Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Hello!

Just following Amy around here and wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hey there Stacie!! I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving!!!

I hope the 25 min run goes well this weekend, I have no doubts that you will have no problems doing it!! As for the shin pain, I wouldn't think it was from tying your shoes too tight. Usually your foot hurts if the shoes are tied to tight. Make sure you ice your shins to help with the pain. Hope you can figure out what is causing the pain really soon.

Hope you had a safe trip to see your family!

Oh dear - there seems to be a cyber bug going around!! ;)
Hope i didnt give it to you!!!
Hope you had a 'happy' Thanksgiving Stacie :)

Hi guys!!! Just a fly-by here at the cousin's... I'll be catching up on everyone's journals when I get home. Hope everyone has had a nice weekend!!!

Wanted to let you know that I did the 25 min run!!! :woohoo: It was SLOW!!! For those of you who feel you are slow, my mile 2 was 17 minutes!!! I was jogging at that! So, total was I did my C25K (2 miles) and then we walked a 3rd mile.

Ok--gotta run! We're going shopping!!!

More later!
Stacie

Way to go Stacie!!!!!!:cheer2: I am so proud of you!

Hope you had fun shopping!:goodvibes Have a great Sunday!

Hey Stacie,

Don't worry about your times right now. You will pick up speed as time goes by. Be proud of all your accomplishments. Six months ago Did you really think that you could jog for 25 minutes? Probably not. Now you can.

I'm proud of you.

Take care,
Beth

HI guys! So, we made it back safe and sound from Maryland! We had a pretty good trip. Eating wasn't too bad, but not the greatest! :goodvibes We hiked on Thursday--4.5 miles!!! on Friday, I did my C25K and as mentioned completed my 25 min run!!! Slower than a snail, but got it done. We then went in to Washington DC. It was COLD! We went to a few museums and they were soooo crowded! It was fun though. We saw some cool stuff--Abraham Lincoln's hat. On Saturday we decided to do some shopping. We went to Home Goods / TJ Maxx. Right as we were getting ready to check out, Matt has his 2nd seizure! :sad2: The first one happened at work so I didn't actually see it. This one, I was right there. :scared1: Not cool! It's terrible witnessing something like that knowing you can't help them. Luckily I was standing there and kinda grabbed him as he went down so he didn't hurt himself. I won't bother you will all the details, but I'm glad it happened there. After it's over, you get through it you start thinking the what if's. What if it happened when we were driving, what if he was on his motorcycle, what if it had happened when were were hiking, what if it happened when he was standing on the rocks on the edge of the mountain taking pictures during the hike. I try not to let myself stay in that thought pattern. I'm now convinced it is one of his current meds and he needs come off. He hasn't taken it since and I called the Dr today to let them know what happned and try to figure out where to go from here. He is much better. He was really tired the night after it happened, but he seemed fine yesterday. For the most part, everything is back to normal for now except for the anxious, paranoid worrying... :sad2:

So... back to work today. ugh. Hope everyone has a great start to the work week!

Happy and healthy training!
Stacie

Oh, ps. We will be at Disney in May for the Minnie Marathon weekend with my family. Our anniversary is during that time. Does anyone have any suggestions??? I'm thinking dinner alone at one of the nicer restarants there just Matt and I on our anniversary.

Stacie...

Glad the trip went well, but so sorry to hear that he had another seizure! Thankfully you were there and things were handled appropriately...that's just so scary to have to deal with. I really feel for you guys.

Glad to see you were able to complete more of the C25K while you were in Maryland! Just shows your dedication to the program...you are doing so great! Keep up the awesome job :)

And as far as your anniversary, I'm not real sure what to suggest. The most romantic place I've been there is LeCellier...can't say I have much experience with the romantic side of Disney :( I'm sure some folks will have suggestions for you though!

Have a good day

Hi Stacie...

OMG...so sorry to hear about Matt's seizure. I know how frightening it is for you to experience it and obviously for him to go through it. My brother had a seizure disorder growing up and it's really quite difficult to witness. BIG  . I'm glad you know it's the meds...that is a step in the right direction.

As for your anniversary, I think a special dinner would be awesome:thumbsup2 . I think Jiko is really a fantastic restaurant and has a great atmosphere! I've not been to Citricos or Narcoosees yet but have heard they are both lovely restaurants :). California Grill is pretty cool too and if you plan it around the fireworks time you can go out on their balcony and see the fireworks over MK!!!! The other three I'd suggest are Artist Point..great food and wine (salmon yum) and Flying Fish on Boardwalk. Oh...and Blue Zoo at the Dolphin is very funky!

Good luck planning :). It will be great  .

Hey Stacie,

So sorry to hear that Matt had another seizure. Hopefully the change in meds will alleviate the problem. He can't drive again, right? Thank God he is okay.

I love LeCellier, Jiko, and Flying Fish. I haven't had the opportunity to try the others Amy mentioned.

Take care,
Beth

Hi stacie
sorry to hear Matt had another seizure.
Hope the changing of his meds solves the problem, glad he is ok, it must have been scary to see.
We did CG - loved it, quite busy & noisy though so if your looking for 'quite' romantic meal i'd try something else!!
Glad you had a safe & fun trip :)

So sorry that Matt had another seizure, but here's hoping that the docs will straighten out his meds and he will get better!

I am SO PROUD of you for sticking to the training even when you were out of town! You SO ROCK!! Now that we know the folks are going with us in May, we HAVE to get it in gear for that race! Of course, you will already have it in gear - I'll be the one huffing and puffing! Still, SO PROUD of you - you have been (and continue to be) an inspiration to ALL THE REST OF US in the family to get fit and put more exercise into our days! (Even Daddy was taking a walk each day when I left to come home this weekend!)

Take care - love you!

Susan

Hello Stacie.
Wow, big  for both you and Matt! Hope things are going better today!
As for a resturant... I'm in love with Boma. It's not a quiet resturant, but the food is fantastic, and the atomsphere really nice! Let us know what you pick out!

Alyss

Good Morning all! Thanks so much for the well wishes and hugs!!! Back at ya! I was in such a BMZ (bite me zone) yesterday! I am so emotional, ill... Hopefully today will be better.

Eventhough I was emotionally drained, I was determined to get C25K Week 7/Day 1 in last night. It's the usual warm up/cool down and 25 min of running/jogging with no breaks! :scared1: I had just done it on Friday, so I knew I could do it. It was tough, but I got through it--barely. My heart now feels ok at my super slow 17 min mile pace, but my legs were the problem yesterday. After just a few minutes my calves started hurting. Then, with 10 minutes left to go my left foot started going numb! :sad2: Have you ever run on a numb foot??? OMG! No fun!!! Last week I was thinking my shoes were too tight so I loosened them some. After the run, Matt loosened my left one and it got better as I was walking, but the shoe was too big on my heel! I really hope the problem is not my shoes. I just got them a month or so ago! ugh!

So, bottom line... numb foot and sore calves, I managed my 25 min run! Still a success! :woohoo:

So, as Susan mentioned, my mom and dad are going in May for Minnie Weekend now. Susan and I are doing the 5K as a team and Matt was going to do it as a single. I think my mom may do it now too!!! How cool! She's not much of a runner, yet... (I'm pushing, No, I mean encouraging her to start the C25K :goodvibes ) That is very exciting.

I've been playing around with the idea trying to do the 15K in May, but the way I felt last night, I just don't know. I may wait and do it for Marathon Weekend in Jan 2009. I've heard this year may be the last for many WISH folks. I really hope not! I'm just getting started! ;)

Thanks for all the dinner ideas! I'm leaning toward Narcoosees. I've heard you can sometimes get a window seat there and see the fireworks. We'll see what happens...

Oh yeah... after two discouraging "weight" weeks, I am happy to report I am down 1.2 lbs this week! Not a huge loss, but it is a loss... :woohoo:

Hope everyone is well! Keep up the good work you guys! You are all so very encouraging to me!!! :grouphug:

Stacie

Yay for the weight loss!!! :woohoo: CONGRATS!

Sorry you had such a rough day. I know you're under a lot of stress...been keeping Matt in my thoughts. Hope the docs can figure out what's causing the seizures.

I hate that your foot went numb though. That's not cool! :sad2: Sneakers might be the issue..or maybe that leg is really tight (muscles) and you need to stretch more??? I don't know what to say about that...i do get on and off numbness in my legs. But it doesn't usually last. It sounds like a nerve is maybe being pinched? See if you can double your stretching efforts. I'm also a big fan of core work ;)....keeping a strong core relieves back pressure which can lead to pinched nerves which can lead to numbness in the legs. Do you have any lower lumbar pain at all? Hope you can resolve that problem...it doesn't sound fun.

I'm really proud of you Stacie! You are working so hard...I just know you are going to have a fantastic experience in that 5K!!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Stacie,
What a couple weeks you have had- I hope everything is smoothing out for you right now. I love the BMZ- I will have to use that sometime!!!! Sorry about Matt. Meds and checking blood levels is key.

I wish I was going in May for the 5K- my goal is Jan 09- to do the 1/2.I will see you there I hope, right???????

That is great that your parents have become involved. You are motivating your whole family it sounds like.

Keep it up,
Linda
