I think the Dark Tower series is a masterpiece. The 1st book, the Gunslinger, was a little hard for me to get into at first but I kept plugging on and I'm sure I did! The Talisman co-written with Peter Straub would be my favorite single book, although there was a sequel to that called Black House, but I can't remember if King was a co-author on that one or not or if it was just Straub.
You might want to buy his re-release of The Gunslinger. It's a bit easier to read, and also he's tossed in some stuff that wasn't in the origional that helps develop Roland earlier on.
Lisey's Story doesnt make much sense until pretty far along, then everything clicks into place. I'd have to say it's one of his weirdest books, but it's good.
