Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Attractions Planning

Just wanting some input for this itinerary on a 10 day for GE (President's Day). Buying Genie+ and trying for Rise LL:

Walk to be at gate by 7:20
  1. 7:00 Get slinky Genie+
  2. 7:02 Get LL Rise
  3. Make lunch order in line
  4. 7:30 -8:40 If I got both 1 and 2, then rope drop ToT and RnR, otherwise rope drop Rise
  5. In Slinky queue, get Genie+ for Smuggler's run
  6. 8:50 If I did Rise first, do ToT and RnR now
  7. 9:15 M&MRR
  8. Toy Story Mania on Genie+
  9. Rest of day
It's not a priority to ride some things twice, but If I get RoTR and Slinky, and I have Genie+ for anything else, I really don't HAVE to rope drop anything but M&MRR, but I wondered about proceeding as if I had none of that. Then I could rope drop Rise, run over and do ToT and RnR. Then if I have the option of using Genie+ to do ToT and RnR later and have the LL to do Rise again. Or, if I get all that, I could just go right to ToT and RnR, then do M&MRR, then do Slinky if that is the time for my Genie+

I wish you the best of luck with that. I know it was tough to get Rise LL and they tend to go immediately. Some people have luck a few minutes after (I guess when people time out).

Make sure your payment info is ready (as that takes time) and you have your login info ready to enter again as I found the first time each morning it would ask me when I went to purchase something.

I'm assuming the credit card information that is inside my Disney App takes care of not having to enter credit card info and login is saved on the phone and automatic.

Good luck is all I can say. I think you should be prepared that your first Genie+ reservation may not be until the afternoon, and that by the time you can book another one two hours after park open, MFSR will be sold out, and other rides will likewise only be available in the afternoon/evening. On previous holiday weekends, that was the experience a lot of people were having, unfortunately--i.e. Genie+ is good for a bout 2-3 rides max when the park is at a 10. It works a lot better on less crowded days.

I had to select the payment option. I don't remember if it made me enter the card number but it does make you select something so watch what you are doing.

The password issue is annoying as well since I'm already logged into MDE, why do I need a new login? Just be mindful.

Things go fast so any delay can mean hours in when you get something.

Is it like that each time, once per day, or just the first time during your trip?

It was at least the first time for the trip but it may have been each day. It does, however, only ask once. I never had to again when I went to buy another LL$ that same day. It does keep asking for payment option but will use a saved payment. I wish it wouldn't ask again either but it does.

Can anyone tell me if these rides are jerky or smooth? We go next week and I don’t know much about either one of them. For reference, Star tours is jerky to me and flight of passage and mine train are very smooth. Thanks!

Flacon can be jerky (how jerky depends on the other people in your cabin as it’s semi self controlled based on how well you fly). Rise is fairly smooth but does has some parts with motion simulation.

For those that have ridden both.....how doable is it with a wheelchair? How far can you go with one? I have one child that can walk but rides most of the time do to some muscle control issues. I watched some videos of the rides and RoTR seems to be the one he can probably tolerate the ride best but not sure if we can get him on it. Thanks

For falcon if you need time to transfer and/or can’t walk more then 10/15 steps they have a specific cabin that’s not on the ride turntable that they will send you to. For rise they can’t bring the wheelchair up to the seat and I believe that there is a transfer door so they can pop it open for you to transfer over.

Is there any updates information I should consider for Galaxy’s Edge tomorrow? We have Genie Plus (pre-bought it when it was still offered), and I definitely plan to buy LL for Rise. Anything I need to know? Rise is a must ride for us, we‘ve not gone yet - Anything I need to know or plan on to make sure it happens? Thanks!

Not much really has changed other than how they handle queues. If you're buying the LL+ for Rise, then use G+ for Toy Story rides or the Falcon. Just new stuff in the shops, you still have to book ahead for Oga's, Droid Depot and the Light Sabers if you intend to do those.

Attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Planning and Information

This attraction is a huge trackless dark ride with screen and audio animatronic technology featuring several Star Wars characters including life size AT-ATs. As a trackless ride it doesn’t have a physical track that we see on the ground so you do not know exactly where the ride vehicle is going. The ride vehicle is guided by a droid unit on the front through a First Order battle. You will also encounter Kylo Ren inside this attraction.

Join Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren on this state of the art attraction. You board a resistant transport and go into the belly of a First Order Star Destroyer, and meet a pair of AT-ATs.

Your wait begins (well maybe on a slow day ;) ) beneath a mobile cannon turret which leads to an ancient ruin carved into the rocky cliffs. The ground is hardened mud and you can see the droid tracks. Disney actually used the original R2 unit from A New Hope to create those tracks.

Both the Resistance and First Order have a presence on Batuu. The story has the Resistance only setting up a week before your arrival. And if needed they can leave quickly.

The Play Disney Parks app will share information about things guests encounter as they move through the line.

You then enter the heart of the Resistant command. BB-8 appears and bears a hologram of Rey telling visitors to board the transport for a mission led by Poe Dameron. Guests are then moved past Poe's black X-wing and into the cargo bay where an animatronic Nien Nunb talks to passengers.

The doors close and visitors watch the monitors as they clear for take off. The ship uses and before long you are intercepted by the First Order. The tractor beam pulls you into the Destroyer. Tie Fighters and Stormtroopers are all around. The stormtroopers are animatronics and move to make it seem like they are real. The area uses forced perspective to make it seem even larger than it is.

Guests then move into a room where you are supposed to be interrogated. You flee the room and board the trackless ride vehicle. The rest is a mystery for now...

Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run

This simulator attraction lets you drive the Millennium Falcon just as many have wanted to before. This 6-person capsule replicates the actual Falcon cockpit and has some very cool features. As you are flying you are in control and if you do a poor job that can carry with you through Batuu and people of Batuu may be out to get in in other areas. Riders will have 1 of 3 jobs inside the cockpit of the fastest ship in the galaxy.

The Falcon outside the attraction is purposely placed the way it is to be revealed when you happen upon it. The thrusters are gasping to activate and you can hear the engines trying to turn over. The Falcon has seen some wear.

As part of this storyline Han Solo is no longer with us but of course Porgs, Chewie, and Hondo Ohnaka are. Inside the mountain range behind the Falcon is a shipping operation where visitors will wait for their chance to pilot the Falcon. You are not tourists you are fellow guests signing up to be smugglers for Ohnaka Transport Solutions.

The Falcon queue will maze through passageways and storage rooms. The line starts on the ground level and curves along the back of the Falcon. From that point you climb stairs that lead to catwalks around the mechanic shop where other ships and engines are under repair.

Along the wall there are some windows with close up views of the radar dish on top the Falcon. Neat the line moves along a bank of windows with a long unobstructed view of the top of the ship. You then head back into the depths of the shipping center, the Play Disney Parks app will allow guests to scan crates revealing more about Hondo and your mission.

Next you enter the control room and meet Hondo Ohnaka himself!

Don't ask Hondo where the ships are off too or what is in the cargo. Hondo is voiced by Jim Cummings who also does Winnie the Pooh! Hondo's assistant R5-28 summons the Falcon for the new smugglers. In the "windows" behind him you can see the Falcon rise up.

The final moments wait for the ride include waiting in the chess room. Guests will be assigned to a flight group and number. There are two pilots, two gunners, and two flight engineers.

The ride has a choose your own adventure aspect. You are in control of the Falcon. Your reputation follows you through the Play Disney Parks app on your phone. Go into Oga's and the bartender may ask about your flight.

Chewbacca has flown the Millennium Falcon to the Black Spire Outpost following the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In exchange for parts, Chewie has loaned the ship to smuggler Hondo Ohnaka for a mission which is the attraction's focus.

Hondo is a Weequay pirate from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Guests meet Hondo as he is running Ohnaka Transport Solutions, a "legitimate business" on Batuu. He asks for help as he has more cargo than he can handle and needs extra flight crews...especially those who won't ask questions.

Guests board the falcon through an access hatch on the starboard airlock, then spend some time in the main hold where you can sit at the infamous chess table or check out the ships equipment.

2 pilots will work together to steer the ship. The left pilot will control horizontal motion, while the right pilot controls vertical motion, both trying to avoid obstacles that could cause damage.

2 gunners will use blasters and missiles to defend the ship and its cargo. Guests can switch to manual targeting for a greater challenge.

2 Flight engineers will manage the ship's systems, trying to keep the Falcon from falling apart. They'll repair damage and take control of some special modifications that Hondo installed for their special mission.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: A Breakdown of the Locations and Attractions

Isn’t the virtual queue gone and ROTR is standby and ILL only, now? I came here trying to find out what times of day have the lightest traffic for ROTR

Correct. Virtual queue for RotR has been gone for a long time. It has been using a standby and ILL since fall 2021.

Thanks, I thought so but I got confused by the OP and wondered if it had been reinstated. Wonder if that can be edited….

Does anyone know if ILL is not bought, what the standby looks like throughout the day, lately? What are the heaviest & lightest crowd times? I’m assuming night time is best, early morning next best? We don’t have a WDW resort stay the day we are going to HS and I’m resisting (ha) the ILL purchase.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Post 1 has been updated.

Night time is definitely best. Only problem with that plan is if the ride goes down, it can take an hour to reboot and get back up and running. So if the ride is down towards end of the day and it’s your only chance to ride, you may miss out.

Night time wait times are amazing. This is from March 18 at 8:44pm. Park closing was 9:30pm. 5388125A-E2CA-4A36-86F7-D8051F3E6FDE.png
I had never seen it posted so low, ever. Usually we hop in line right before park close and it’s almost a walk on. Takes 18 minutes or so to get to the first room. Most of that is walking through the empty tunnels.

Here’s the other wait times in case you’re curious.

Agreed. We were just there and almost walked on at the end of the night.
Second night we tried to do Mickey & Minnie's the ROR but it took too long to make it to both.
