Can anyone tell me if these two attractions have a non-motion viewing room? I would hate to miss them, but I just cannot tolerate simulators. If so, do we just use the normal lines and tell the CM when we get ready to load?

Thanks,

Stephanie

Dinosaur isn't a simulator!! I am pretty sure Star Tours had non-moving seats though I think you can still feel the similated moving in those seats. I don't like simulators either, but you should like Dinosaur!

I don't think Star Tours does, the Unofficial guide doesn't say anything about it. And Dinosaur isn't a simulater, it's a very rough and fast ride in a jeep-like vehicle while being chased by dinosaurs.

Yeah, the Dinosaur ride actually moves, you could probabaly see the pre show and then take a chicken exit. You shouldn't get motion sickness from Dinosaur though, since you are actually moving.

None of the seat sit still for Star Tours either. Star Tours doesn't really have a preshow (just an interesting queue) so I guess you won't get to experience it.

actually - ALL of the seats are stationary...it's the entire CABIN that moves. (i hear if you've seen it moving from below, you'd never go on it againg!)

Really?? Why?

And I second the opinion that there aren't stationary seats since the whole cabin moves. If you don't like simulators, you can always shut your eyes ;)

For Star Tours, if you are visiting at a non-peak time, you can ask the CMs to run you though the attraction in a mainenance mode. During this special ride, the film and all effects are present, but the simulator does not function--the cabin remains stationary throughout.

Whether or not they can accommodate you would depend on crowd levels and the number of vehicles in service at the time.

When my son was to small to ride and we were waiting for the baby swap they allowed my mother and him to watch the movie without the motion.

Just agreeing.::yes::
Since the whole cabin moves, there is no way to do a "non-motion" viewing excpet if you do this.

Ask about it at the entrance. If they are too busy then, they might be able to tell you a better time to come back. You do need to be aware though that if you are very motion sensitive, the movie might might make you sick. Like the 360 degree movies in Canada and China, your brain might still feel like you are moving even though your body is not. If that happens, though, it's very easy to just shut your eyes.

As, the others said, there's no way to do Dinosaur as a non-motion ride since it actually does go on a track thru the ride.

I am super sensitive to motion. This past summer due to not wanting to disapoint my DS (10), I went on Mission Space, Star Tours, and Dinosaur.

Dinosaur was a breaze as far as motion issues. Yes it is jerky so if you have back/neck problems avoid it, otherwise this one should be just fine.

However, if you intend to enjoy your day after the other two rides, AVOID THEM!!! I did everything I was told in MS and although I did not get sick, I felt miserable for the rest of the evening. I felt nearly as bad when I got off Star Tours, I truely did not think I was going to make it off the ride I was so sick. I even tried to close my eyes and that made it worse!

If you truely wish to ride either MS or ST I would get FP for as late in the evening as possible. Then plan on feeling a little off afterwards.

Good luck and happy planning.

Technically, Dinosaur uses motion simulator technology, but is not a traditional motion simulator. It's like Spiderman at UO - there is a motion simulator built into the ride vehicle that "adds" to the motion. Your vehicle isn't really bucking like that, it's actually moving along quite smoothly - it's the car that adds the action. In essence, it's a dark-ride like Snow White or Winnie the Pooh with a fancy ride vehicle (and very large people-eating dinosaurs, hehe). Since there is actual motion and the ride vehicle actually moves in open air/space, most people don't even notice it.
