We currently have a reservation for 10/28 for dinner at Le Cellier. This is DHs favorite restaurant. However, I hate to use up 2 dinner credits. Is there a steak just as good as Le Cellier?

Try the Captain's Grille at the YBC resort. Great food and steak. Went there last year and loved it so much made a 2nd ADR as soon as I got back to the resort. This is our choice again this year since Le Cellier went to 2 credits.

I have to tell you; my inlaws have a winter home very close to WDW. They returned home, and just last week, my FIL remarked about how pleasantly surprised they were with their dinner at LeCellier. They love WDW very much; but have never been particulary, overly impressed with any of the table service restaurants on the property (except V & A). He has travelled extensively, and has had the opportunity to experience the best of restaurants all over the world (the real world).

He and MIL normally frequent "Charley's Steak House" on rt. 192 in Kissimmee. They enjoy that establishment, but indicated that LC was great. Just thought I'd pass that along.

What about switching to lunch? They have the same filet at lunch time and it is sooo good.

The Prime Rib at Turf Club at Saratoga Springs Resort was awesome. Cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. Considering WDW restaurants, the best steaks I have had were from Jiko, Le Cellier, Brown Derby, and Turf Club. The 1st three are (now) all signature dining.

From what members of my party have told me (as I'm not a big steak eater) Captain's Grille and Grand Floridian Cafe (NY Strip) have good ones. I scored a last minute Le Cellier lunch about 45 days out so keep trying!! Good luck :goodvibes

{In our Opinion}
1) Ouch.
2) Charley's on 192 is rapidly falling off.
. . . yes, the atmosphere is quite nice and very soothing
. . . but, they had to comp us TWICE for bad dinners
. . . once, they paid for the meal (except alcohol)
. . . we went on a "give us a second chance" trip
. . . they ended up giving us $150 in vouchers after the meal
. . . due to other guest complaints, we have stopped recommending them
3) Charley's is part of a group of eateries called "Talk of the Town".
. . . there are several eateries under that banner
. . . the best, (and only one we now patronize) is Vito's Chop House
. . . we highly recommend this for the pork chops and steaks

Personally, I think the food at LC is so overrated and never got the hype. There are plenty of other places I would rather have a steak at for one credit. Kona, Wave, or even Coral Reef come to mind. If you want to liven it up a bit- we love the meats at Bongos (but not sure if they take dining plan)

We loved the strip steak at grand floridian cafe!

I couldnt agree with you more. Its so over rated, i dont get it either. I tried le cellier once and have no intention of trying it again. I was not impressed with the steak. And as for their "famous" soup, i've had much better at my local sandwich shop. Maybe im spoiled in toronto? I dunno. But either way, i tried it once...never again. And i dont care if they have a new fancy menu. Believe it or not, I had the best steak at Teppan Edo!! The yummiest and tastiest filet ever!!!!! Surprise right? :lmao:

Try the Captain's Grille at the YBC resort. Great food and steak.

I second this recommendation for a great steak at a 1 TS restaurant. Plenty of great steaks at the 2 TS restaurants and places not on the dining plan (Shula's), but that does not seem to be what the OP wants.

Oh Gee Wiz, I'm so sorry to hear this. The last time we were there was June '10 and it was wonderful. They go way more frequently than we do and they like it better when a certain manager is on duty. We all love Vito's too, but charley's is more convenient to their home. DH's uncle just took his whole family there (Charley's) 2 weeks ago, and they came home raving about it. Charley's got it's reputation catering to retiree locals and the upscale golf crowd. I hope they're not turning too "touristy".
Our family also likes Shulas (there's one in Balto, we're 70 miles away) inside the Dolphin. I like it because is more adult oriented. It's been 3 years since we've been there, so I'm not sure I can really recommend it. Thanks for the info, I'm going to pass this along to the family.

Having had the filet at lunch and dinner, I will say that at dinner it is better. maybe because there was a different chef, I dunno. :confused3

Shula's reportedly has a good steak, although it's a chain (small, but still a chain). it's also not on the DDP.

Yatchsman Steakhouse is reported good as well, but that's also two credits.

So I guess I wasn't really any help.

I think the Turf Club at SSR has one of the best steaks on property at 1 TS, or the Brown Derby which is 2 TS.
