Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

Same here.... all the on-ship leisure activities were removed for me. The must-do's are still there: dinner, muster.... and DHS activity Oga reservation remains.

I'm seeing even more changes- lots of previously listed activities are gone. I'm 34 days out, though, so maybe the schedule will be more formalized in the next few days. More likely, however, is that we're in a fluid state until the first cruise, and probably after that, albeit at a slower rate of change.

Yeah, mine is the same. Also looks like some new features under the “Comms” tab, but nothing material.

Yeah, I hope we will just get an updated schedule in the next couple days. I know I had moved my Oga's reservation to not conflict with two of the on board activities originally, but I'm sure they are juggling lots of stuff. Maybe there are test voyages going on this week to help them with timing pieces (for contest winners and make a wish).

I'm hearing conflicting information from phone CM about the arrival method. One CM said we'd have transport directly from our resort to the Starcruiser and the second CM said we'd have to transit from Disney Springs or use personal transportation inclusive of taxi/lyft/uber. The earliest arrival to drop off luggage is 11am, but it is unclear whether we would be allowed to wait in line at the cruiser entrance/bay until 1pm. One phone CM said we'd be shuttled to Disney Springs after dropping off the car, if it was valeted for example.

I politely expressed significant disappointment if I had to transfer to or from Disney Springs for my Disney resort hotel on either side of my stay. I felt (and was previously told) that this premium experience would include the direct transfer to and from resorts. I encourage y'all to politely express your appreciation or disappointment for services and amenities. This is such an important time to give feedback. Kindly remember this is not a "luxury experience." There are industry standard requirements in order to meet this definition, and you'll notice from Disney's recent marketing of the starcruiser that the term "luxury" has been dropped. So instead, I've been adjusting my own expectations and language to "premium."

Lest my post seems that I'm being a downer- It's an exciting time! I'm really looking forward to experiencing this ambitious product on so many levels- as a Star Wars nerd, as a theatre chick, as a mystery sleuth, as a Systems, Architecture & Decor afficiando, as a foodie, as a creative costumer, as a person that just loves to hear another person's story... there's so many intersections I'm excited about for this product.

They'll only be running the Disney buses from Springs, so if they are going to have guests picked up at their resorts, it will be using some kind of private transport. Haven't seen scheduling for any of that, coming from SSR with a March voyage. They obviously don't want to let guests hang around so the early arrivers are being sent to Springs and it appears they will have some kind of staggered entry so you don't have to stand in a huge line to get on board. also I don't care if it's a "luxury" experience or not (in the general definition of luxury because this is not a normal hotel, and Disney has had some issues marketing it because people think it's going to be like a normal hotel.)

I think what is going to happen is we will be taking an Uber over from SSR and drop the luggage, rather than depend on some kind of schedule set by Disney, and then go pregame at Springs.

This is a serious, but petty question. Does Disney change the name tags for their CMs at other resorts?

I've never seen a name tag other than the traditional white oval. And, I'm aware of the rare Legacy name tag that is blue. I thought every employee gets the same name tag, Bob Chapek on down. First name. Hometown. Am I mistaken?
Some CMs in Batuu have their names written in Aurebesh. The College Program CMs have their college names in place of hometown. I can't think of other exceptions but would not be surprised if there are.

Q.
Where do I go to start my Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser adventure on my voyage departure date?
A.
Registered Guests arrive at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal, conveniently located at Walt Disney World Resort.

Address
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal
201 South Studio Drive
Bay Lake, Florida 32830

Valet parking is included with your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser vacation package. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel before or after your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyage, transportation to or from your Disney Resort hotel is also included.

Guests should arrive at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Please ensure any travel plans allow for ample time to arrive at the terminal before 4:00 PM on the day that your voyage starts.

Only registered Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guests are permitted to visit the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Terminal or board the starcruiser.

The above is from the FAQ on the website for the Starcruiser. To me it sounds pretty clear that direct transportation to/from a Disney resort is provided. If that is not the case I hope they give everyone plenty of advance notice!!

Playing devil's advocate... The FAQ does not state that "direct transportation" will be provided. There are several cases I can think of where the "included Disney transportation" includes a transfer somewhere (i.e, not direct transportation). I know on several of my stays, we had to transfer to get from our resort to Blizzard Beach, for example.

That said, I would bet they will have a separate shuttle for the Starcruiser guests. Between those who will be staying off-property and those who will have travelled in their own vehicle or have a rented vehicle, how many Cruisers would they need to accommodate on any given day? Maybe 200 or so?

Looks like they made a headache for themselves with that copy. The main page for Disney says you might have to transfer etc. I'm not sure how they'd run around doing direct resort to resort day of, for both coming and going guests (they never seem that organized), but I can also see where that is what they literally implied and have up. Another unforced situation and potentially unhappy and confused guests.

edit to not sound snappy

No pool. No fitness center. It will apparently have a "holodeck" courtyard which is outside.

When I spoke to the CM during booking, she mentioned that guests would have something that visually designated them as cruise guests to the Batuu CMs (she referred to it as a “token” but said it hadn’t been finalized yet). Could just be an exclusive print on a Magicband, but it would make sense if it was a special version of the new band.
During my test cruise we were given a small button that had the Chandrila star line logo on it and said Halycon Starcruiser too. A couple of galaxy edge CMs noticed and asked us about our stay.

I don’t know why but I am getting very anxious about our trip! There will be 9 voyages completed by the time we have to pay in full or cancel and I am on pins and needles waiting for the first reviews for this VERY EXPENSIVE experience. I can’t put my finger on the exact reason I am getting more hesitant but the uncertainty around transportation, ship activities changing or disappearing from itineraries for those departing soon, box trucks taking us to and from GE (air quality?) and I think the fact that they made it seem like such a huge and special perk to get a LL for RoTR and MF. IDK but it all feels much less than original scope that set my expectations at least. I very much hope to be proven wrong and that the paying customers are blown away when it comes down to it! Sorry, I don’t mean to be negative. Just feeling a bit of pressure for our first trip back to WDW since 2019 and not having yet experienced GE yet at all!

I don't think you're alone in feeling anxiety- there is a lot of moving parts! I think of this as a good thing, though. I'd rather there be flexibility around making it a great experience. I have spoken at length with some of the CM about their experiences during the testing phase and uniformly they have said it's unlike anything Disney has ever done. Being ambitious means taking risks and maybe we're all feeling that a bit.

On a less philosophical note, the last CM I spoke with assured me that the itinerary hasn't changed but what is being shown has for now.

"Unlike anything Disney has ever done." Well, that could be good or bad!! Did you get a feel if the experience was positive?

I can understand how you are feeling! And I don't think you are being negative at all. I reached my P.I.F. date last week... I had to take a couple of deep breaths before clicking "send" on the payment instructions to my travel agent, that's for sure.

I am guessing you must be listening to some of the "haters" on YouTube; I know I have watched a few of those videos, as it is hard to resist. Just keep in mind that so much of that is simple click-bait. The rants/hate tend to get so many more views than honest reporting, so the rants trend better. After I came to that realization, their power over my emotions disappeared. [E.g., if 10 dates that were previously sold out suddenly show availability, that does not mean that everyone rushed out and "cancelled" those voyages!]

As another example, did Disney really make it out that the individual LL for RoTR and MF is "such a huge and special perk?" Or did Disney simply clarify that, yes, that is included as part of the experience. I know many people here on this board and elsewhere were asking the question whether the ILLs were included, so it seems natural for Disney to clarify.

One final example - re: the transport from the Halcyon down to Batuu being a "box truck." If you as a guest feel like you are being transported through space on a transport ship, do you really care what it looks like from the outside? Here's some news for all of the haters: everything at any theme park is fake, no matter how real it looks from the outside. Ask anyone who has been on a backstage tour, and they will tell you how jarring it is to see what Main Street is actually like behind the beautiful (but ersatz) turn-of-the-century facades. Also, the trip each way will probably take less than 5 minutes, so I doubt air quality will be anything to worry about. Let's not forget, Disney has been doing this for a looonng time now. :D
