I don't mind

Unless I dreamed it I also remember reading that he is a fan of the Harry Potter books (which I also love!).
John Saul's book are too much the same IMO. I do read him from time to time though.
Good horror writers include Richard Matheson, Clive Barker (if you like really WEIRD stuff), Ramsey Campbell, Dennis Ethison and Peter Straub. I do love a good horror novel.![]()
My two favorites are probably The Shining and Salem's Lot. I've read alot of his books but most were his earlier stuff.
The only problem I have with Stephen King, is it seems to take forever for his books to get going. I feel the first 200 hundred pages or so are painfully boring in some of his books. Once the story gets going, they are great though.
That's funny, because a line from Hearts in Atlantis sticks with me whenever I start a new book, SK or otherwise. I can't remember the characters names off hand, but the old man has given the boy a copy of Lord of the Flies and says something to the effect of "Give it 50 pages. If a book isn't giving more than it's taking by 50 pages, it's time to put it down".
"The Dead Zone" is my all time favorite by him. Then "Salem's Lot", "The Shining", "Cell", and "Bag of Bones". But I can't comment on the others because I haven't read all of his books. I have just about half of them, I just haven't read them. I think I'm going to start "Hearts in Atlantis" soon.
Hearts in Atlantis is an excellent read. I loved that book.
Have you all seen 1408? That movie scared me silly. I am a die hard horror film fan and it has been a long time since I actually JUMPED while watching a movie. It was based on a King short story.
Blaze actually is already out. I got it a couple of months ago, but haven't read it yet. I'm currently working on Lisey's Story. Supposedly(according to the book jacket), "Richard Bachman" wrote Blaze in 1973 and SK "found" it amonst his stuff 2006.![]()
In that King writing book, (On Writing) he discussed his writing processes for the short story 1408. He shows how he radically revises the first content to publication.
