Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Okay, Stacie, seems like you have quite the fan club here but I can't help but jump on board. :yay: You are so amazing! I am so impressed with the progress you have made and so quickly. As for last week's shin splints, can I offer up some advice? I went through a period between Thanksgiving and Christmas where I was getting them very frequently. And almost like clock-work, somewhere between 1.6 and 1.9 miles they would disappear. It was the strangest thing! There would be a dull ache reminding me of where the shin splint was, but just for another 10 minutes or so after they went away. I really do think that it was because I was pushing too hard, too soon and when I was sufficiently warmed up, my body was much happier! I guess I'm posting this to say that you might want to walk very casually through the shin splints the next time to see if they diminish as your muscles warm -up. Then you will know that that works if it happens at the start of a race.

In the meantime, keep up the awesome work! :cool1: I am truly LOVING reading about your progress!

Stacie,
That is just awesome!!!!!!!You are amazing how you push yourself, keep going even if you hit a rough patch. We all have days when we plan to workout, it is gorgeous out but we just don't have it. That is called listening to your body as long as you pick it up next time.

Have a great one,
Linda

Hey Stacie,

Congratulaions on your 5 mile run. That one is a milestone!:thumbsup2 You have come so far. You are right to acknowledge that a few months ago 3 miles was intimidating. Now you can blow it off.

I am also really proud of you for backing off when your shin was hurting. You listened to your body, and there is no shame in that.

Have a fantastic weekend,
Beth

How's it going this weekend, Stacie?? :goodvibes:

Hey guys!!! You all are just awesome!!! BIG    !!!

Last week was really a downer week for me. Everything was just all messed up! I will spare you the details, but let's just say I didn't get any of those 3 miles in! I get some miles, but not 3.

This is a new week though...Back on track. I hope to start the week off well with some XT tonight. 50 min on schedule. Probably will split it between the elliptical and bike. I don't want rush into 50 min on the ellipitical since I missed last week's XT session.

Hopefully, this week will look like this...

Mon: 50 min XT
Tues: Aquacise
Wed: 5 mile WR
Thurs: off
Fri: 3 miler
Sat: ??? probably off since we are going to the coast
Sun: 7 miler :scared1:

The 7 miler has got me shak'in in my boots! It seems so much further than 6. :confused3 I am super excited for the Minnie trip. I'm even excited about the 15K race, but these next two Long WR has me extremely nervous. I think it's just because it's unknow territory.

I think that's about all from me for now...

I promise to try to check in w/ everyone...Last week was just crazy!!!

Stacie

Hi Stacie,

I don't think you have to worry aobut your LRWs. You have conquered every challenge you have set for yourself. You will accomplish this one to. Just take it one step at a time, and don't worry about the future too much.

Take care,
BEth

Stacie I see you are from NC, me too. I have lived here about a year and a half. You probably live further east then me as you said you were going to the beach Saturday. I also see you like to visit Disney, me too. I will be making my third trip down for the Minnie. This will be my first big race. I have run a couple 5K's, the last one was two years ago.

Keep up the great weight and exercise success. It is a life long commitment or at least it has been for me.:yay:

Stacie -- Sorry last week was dreadful. Your plan for your week looks great! You will be so rockin' those 7 miles, kiddo! :cool1: Can't wait to hear how it goes. Keep up the awesome work. I am really hoping to see you at the WISH meet in 18 days! :grouphug:

Stacie: Remember how far you've come in your journey already, how strong you are, and how much you've accomplished. These LRs will help you prepare for the Minnie, and just be the icing on the cake. You'll feel so much better prepared than you already do--and you'll have the knowledge that you've done the toughest part, the training. (In many ways, I think the training is more daunting.)

And remember, we're all here rooting for you! :cheer2:

Hi Stacie
glad your feeling more upbeat this week :)
7 miler would have me shaking too, but i know you can do it :)

Sorry last week was a tough week, Stacy. Your plan for the week ahead looks good and I know that you will do a great job on the 7 miler! You CAN do it!:cheer2:

I don't think you have to worry aobut your LRWs. You have conquered every challenge you have set for yourself. You will accomplish this one to. Just take it one step at a time, and don't worry about the future too much.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You're gonna ROCK IT, girl. I just know it. :cool2: Keep that confidence level up and you'll do great! :thumbsup2

Thanks for checking you guys and the votes of confidence!!!

Joan... I live in Selma, NC. It's about 45 min east of Raleigh. My parents have small trailer in Stacy, NC--off Hwy 70 towards the Outerbanks. Beaufort is about a 1/2 hr drive. I hope to go over and get my 7 miles in there on Saturday. I figure I can run around the town and down by the marina and see the water and the boats and maybe not focus so much on how far I actually have to go.

So, last night I did 20 min on the elliptical and 35 min on the bike. A good 55 min of XT! Yay! Today I am supposed to aquacise, but seeing as how it starts in 1hr, 15 min, and I am still at work (50 min drive away) I may not make it. If not, I'll try to run today instead of tomorrow. I guess I'll just have to see how much time I have once I get home. If I try to do the 5 miles, I know it will take at least 1hr, 15 min w/ minimal stretching and we have a religious meting at 7:30! That will be cutting it close, but that's my life.

Just as a side, non-training note...We finally bought our new carry-on suitecase for our WDW Minnie trip! yay! My Magical Express Stuff came in the mail, My t-shirt making is underway and I'm trying to buy a new camera before the trip. I just don't know how I'm going to pay for it. All these WISH shirts and running skirts and cameras and t-shirts are really starting to add up! :upsidedow

Ok...Matt just called. We're off now.

I'll update tomorrow...Did I aquacise or run??? hmmmm.

Stacie

Hi Stacie,

Great job getting those XT workouts in yesterday! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

It sounds like you are ready for the Minnie!:thumbsup2 I hope you'll post pictures of the t-shirts that you're making when you're done with them. :goodvibes

Hope you have a good evening!

Hi Stacie, some weeks just get a bit derailed by life but you are back on track this week so good job! Hope you made it to aquasize, if not thats good you had a backup plan.

Congrats on teh new luggage, that is always fun! Your trip is so close, you must be getting so excited!

So...Matt had to work later than expected last night so we didn't get home until 6:30. Obviously, I missed aquacise since it started at 6:15 and I didn't have to invest to get in the 5 miler (scheduled for today anyway). SO, what did we do? Took a nap!!! We both slept from about 6:30 - 8:30! Can you believe it? Then we are hungry so what do we do??? Order Papa John's Pizza and breadsticks and eat pizza at 9:30pm!!! :headache: It was good. I LOVE pizza. I had two cheese slice and 2.5 of the plain breadsticks w/ the cheese dipping sauce. :lovestruc I did feel horrible after eating all that bread though. Mentally too. Not only did I not exercise, but I hate pizza. I'm PMS's this week, so therefore, no self control! :headache: I do have my 5 miler planned for today so hopefully I'll burn off some of that pizza!

I've actually done well maintaining my weight, but I've not lost a darn lb since January! I've pretty much given up loseing any weight until after the Minnie. I need to focus on the training and getting through the 15K and the WDW Vacation, then I'm going to focus on the weight aspect while figuring out what my exercise "base" will be until it's time to kick it into high gear and train for the 1/2 marathon. Since it's summer, we tend to eat a bit lighter since it's so hot here. Hopefully more fruit and a few more salads will be on the menu.

Have any of you ever tried the fold up bags for travel? I'm not sure how to describe them other than they fold up and snap for easy travel. We've used them before for travel to Mexico. We pack them in the suitecase then unsnap and use for the trip home for the souvenirs. ABC Distribuiting has them for $5.95. If you're intersted, check it out. I bought my first one e-bay. I think it's great for traveling... Even for a quick trip to wal-mart if you're one who doesn't like to use plastic bags. I keep thinking I'm going to start taking my own bags...

I think only the small tote folds up... You get two difference sizes for the one priace of 5.95.

So, that's all for now! Oh, did I menition I got a pretty tink watch on ebay for less than $20 with Shipping! It's silver w/ a little yellow gold. When it came in, it had the Disney tag on it for $95!!! It's really cute!

Stacie

Hi Stacie!

Mmmm...Papa John's...I'm a garlic sauce stick dipper myself :goodvibes:

Just wanted to pop in and say hello...and see how the 5 miles went today! Just try to get in some good solid workouts, stay injury free and you'll do awesome at the Minnie :)

Hi Stacie,

TOM really makes me tired. You listened to your body and rested. Good for you. Look at it this way, you could have spent those 2 hours snacking. Pizza is one of my trigger foods. I'm impressed you could stop at 2 pieces. Push the water today, and you will be fine.

Congrats on the luggage, and the watch sounds cute!

Take care,
Beth
