Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Bet $20? :rotfl:

Saw your post at Universal forum. You had bet Mesaboy2 $20 over my Superman vs. Spiderman question and lost. Think you still owe him those Minion cupcakes I saw you posted. If I win, I'd take a Darth Vader cupcake instead. ;)

I'm hoping it would cover one of those AP coins Hollywoodhaha mentioned.

Walked in at 7:16 got Ashley and kane. No one in line. Rides rnrc and tot didn't open till 8:00. Mickey not put till 10:00 minnie leia 9:30 no one wanting to wait yet in line. Chewbacca line already long cause in shade. Right now in star tours.

Hi all,

We have decided to take a very last minute trip, checking in on the 8th of June. I am a super planner and feel completely out of my element. Having never done SWW, I am completely lost. My boys, DH, DS..12, DS..11, DS..9, are so excited!

I was wondering if anyone can give me the link to the map of the park. I have so much research to do!!

Thanks so much!

Here's the link to weekend 2...the only thin g different will be that the Ray Park show "Visit to the Maul" won't be happening during the last 2 weekends.

Pics posted. :)

You'll find the Darth Vader magic shot location right across the fast pass machines for RnRC at the entrance to the Darth Mall on the right. The photopass photographer needs a background that doesn't have people so he'll keep an area of the back wall cleared away.

Photopass photographers that can take the "magic" shot are the ones by the Premiere Theater, Backlot Tour and like karpg said, Darth Mall. You'll see a card with the magic shot hanging from their belt.
My DD11 took it at backlot.

You line up to the right of the turnstiles, there's a line for each celeb. Around 6:30am they start puting wristband and then around 7:15am they give fp's. one fp per person for 1 autograph. So you have to line up for the celeb you want to get a wristband and fp for 1 autograph. You cannot get more than one. If you have family with you you could get on one line and then your family can get in another. I thin 4am is way early...I think you should be fine arriving by 6am. Let me know if this is clear enough.

Yes thank you. May I ask how you got to the park so early? Just drive? Also, what time does Darth's Mall open?
Getting pumped!:cool1:

5 more sleeps until we start our 12 hour drive south to Edmonton, Alberta. We are spending the weekend there stocking up on summer clothes and having:rotfl2: a good rest. We fly out on June 5th - about 7 hours to Orlando. My DD (turning 20) thinks we are going to Vegas, but I am surprising her with this instead. We both love Star Wars.:worship: I am so excited!!! I am a little nervous about the heat, because we are Northern Canada girls. So, I am going to bring umbrellas, ensure we stay hydrated, sunscreen, hats...any other tips?

Looking forward to June 8, 9 and 10th at SWW!!!:woohoo:

What time do the buses leave for HS? We will be staying at the fort and wanted to arrive early at the park.

Thanks!

Yeah, we are locals so we just drive to the parks, in the early hours there are no parking attendants so you just drive in and park...you get to park very close to the entrance and you don't have to pay the $14 for parking (is that what it is? we don't pay since I'm an AP and my DH works there) :cool1: . Darth Mall opens and closes the same as park hours.

Thanks for the carbon freeze pics. Just had to laugh at myself - my (advanced) age and (total) lack of tech expertise shows when I say that it never dawned on me they could do this digitally - I thought they were going to smoosh you into some kind of foamy, gelatinous substance! lol

Thanks for the heads up on the magic shots- will give us more options for finding those photogs.

Questions: someone stated that Darth Vader M&G was starting earlier than others - any confirmation?
Is Premier Theater enclosed and air conditioned? I remember it being open-air when Hunchback was there.
Is Darth Mall opening before 9 and, if so, are Luke/Leia/CP3O there as soon as it opens? Where in the Mall would I find them?

TIA! and, NWT - I never go to a park without a little hand held fan/sprayer and extra batteries - life saver!

One more question if anyone knows - are there any SW type face painting options more for girls? DGrD saw the Darth Maul one and wants it - but I know what a mess she makes of the face paintings in the heat. Anything less drastic?

1.- I talked to CMs that work the Vader line yesterday and they told me that since Vader is so popular they opened the line earlier than 9am...I didn't see it with my own eyes.
Premiere Theater is A/C and very nice
Darth Maul opens as soon as the park opens but the characters start coming out around 9:30am. They are toward the back of the Mall, as you enter stay on your right hand side and you'll see the line.

My kids never were into face painting but I saw plenty of Darth Mauls also I saw a girl with Yoda painted on one side of her face and one girl with Amidala's face painting, not sure if these were done in the park or at home/hotel. sorry I can't be of more help.

When you walk into the tent, you just go straight, there's a line right there. It's much easier to find than the pins we get walking around and not being able to find until a security guard walked us there (and at the same time, they started playing Darth Vader's music, so I felt like we were being marched somewhere bad, lol!)

I was told they started at 9:30, so I took my time walking over there, and there was a long line already at 9:20. They told me they had come out around 9:10. But it's not a huge deal, it's inside and cool, so the nicest line I was in all weekend, lol.

I'm a scrapbooker, and always behind, but I've already completed my first layout from SWW, lol

I saw a Queen Amidalla option this morning. It's her queen face so there is still paint all over. You could probably ask to leave off all the white and just do the rest. The crown is painted on te forhead so it should look pretty cool on it on with a bit of red on the lips.

Hi everyone! I am leaving on Friday morning for WDW. We will be at sww on Friday June 8th. I've never been to sww. I'm going to try to be there close to 7:00am. I would like to see the storm troopers show. I will be with ds8 he doesn't know who the actors are so we just want characters. I will head straight to JTA. What should I do then? Should we get right in line for Chewbacca? He really wants to meet Maul and Anakin,Luke R2D2 C3po everyone really but those are his faves. What order should I try to get them? I think we will just watch hoopla at Idol so maybe I should try to get a lot of characters around 5:30-6:30? Also what shows should we try to see again he is more interested in characters but anything that would be cool for an 8yr old boy?

Thank you for any help you can give me

Thank you all for an awesome job, once again, with your TR's!!! Those first weekers always blaze the trail for those of us who go during later weeks.

I will be posting while standing in line for autographs next friday. See everyone then!!!

I love your scrapbook page! The cupcake looks delish and I can't wait to get one next weekend!

Thanks!

Every time I've stayed at a resort the buses start leaving at 6:30 am to the parks( for dining reservations, etc).

Also this is probably a really obvious tip but wear a watch if you are going to be trying to time characters and shows. Last year I didn't bring one and just had to keep checking my cell phone for the times, what a pain in the tush! Digging it out of my backpack and wasting the battery on my phone. I bought a $6.99 digital Minnie watch at Target today for the trip, will make it so much easier! Also bring a washcloth(in a baggie) so you can put cool water on it and put it on your neck or forehead. I almost fainted last year waiting for Kit Fisto, b/c every time I got to the front of the line they told me - another 10 minutes, well I ending up waiting in that no shade line, going through it 7 times for that picture(everytime I got to the front I had to go to the back again, since you can't just wait for the character you want to come out), it was literally close to 2 hours, but we are big Star Wars fans so I did that while DH took DS to meet other characters then when Kit finally came out they had just made me get to the back of the line again(7th time) and the cast members then had me come to the front since they new how many times I had to rotate through already (there was a costume problem). HYDRATE!!! I felt sick the rest of the day from not being properly hydrated.
