Okay, Stacie, seems like you have quite the fan club here but I can't help but jump on board.
You are so amazing! I am so impressed with the progress you have made and so quickly. As for last week's shin splints, can I offer up some advice? I went through a period between Thanksgiving and Christmas where I was getting them very frequently. And almost like clock-work, somewhere between 1.6 and 1.9 miles they would disappear. It was the strangest thing! There would be a dull ache reminding me of where the shin splint was, but just for another 10 minutes or so after they went away. I really do think that it was because I was pushing too hard, too soon and when I was sufficiently warmed up, my body was much happier! I guess I'm posting this to say that you might want to walk very casually through the shin splints the next time to see if they diminish as your muscles warm -up. Then you will know that that works if it happens at the start of a race.
In the meantime, keep up the awesome work!
