Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

You worry too much, sweet pea! The only thing I remember thinking when you and Matt finished the 15K was "My gosh, she has to be TOTALLY SPENT!" I mean, you did a 5K the day before and then a 15K (over NINE MILES) right on top of it. I didn't expect you to be any way other than the way you were - totally wiped out and ready to go back to the room. I think I just assumed you were greatly appreciative of our support - I know how much it meant to me that all of you were there when I finished the 5K the day before - but don't beat yourself up because you didn't react in the way you THINK you should have when you finished the 15K. It is what it is (hmmm, where have I heard that before here recently???) - don't sweat it. It's all good!

Enjoy Logan's tonight. Best wishes on the 5K tomorrow (talk about not resting on your laurels). Let me know how it goes!

Susan

Hi, baby doll. Just popping in to say again how PROUD I am of you. Anyone who knows us will tell you that we used to be the original couch potatoes. I am pretty sure that you hated exercise almost as much as I did and we avoided it at all costs. Then all of a sudden you decided it was time to change that, and look what happened - you got our whole family involved! So many people have read my RR and TR and said that I am an inspiration, but I beg to differ. YOU are the inspiration, as far as I am concerned. You are the one that first got me thinking about where I want to go in terms of my physical health, and then you were the first one who encouraged me not to give up when I had such a tough winter and was so discouraged and ready to quit. YOU ROCK and I know you will accomplish much more as time goes on. I see many successful races, Disney and otherwise, in your future.

Just wanted to say that this morning. Love ya bunches - have a good one!

Susan

I totally knew you could do it!!! I don't know that I'm much of an inspiration...maybe a little pushy! :lmao: In anyway I did influence you...I'm so glad! I'm glad I you to thinking about this and I'm glad you agreed to do it! I really am so proud of you! You have come a long way and have improved your health so much! You can continue to do it. This is not the end of the road...It's only the beginning. There WILL be more races. Hmmm, Did I say pushy??? :goodvibes Love ya lots!

Hey guys! I wanted to share my race report with you...

So I'm just back from my Selma Race to Read 5K! It is benefiting the local Middle School so it's mostly the teachers and a dozen or so middle school kids... I'm not exactly sure how many participants there were...Less than 70 I think.

Now...mind you...I haven't done anything since the Minnie--two weeks ago!

My sister in law and I head out around 8 am this mornig. This is her first 5K! Let me tell you...She is a walker and she is speedy! There is not much fan fare...We get there, register and just hang out til 9am. Come 9am they announce for us to get to the starting line. We line up...gun shot...and we're off! She's walking and I start off walking and then transition to slow a jog to say with her. As we're about 50 feet into the race, we pass Matt and Jordan (my nephew). They had driven the old car (66 Iimpala) to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and had come to the sidelines to cheer us.

This was an out and back, in town, very small race. I did well considering I've done nothing for two weeks. A few times I told my SIL to go ahead and I'd catch up. She is walking! We make it...I sprint to the finish to make a new PR... 42:58 to beat my Minnie 5K time (43:10).

We hang out for the awards... I was hopeful. As mentioned...there were very few folks there. We chat and then it's award time! We wait as they go through the 12 and under...then teens...then 20-29 age group. 3rd place is announced...Nope not me... but wait....That girl finished after me! 2nd Place...It's me!!!! Yay! As I said...minimal people. I think there may have ONLY been 3 folks in my age group! lol! My SIL got 3rd place in her age group! How exciting! Her first race and first trophy!

Matt had considered the race, but when given the option of a boys breakfast with his father, brother, newphew and neighbor and running the 5K...He chose food! Too bad. There was only ONE guy in his age group. He would have totally gotten a trophy. I bet he is secrety jealous of mine. lol!

So...Selma is a small town and this was the Middle School's first 5K they put on which they said they hope to now do annually. Next year I may have a little more competition.

Oh...This was my first local event...All thus far have been Disney! Also...there was one teen who wore jeans and Sperry's...One woman who wore rainbow flip flops. I assume she was just doing the health-walk, but when she crossed the finished line she said "I have a blister now." Really? Imagine that.

Overall it was descent course...good company and trophy to boot! A Good Morning!

Check me out below showing off my trophy!

WOW!! Congratulations on the PR and the trophy!! Doesn't matter how many people were on the course, you entered, you set a new best for yourself and you earned it! Way to go!!!

Also, I'm digging the training plan you've set up for yourself...I think it will have you very prepared for the half and the training associated with it :goodvibes:

Looks like you've definitely caught the bug with all of the events you are doing...I'm very proud of you! What an exciting year this has been :)

Stacie,
Congratulations on your accomplishments this month, you and your family must be so proud.

Nice pictures and trip report from WDW, sorry I have been MIA and missed all the details before now.

You are a true inspiration to us and your family!

Linda

Hi, sweetheart. CONGRATS on the super job you did at the 5K last Saturday! I'm SO proud of you.

And I just have to tell you - I came across the pictures you and Matt took when we were all at WDW in January of 2006. I did not realize how much weight and inches you have lost until I looked at them. It is VERY OBVIOUS that you are in better shape now than you were then, by a LONG SHOT. If you haven't looked at those pictures in a while, GO LOOK AT THEM - you will be able to see the difference between them and the ones you put up from last weekend!

WAY TO GO - YOU ROCK, BABY GIRL!!!

Hope you have a great day!

Susan

I'm just catching up now with everyone's journal, and I just wanted to reiterate what I've said on the other threads. The short version--you ROCK! You've worked so hard for everything--you deserve that PR, that award, all that bling from the races.:cool1:

Also, I want you to know that you're not alone in your post-race behavior. Even before my Sunday race ended I was beginning to felt a bit, well, numb--and it wasn't because I was tired. It was because I had been mentally in this race for so long, through the training and the rest days and the eating, that in some ways I was mentally spent before the race even began. So by the end, I was done with things and just going on automatic. ("I have to get my banana and my water, take care of my blisters, grab my gear...") So I totally get it. And I like to think my reaction is because I'm a really sensitive gal, and it's so easy for me to be emotionally overwhelmed. I really do think the same might be said of you--you feel so much that it doesn't always so on the outside because you have to save some energy just to get through.

And I know that everyone knows how happy your were--to be there, to complete, to be surrounded by family and friends, to challenge yourself--and that they were happy for you. Just like Susan's posts (and Amy's and Cam's and everyone's) indicate--we all have your back. And I find it interesting to think you and I are kind of on the same page with C25K. I'm thinking of picking it up again before my January training for the intervals and to try to get faster. Isn't that strange that we're in the same place?

Oh, and since I've read other things from you today. I just know you're going to come back from your weekend feeling refreshed and recharged, and ready to get back on the wagon with everything. :thumbsup2

So...Can I just do the races and not train? sigh. I do enjoy the events...I'm just majorly not in a training mode right now. ugh. I WILL be back on track next week though.

Stacie -- congrats on the trophy, but MAJOR MAJOR KUDOS, sweetie on the new PR!!! How awesome! I am so happy for you and so proud to be on the WISH team with you. Thanks!!! I did see the pics from 2006. Yep... I am a bit smaller now. Thanks for noticing. Sometimes you don't notice till see pictures!

Deb...I'm glad to know I'm not alone in the post-race behavior! I do think I will pick up C25K next week. I think it will keep me moving and help to get me back on track! :thumbsup2 BTW... I Loved your race report. I wish I could be as entertaining as you!

Hey everyone!!! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope everyone is well!

I've been in such a non-training mode right now...I didn't really have much to post. I was supposed to start Monday on my new plan right...Well didn't happen. I just can't get out of bed. ugh. I need too much sleep! I am determined to start this coming week though. I think I will start the C25K plan back to try to get back on track. It will be interesting to see how I feel this time around. I know I'll get through the first weeks with no problem. I know last time...every week had it's struggles. I hope this time to feel a difference in my endurance and that will be enough to encourage me to keep me going. KNOWing that my heart is stronger is such a cool thing! :thumbsup2

We are off to the coast this weekend. I think my friend Michele is taking her workout gear so hopefully we'll get in a few walks in the AM before we do anything else. I'm hoping this will shock my body and kinda help get it used to getting up and exercising before anything else. I'm taking my camera so maybe I'll snap a few pics of the view for you guys! Since I'll be in my swimsuit, I'll be taking the pics...not in them! lol!

Ok...So who wants to call me at 5:30am Tuesday morning to get me out of bed and doing C25K??? Wed will be Pilates... Amy??? Any takers??? lol!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy your time off work (if you're off on Monday that is...)

Oh, Did I mention I have now have another person at work to support? My on boss is leaving...only 3 more weeks and I'm taking on another person so I'll be officially supporting 2 managers. They are both pretty nice, but when they both want to travel...one to Peru and Argentina and the other to the UK, China and Japan...it's make my life very interesting!

Later!
Stacie
