I'm hoping that Disney/Lucasfilm keeps publishing the books. It's been little since Disney bought it. I would love more books on Poe and Finn. I really enjoyed Resistance Reborn. And reading them added so much more in going to Galaxy Edge.

have to agree on the novels. That’s what kept me going as a SW fan through the 90s. The EU novels were amazing. And hopefully this next batch can be as good as they were.

Haven't seen the movie yet. I need to prepare for it. I think that I am only person who really likes Poe.

Partly because of Oscar Issac. And Partly because apparently cocky flyboys are my type:bitelip::bitelip:

Then you'll love this movie. At least the parts he's in. :) After a second viewing, I can without hesitiation say i love this movie. I left feeling elated and happy for where Star Wars is. Kudos to JJ Abrams for pulling it off!

Poe is also my favorite of the 'new three'. In the books leading up to TFA, they detailed that his father served under Han Solo and Poe's mother was one of the Rebel's best pilots and flew with both Luke and Leia. They also fleshed out some of his backstory in the Dameron comic series. I could see some films or Disney+ stuff focusing on him

I thought Finn was going to tell Rey he was force sensitive (not that he's in love with her) because he could clearly sense which Star Destroyer she was on....they just never re-visited it.

This has been confirmed by JJ as the intent. It was not "I love you" though that doesn't mean he doesn't - it's just not what he was going to say. By the end of the movie I think it was unspoken but understood.

Well, I think he was trying to be playful and funny, but it came off kind of wrong. John is actually the biggest Star Wars fan in the bunch if you watch some of the group interviews. I'm not sure you can take that as indicative of future career choices.
I loved that he was very vocal regarding the Star Wars Battlefront games. I feel like having someone who is literally part of the film franchise criticize the game and put pressure on DICE (the game developer) to improve it.

Good game, too!!!

for me he was the weakest of the new trio. I could have done without his entire story arc (if you can even call it an arc). Complete lower-tier supporting character.

This is why The DIS is one of the only forums or social media of any type that I use. It seems to attract a more civilized crowd for the most part.
It’s honestly a solid group with good conversation, but it’s just super inconsiderate that people can’t stick it to a spoiler specific thread. The same thing happens with each weeks mandalorian, and it’s obnoxious (though thankfully I watch those the same day so it’s not an issue on my end)

I was watching a spoiler review regarding and they brought up an issue that I don't think is really an issue.

The reviewer complained about Leia's death and how she simply died by reaching out and saying "Ben". But two things:

1. TLJ established that reaching out with the force across vast distances CAN drain your life force IF you do not have the power to sustain it. We don't know how much power Leia really has and it's possible her ability was REALLY limited.

2. I don't think Leia simply said "Ben". I think her final act was to influence Ben's mind to pull out a memory. A memory that causes him to pause. And I think Han Solo's appearance is a direct result of Leia's final act to influence him. He was definitely not a ghost as established by the movies and the movie outright states he's a memory. I put forth that this memory was the after effect of Leia's influence and one that truly helped Kylo return to his identity as Ben Solo.

That act still required a tremendous amount of power relative to Leia's own ability (who clearly had let it atrophy over the years) and so something as "simple" as what she did could indeed have killed her. But her last act saved her son.

I agree. I don't think Leia was quite as strong with the force or at least she lacked the training, or maybe even faith in it. It seems she gave up on her lightsaber pretty quickly too - I just don't think it's her style, you know? Still, she picked up on a few things, and doing that was probably enough for her, as she appeared to be in a frail state anyway. I think it works just fine and was a fitting end for the character.

You know, reading a lot of where people are pointing out "plot holes" and stuff, I have one answer for them, to paraphrase Lucy Lawless:

"Whenever you notice anything like that, Palpatine did it."

This what I'm thinking with Last Jedi after seeing TRoS. Maybe
Palpatine/Snoke influenced Luke's visions and used his past trauma to manipulate his actions.

This resolves the issues people took with TLJ's version of Luke. I personally was fine with it because people change in 30 years so maybe of course Luke wasn't this eternally optimistic kid anymore. But you know, here's a fix right here.
