HI ALL,

DH said he thinks the beach themed Lilo and Stich door picture that I showed him from this thread was too much too. He agreed with the other poster, about that taking away from the clean look of the ship and he said he wished people wouldn't go over board with that kind of thing. I think he maybe right, I can see this getting out of hand with people trying to out do the next person. And, I can see that also putting DCL in a bad postion of where do you say enough is enough? You know what they say, one bad apple can spoil it for the rest of the bunch. I personally like the door signs, when they are used in moderation. I hope that DCL will let everyone continue the tradition.

PS
DH also thought putting names and faces on the door may not be a such a good idea with a small child, so for the three doors signs I made for our family Christmas cruise I just used the family's last name and put the sail date and stateroom numbers. And, of course decorated the signs themselves with holiday stuff. ;)

Yes, some of the doors I've seen pics for are way too crammed. I did two signs and I hope I will be able to put them up. I am celebrating my DD's 4th birthday so I included her pic. You think thats' a bad idea?

I just told my neighbor, who is booking her first Disney Cruise, all about the door signs. I loved walking by all the doors. It made me feel everyone was just as excited and more likely a DISer like me :disrocks:

We just returned, and saw many, many door signs. And not just magnets, but streamers, message boards, and other 3-D decorations. The signs were a great help in finding our room, too.

Just another couple thoughts for all you to ponder...............

I have seen some of those decorated doors where the stuff is out into the hallway, and also have seen a few people who have wheelchairs or crutches try to avoid entanglement.
Those doors are also in the hallways used for EMERGENCIES. I know the chances of a fire are very remote but consider your small child trying to crawl down a smoke filled hallway and getting tangled up in somones garland or beachtowel decorations. Even a few moment delay can have fatal results.
A few magnetic signs or small decorations up high on the door are one thing, but I dont think it should be overdone.

Squid - you make a very valid point. There is a definate line between someone having some door decorations for fun and someone overdoing it. Sometimes less is more!

:wave2: Hello, we just returned from the same cruise. :earseek: We had 2 or 3 signs on our door all the time, :wizard: and we noticed other signs as well, ours had magnets and our host Calvin even commented on them, so maybe your host was confused :confused3 ...

Just got back off the Wonder today..you know I didn't see many door decorations at all. I had a look on decks 8, 7 and 6. I saw maybe 2 doors!!! Come on Disers, you can do better than that!!!!

I was on the 11/5 cruise and I had my door decorated and my stateroom host Nilo never said a word. I saw several doors decorated, nobody said a word.

Our door was covered from top to bottom (my dd went to town and I didn't stop her) Nothing was ever removed. Problem was we were toward the front of the ship and not many people walked by our door. Oh well...it made the kids happy and able to find our room 1-2-3!!

Could someone tell me about these door signs. This sounds like such a fun project for my dd to work on. Could you guys who have already done the door signs tell me examples of what you did for the signs and how you attached the magnets, etc. Does anyone have pics of signs? This sounds like a lot of fun. TIA! :cheer2:

If you click on this link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=838817 this should answer a lot of your questions.

I put some little signs I made on our door 6503 - on the Wonder 11/13-17th. Pat our stateroom host commented that he liked my decorations, but that was it. I only saw one other door with some garland and some rooms with a little magnet saying a family reunion. That was pretty much it! I was bummed. I was hoping for more.

We had 3 signs on our door during the 10/22 cruise as well as a notepad for our large group to keep each other up to date on. One of our signs counted down the games left until the White Sox won the World Series!! Our stateroom host even posted our countdown on our notepad on occasion! He too was rooting for the Sox!

I guess now that door signs are alive and well, I will have to get my creative juices flowing. :flower:

WE HAD OUR SIGN UP LAST WEEK. IT WAS GREAT FOR MY DD TO FIND THE ROOM & EVEN MYSELF. WE HAD GREAT FUN WITH IT.

NOW IT'S AWAY TILL NEXT YEAR!!!! :sunny:

I agree, it did help me and the kids find our room easier. Although what I really needed was a sign when I came out of the elevator saying which way my room was! I always turned to wrong way (for the entire week).
