my mind, knowing that the new house would preclude any trips in the past 2 years. But... of late, I cannot get get Disney out of my heart or mind, and I WILL make a trip happen this year! If I have to sell myself on the streets of Amsterdam, I will make it happen! (kidding?)

As por moi, I've been busy with school volunteering, home improvement projects (and yes, some have involved spackle), and trying not to murder my almost teenager. I can't believe I once naively thought that parenting got easier when they got older!!!

I know, Sharon! Isnt' that a stitch? I vascillate daily between "should I sympathize with all of these new parents I am surrounded by or burst their bubble and tell them that it really just gets soooo much harder? Oh well, as a wise man once said, "no one ever said it would be easier, they just said it would be worth it". I'm counting on that dude knowing what he was talking about!

Any idea when you would like to go to Disney? We are relegated to the August vacation now that we have entered the high school years, coupled with summer swimming. It's hot, but it's all we've got so we enjoy in anyway. What have you been spackling???

Hi my favorite Sassies!!!!
It has been a FREAKING long time since I talked to you all!!! How have you been?

Bonnie -- how did you lose weight? I have got to get my rump moving, but I am having such a hard time and I feel awful...

I am busy, busy, busy. Not coaching volleyball (officially) anymore, just helping out once in awhile. But I am teaching an extra freshman writing course this semester...they are KILLING me, especially the 3 kids from China that are just learning our crazy language...

DS12 is growing in leaps and bounds and is taller than me and DH!! And he is getting a deep voice...

Oh, I got a new kitchen this winter -- that is KILLING me too! :rotfl: I'll try to post pictures for you sometime. It isn't finished yet as far as my pantry and trim, but it is usable. We were 7 months without being able to cook with more than a microwave in the living room and without a sink!!! Talk about a pain in the @$$... We basically demolished the old and completely rebuilt it from the basement up. My crazy dog wouldn't go in at all until we moved the kitchen table back in there!!!! :confused3

I have to go grade papers.
But I so wanted to check in with you all! I have missed you!

Julie

Mrs. Herbie, kitchen renovation scares the bejebbers out of me. Glad the dog adjusted! My dog has a nervous breakdown whenever we go out through the sliding glass door to use the grill on the deck and will not look at my DH for several hours afterward and we have never figured out why. I can't imagine what he would do if we renovated kitchen!!!

So, is everyone having a Sassy Summer? We are counting down to our Disney trip and cruise - 42 days!:woohoo: Until then it's swim, swim, swim. What's up with the rest of you Sassy ladies?

Happy Monday Sassies!

Good to see you guys are still around.

Congrats on the weight loss Bonnie. I need to get my rear in gear and get moving on losing some weight.

Congrats on the new kitchen Julie. I had to go through that once. I spent 6 months washing dishes in the bathtub and was about to strangle everyone involved. Congrats on keeping your sanity! :rotfl:

Shannon - good luck on those streets in Amsterdam. I have some red boots you can borrow to use there - oh that's right you still have them! ;)

Heather - you will love AKL! It is my favorite resort and your kids will have a blast watching the animals. Try to take the bus over to the Kidani villas and let your kids play in the water play area. You don't have to be a DVC member to swim there and they will have a great time.

Hi Wilma, Becca, Tricia and Judy - long time since I've stopped in to say hi. :wave2:

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!

Dropping in to say hi!popcorn::

Anyone around the DIS these days? I've been on the past few days because... YUP! We're going next month! Oh yeah!

Ryan has a last-minute conference at CSR, and we're tagging along. He said we could tack a couple of extra days on afterward, so we've booked a room at the Yacht Club.

So excited!

Shanaynay!!! How are you, lady?

It's awesome that you are going next month, cause guess who else is going for a couple days next month? :D

When will you be there? We are going Oct 22 thru 26. Two days at Disney parks and one day at IOA to see Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Park days are 23, 24 and 25. We are gonna stay at a non-Disney hotel in Downtown Disney area. I saw it on Mousesavers and it looked like nice rooms for the same price as like the Disney value resorts.

How is everyone else? I miss you hags!

Hi Sassy Hags!

Woohoo Shannon and Bonnie! We were at Disney and Universal for 2 weeks in August. WWoHP was awesome, although crazy crowded even when the rest of IoA wasn't. It was so worth going even with the crowds, Forbidden Journey was fabulous! When we go back we are going to stay at Universal just for the express pass.

BEX!!! Nice to see you, lady! :goodvibes

WWOHP is the thing I am looking forward to the most. Any major tips for that place or can't-miss things to see? I will ride Forbidden Jouney for sure. I don't know anything about WWOHP though.

Haven't seen you in awhile, so I thought I would drop by & say hello. :)

Shannon, Bonnie and Becca.........:woohoo:it's a party now. How is everyone? Becca how was two weeks at Disney? I think seven days is the longest I've ever been for.

Shannon enjoy your trip. I bet October is a wonderful month to be there. Hopefully the weather will be pleasant.

Bonnie I'd like to see Harry Potter World too. I still haven't read any of the books but I've seen the movies over and over again.

You need to take the castle tour after riding FJ, I was able to take my time then the ride workers were shooing us through the line so quickly I missed a lot when I rode it the first time. Travel light, you have to put loose articles in a locker and that takes lots of time at FJ. I didn't care for Dragon Challenge, it was jerky and gave me a headache. I'm glad I did it though. Hogwarts is incredible, pictures just don't do it justice imo. Loved the whole area though and felt like I was walking into the books.

You are going to have sooooo much fun!!

What else is new??

It was awesome Tricia. We went to Universal, the beach and we did an airboat ride to look for gators. It was relaxing! What's new with you?

Hi Friends! Nice to see you! I really miss you ladies. Tricia, it seems like forever ago that I met you at MGM! And Angus and Bex, Chicago was forever ago too! And Shanaynay, it's been a year since I saw you! Holy cow! We gotta get together! And Wilma, you live here too! How are you?

So for those who have been to WWOHP, did you go to Three Broomsticks? And do you need a reservation to get in? What's it like? We'll be there on a Tuesday. Do you think that's the place to eat, or should I choose someplace else?

The Tag Fairy visited me!!! I am honored! I have missed you, Tag Fairy!

Good tips, thank you!

We didn't get any of the dining reservations we wanted, and had to make alternate plans. I did get into the T-Rex cafe the day we arrive though, and the girls are excited about that. We also go Ainslee in to BBB and she is looking forward to that. I got us tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, which I've never done, so I hope that's fun!

New with me, just working teaching Kindergarten at a private school...preschool through third grade. It's the same company I worked for before, just a different location, and it has elementary grades. I am seeing someone...he's going to WDW with us! It's his first trip.

I am so excited for WWOHP. I need to do a lot of research. I don't know much about it. I remember people being worried about fitting into the seats on FJ, so I am kinda freaking about that.

Well hello everyone!

So good to "see" you here! I've definitely been on here more now that we're planning a trip!

We're going Oct 16th-22nd. We will JUST miss you Bon-Bon!m I hope you guys have a blast!

Staying at CSR (FREE b/c of Ryan's convention) the 16th-19th and then the Yacht Club the 19th-22nd. I am beyond thrilled!

We want to do Universal/IOA, but not for another year or so. Riley isn't into Harry Potter yet, and I really would like him to be tall enough to go on everything.

Bex, a two week trip sounds amazing! Maybe one day... I am in the middle of starting my own business. Who knows? If it takes off, then I may be able to foot my own Disney bill!!

You all know how much I love painting, refinishing furniture etc... Well, it only makes sense to do what I love/know. I've only "started" doing it professionally for a month now, and am already booked through November!
Crazy.:scared1:

Looking into business names, websites, tax info etc... Wish me luck!

Hi Sassies!! Long time no post! I miss you!

I'm glad to see some of you are going to WDW soon. We are going 12/10-12/17. I just love going and seeing all the Christmas decorations! We're also going to the DISapalooza at WWoHP! I'm so excited. We went to WWoHP last year when we went, but like Bex said it was very crowded so it'll be nice to have the park to ourselves (and 700 DIS friends). :teeth:

Bonnie, we ate at Three Broomsticks last year with no reservation. We went right after they opened for lunch, though. We had the fish & chips and it was really good.

Bex, I'm with ya on Dragon Challenge. We did it before they renamed it and it was pretty intense. I didn't do it again last year.

Shannon, how exciting to be starting your own business. It looks like you are already successful! Hope you are enjoying WDW!!

Wilma, how's it going? How's Wally? We had to put our male down at the beginning of July. :sad1: It's always so shocking how fast these things happen - within a week he couldn't lift his back end and lost bowel control, so we knew it was time. It's so hard, though! This is the first time we've only had one dog in 9 years!

Hi Squiddy, Tricia, Heather & Julie! Come back & post!

Hello everyone....I really hate it that we dont post everyday like we used to. I miss the old days.

Awww...Im so sorry to hear about your dog Angie..I know how hard that is to lose one.

We had to cancel this years trip due to financial difficulties...again....grrrrrrr.

Hopefully everything will be better next year. I've been really sick this year anyway so maybe its all for the best. Joey has been diagnosed with ADHD:confused: not quite sure how i feel about that, but maybe we will be able to improve his ability to do well in school. He is always in trouble for talking and not staying focused. Its been really hard. We have been talking to the doctor about it for a couple years now but I put off having him officially diagnosed. I was hoping he would outgrow it....I just blamed it on his being immature.

Anyone taken a trip lately and feel like posting pics so I can live vicariously through you>?

Im planning another trip for next year...not sure I will get to go but at least planning is half the fun..yes?

Hugs everyone :grouphug: hope to see some more posting happening soon;)

Popping in to wish all the Sassies a very merry Christmas! Hope it is fantastic! :flower3:

How are you hags doing? I am doing okay. Relationship is kinda rocky these days, but the girls and I are all healthy and ready for Christmas. Today is my last day of school before Winter Break and I am thrilled about that, of course!

Have a wonderful holiday season!
