Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

Quick question: Since my voyage is in July, is this why I can't see the Starwars Datapad in my PlayDisney App? I was planning on looking at the itinerary (only available 60 days out?). Also can someone remind me what the Starcruiser line number is? I had a travel agent book for us, and she hasn't sent anything our way (didn't get the welcome email with video etc).
Thanks in advance!
I have heard that they are no longer sending that video around... My cruise is May the Fourth, and we didn't get that either.

Can anyone confirm / refute this?

Maybe this was already noted with all that blog hysteria about videos being removed, etc, but I just checked my welcome video e-mail from December and the link currently isn't working, FWIW.

I don't share in all the hyper-criticism of the various other preview videos... but I did cringe pretty hard at that one if I'm being honest.

Disney will transfer luggage between Disney resorts but not ‘good neighbor’ resorts like the Doubletree. So, you’ll need to bring your luggage to the Starcruiser yourself. As PP noted, they will transfer your luggage to Riv. Note, generally when Disney transfers luggage the rule of thumb is that it won’t be available until 4pm or later at its destination. You see reports of earlier and some later… but the common advice is make sure not to transfer something you will absolutely need (eg, medications, toiletries, swimming clothes, etc) during the day since you can’t control the arrival time and it is likely to be later in the day.

While it’s walkable, there are no guest walking paths from the Starcruiser to the DHS entrance so I’d be surprised if they’ll let guests just walk out of the Starcruiser grounds. Guess we’ll have to see but I suspect they won't allow that.

Getting to a park using Disney transportation is going to be tricky. Since there are no buses to the parks from Disney Springs, you'd need to take the bus to Disney Springs then take a bus to a resort, then transportation to your desired park.

I haven't thought too much about our arrival day plans yet, but on departure day we're heading to our new resort (we're driving) and will make it a pool day. A water park day also sounds like a great idea in my opinion.

Hope that helps!
When you do a transfer pool day, how do you get ready for the pool before your room is ready? I've never tried this. Also, since you have a car do you just take your bags and check them in at the next hotel with bell services or valet there? Or use the transfer? Thanks!

Our trip is June and have not received anything since initial confirmation email.

I booked through a TA in one of the presale windows and never got a welcome email etc.

A lot of people do Split Stays (without doing Galactic Starcruiser).

If you have a car, you can drive to the next hotel. Stop in front of the hotel, unload, leave your bags with Bell Services. Keep a bag with the things you would want before your room is ready (bathing suit, etc.). You can change in the bathroom. Some hotels have shower areas near the pool which might have more room than a bathroom stall.

Normally, if you are going from one Disney hotel to another Disney hotel, they will move your luggage for you. But it's possible that your room will be ready before your luggage arrives. For that reason, some people who don't have a car use Uber/Lyft/Taxi to take their luggage to the next hotel themselves. I assume this will all work the same with the Starcruiser, but if it has been mentioned, I haven't paid attention.

There should be a lot of posts about Split Stays in general on this Disney Resorts forum.

I am wondering from you people who are booked...how much immersion will be lost by every human and alien in that ship wearing a mask? It is indoors after all.

Do they have pandemics in Star Wars with all of their advances in bacta and such?

Not trying to break rules or nothing, just wondering

For me personally, I am waiting for the reviews and mask rules to come out for the first voyages. I plan on cancelling or moving out our trip if masking is still mandatory as I do feel it would make the experience much less immersive feeling from my perspective! I do know many here have said that they would not have a problem with masking the entire time. I think each person will have their own views on it, which of course is absolutely reasonable!

I actually was just apart of a test cruise and didn’t feel that masks made it less immersive. If anything it helped with the immersion because we were able to interact with the crew more personally rather than having them behind ropes like the meet and greets. I’m also a CM though so I’m used to wearing a mask all day.

Something I feel like I should know but I don’t - do we know if the MagicBand given to guests will be the new MagicBand+, current style MBs, some other format…or we don’t really know yet?

When I spoke to the CM during booking, she mentioned that guests would have something that visually designated them as cruise guests to the Batuu CMs (she referred to it as a “token” but said it hadn’t been finalized yet). Could just be an exclusive print on a Magicband, but it would make sense if it was a special version of the new band.

I'm pretty sure beings on other planets might wear masks. on the shows taking place on Tatooine a lot of the characters wear neckerchiefs, likely because it's the desert. wear one and pull it up over your mask if you want to look like you just came from Tatooine. as for everyone on the ship wearing masks I don't really care. Right now the alternative is to keep distanced. good luck with that on a space cruise. I read a question from a starcruiser guest who said they didn't want to eat in the dining room due to COVID risks, and they want to have the dinner packed up and take it back to their room so they didn't have to be with unmasked guests having dinner. Now that is someone who should probably wait.

Where was that question? On the starcruiser website? I was wondering if they have discussed the HVAC or filters used in the building since it was just built.

I called the Starcruiser - and they would only let my travel agent make the (Oga’s) reservation

eta: during our Batuu excursion

FWIW- I booked through a travel agent but I was able to make Oga's reservations, and also change them by speaking with a CM. I also got the welcome video.

Not sure if this inconsistency is GS specific, as it seems it often boils down to the CM you speak with.

Great question! I was assuming the new MagicBand+ but I haven’t heard anything other that you will get it when you check in!

Same- I was looking at the "regular" MagicBands available for guests (we have a split stay post GS) and the inventory was the lowest I've seen it in many months.

Maybe I'm reading into it, but I'm thinking the lack of choice is going to signal MagicBand+...?

FYI, I noticed today that my itinerary has a few changes compared to the screen shots posted last week. Most are just some relatively minor time tweaks. The most material thing is that the Day 1 CSL Starshow at Bespin (9:45pm-10pm) was replaced with Cruise Director's Evening Toast - "Bring a drink and join Lenka Mok to share stories of the first day of our journey while taking in views of Bespin."

Day 2 transports to Batuu now start at 8:40, not 8:10.

Lunch on Batuu was originally shown as 1-2pm, now it's 11am-2pm.

Some other minor time shifts.

If I have some time I'll do a detailed side by side.

I'm seeing even more changes- lots of previously listed activities are gone. I'm 34 days out, though, so maybe the schedule will be more formalized in the next few days. More likely, however, is that we're in a fluid state until the first cruise, and probably after that, albeit at a slower rate of change.

That, and/or the shortage of computer chips….
