Wilma, what kind of law does your DH practice? Does he by chance know about family law? I have some questions and do not know where to begin! I can't afford an attorney and legal aid does not help with uncontested divorces.

Thanks, Tricia! It is hard, but the hardest part is when we start living seperately, which we are not yet doing. For right now, he's in the basement and I'm in the bedroom!

Squid is so lucky, IN has a much quicker divorce process. In VA, you have to live seperately for a year before you can even file for divorce!

Hey, I'm OK. I am glad I am thru my worst "grief" months (Dec-Feb) and the sun is out more now. Work has me busy. And 55 days until our Disney trip. So I'm good.

I'll bet your situation is difficult on your kids too. I imagine it is a double-whammy on you for yourself and then trying to help your kids too. Hang in there! You've got friends!

Oh Bonnie, I am so sorry!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, DH does general litigation but no family law - in fact, no one in his firm does domestic relations. He did say that he would be happy to make a call for you and get the names of some solid divorce lawyers in No. Va.

The problem is that you really don't want a cheap lawyer when it comes to divorce. I know that's difficult to hear, but you don't want a lawyer to screw up your divorce because then it's REALLY hard to untangle. And, although there are legal services that advertise as inexpensive, they are generally for the divorce without kids. Once you add kids into the mix, it always becomes more expensive.

Would you like Mr. FofP to get some names for you? I'm sorry you are going through this and want you to know that we are all standing behind you! Hang in there, sisterfriend!

Thanks, Wilma! That's nice of your DH to offer, but please tell him that's ok, cause I can't afford an attorney. Wish I could, it would make things so much easier. We went out for coffee last night and had a settlement talk. I'm gonna get one of those downloadable form things that Judi recommended, and hopefully he and I can start filling it out this weekend.

We will be living as roommates for a couple more months, till our lease is up. We can't afford to live seperately, but we are gonna have to. Nope, he hasn't found a job yet. It really sucks!

Tricia, I don't like spring thunderstorms either. I'm not afraid of thunderstorms any other time of year, but we get so many tornado watches during the spring and I really don't like tornadoes! I've sat in a basement during one when I was about 6 and under a pool table when I was in college.

Again, sorry to have been MIA. I have the ball rolling on the home improvements needed to get the house on the market. No work (by contractors) has been started yet, but all of the estimates are in, and most of it has been scheduled. Gonna be a nutso couple of weeks! Don't you love it when you have a contractor in for one thing, only to have them point out 30 other things that are wrong with your house? Apparently we've had a slowly leaking toilet upstairs for who knows how long...

I may have to take a moment today for the raisin/soda experiment. I for one have not heard of this phenomenon, so thanks Angus! Riley will think it's great.

Hey Toot! I hope you can "kick the snot" out of the Bronchitis, so to speak. Yep, now 54 days! Yes, I have a few ADRs: Crystal Palace (my son's request for our first breakfast there), the Plaza, Whispering Canyon (another of my son's favs), Sci-Fi, and Chefs de France. The rest shall be at whim, I think.
