So this conversion to office spaces could be temporary until tax code allows them to repurpose to Star Wars related or otherwise. My goodness it would be so easy to turn this space into something just as incredible as the original concept but make it something semi affordable and a few hours long. Basically turn this into a Star Wars version of Hoop de Doo. For like $199 adults and $159 2-9 make it a three hour redux/reduced version of the original experience. Let people walk around and explore a bit. Then dinner in the main room with a show...maybe take some pics with characters whatever. Like HDD have some guest participation. They can have two seatings a day. I dunno it's hard to get into the minds of Disney execs these days. Maybe they'll just keep it offices from here on out. A shame though to not repurpose. There was a small egress "closet" for rescue efforts. I also believe the construction modifications allowed for windows to be retrofitted.
Not a CPA but have a reasonable amount of experience here. They likely can't do anything meaningful with it from a revenue generation standpoint until at least 2027. The bones of the building are likely fine for a light refurb if they wanted to reopen and offer some sort of alternative experience.
Sadly, Halcyon was one of a kind and I'm not sure Disney will attempt something so daring until pressed to do so by competition. Here's hoping Universal's advances pushes them to think outside the box in the future.
