We are going to HS on April 3rd, Good Friday. What are our chances of signing DS, 6, up for the Jedi Training. I made breakfast reservations at Hollywood & Vine at 8:15, at the time I thought the park didn't open til 9am, but now I see it is opening at 8am. I want to be there at the entrance about 7:45 am. I have no experience with this at all, so I don't know how fast it fills up, should I prepare DS that he probably won't be able to do it, but we will still try?

I would do RD and go straight to line for Jedi training. Old school me would be have walk running too. lol Eating at Hollywood & vine wouldn't be as important Or move the times to later like lunch time. I would also be honest with my child about so many people want to do it and we will try our hardest.

Good luck.

If it opens at 8, and it is Easter week you need to be there by 7:30 if not earlier. DHS is notorious for opening 15 or so minutes early. Go straight to the sign ups with your son and then check in for breakfast. That is a very busy week.

I would also recommend getting there earlier than 7:45 for an 8 am opening during that busy a weekend

You should try to get to the park by 7:15 so you are closer to the entrance. DHS may open even earlier than 7:45 if it's already a good-sized crowd at the entrance.

Send one adult with the Jedi hopeful to sign-ups and the rest of the group can go check-in for breakfast. You won't be seated until your complete group is there but at least H&V will know you are present.

I would definitely think about moving to a lunch ADR or at least a later breakfast, and focus on getting to JTA sign ups very ASAP!! I would get to DHS at least by 7:30 and make a quick beeline for sign ups! We did not run last June, just kept a brisk pace and we were pretty far back in line and stood there for a good 20-30 minutes.

Thanks for the help.

I made the breakfast reservations thinking the park opened at nine, that way we could get in an hour early.

I think we will try to get there about 7:30 and hope for the best.

Great question and very helpful to me (heading there in June). Where do you go to sign up for Jedi training?

We went in November, we had a ADR for Hollywood & Vine @ 8.. The park opened at 9.
As soon as we were done eating exactly at 9am we walked very quickly over there (not a far walk at all) we were able to get in line just as the line reached outside the door, we waited about 20-25 minutes to sign up... As soon as we were done at 9:25ish we heard the CM say they were closing the line for the day, it was wrapped around the building at that point.

I haven't been, but Touringplans says to go to the sign up area at ABC Sound Studio (across from Start Tours). Also, that on certain days, the sign up location may be outside the turnstiles before the park opens. And that if you are there early to ask a Cast Member where to sign up.

I was just going to post that I remembered reading recently that they started having the sign up outside before the park opened.

So, that's not an everyday thing? An inconsistent procedure makes it irritating to plan.

I think either way we'll be there at about 7:30am for an 8am open. I'll probably have DH stay with the kids while I try to find a CM to ask.

Maybe chatting up with Cast Members when you are waiting outside for rd would be helpful.

Disney changes thing all the time, to see what works better.

Definitely be there earlier than 7:45. Probably at least 7:15. We tried to do rope drop last trip just to get on TSM with a decent wait but the crowd that was there 15 minutes before rope drop was already huge. And it wasn't a high crowd level day or Easter weekend or anything.

I certainly understand making changes to improve efficiency.

But it seems they could still have some consistency. Ex. Test having sign ups outside the gates for a few weeks rather than randomly moving it from place to place each day.

I fully acknowledge that would prefer to know where the sign up will be located on a given day for my own selfish reasons. I feel if it's outside we would need to arrive much earlier than if it's inside. Purely speculation, but I think more people would sign up more quickly if it's outside. We never stay at HS for more than a few hours so I would want/need to get one of the morning time slots. (This is all hypothetical because I don't think we will have the opportunity to do Jedi Training this trip anyway.)

I think they do it to be mean. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

"Hmm... Tzolkin is basing her plans on getting her kids signed up inside for the first show while everyone else is running for TSMM. Let's put a cart outside and get everyone else signed up before she gets here for rope drop." Mwahaha ;)
