KC or St. Louis folks :)

We are flying to Disney World in September. What are you paying for airfare? Rates seem really high...Just wondering if I should watch something other than SWA

I'm new to flying out of KC, so I'm not sure if these are the rates all the time, but for our Spring Break trip in March we got tix for $49 each way. $468 for our family of 4.

Is that with SWA? That sounds like a pretty great rate. Was it a special? Thanks for the info :) We also need 4 tix.

Oops, sorry to leave out the airline. Yes it was SWA. I booked right when the dates opened up and that was the special internet rate. I also had a farewatcher at Orbitz, I think the next best fare was on Midwest, but that was around $200 roundtrip per person. Allegiant Air out of Springfield, MO was a bit more, though I did see $99 one way rates on their site for less popular dates. The southwest fare was a spectacular deal...worth the 4 hour drive. heh heh We're spending less for all 4 of us to fly than what 1 ticket would cost from our 'home' airport.

Good luck with your research!

Thanks again for the feedback :)
Enjoy your trip next month~

SW in May out of KC for us was $353.00 per person, no bargin here. We found a cheaper flight on Allegaint out of Spfd Mo. 94 days left for us until we make our 13th trip to WDW.....

I'll keep checking Allegiant as well. Thanks for the tip. We are about 2.5 hours from KC, St. Louis and Springfield...still what a struggle trying to get a decent price!

With all the SWA bashing that's been going on on these boards since they extended their booking dates, I expect them to be out of business because all the DIS'ers won't be flying them.

The one thing most people don't realize, is that their current systemwide sale goes through February 22, which would be this Thursday. I would expect a new sale to happen shortly thereafter. We're doing our May trip half Rapid Rewards and half Internet fare...$89 ABQ-MCO. Hope to drop that $89 down to maybe $49 or $59 by then with a sale/DING! fare.

Good luck to all.

We were able to get airfare thru SWA for 59 each way for Sept 2004 and 2005. Last year May 59 each way. I still haven't booked for our May trip. I'm hoping soon that I can catch a ding or fare sale. You shouldn't have any problems getting a good fare for Sept. I remember booking around early August for my Sept dates. Good Luck!

Will you find me on the boards early August and remind me to be patient?! Thanks for the encouragement :) I like reading that!!

We're flying out of STL to MCO in June. I had waited for SWA to release their summer dates only to discover that once they did, the lowest price was $169 each way (more than $350 roundtrip after taxes!). I was shocked that the prices were so high especially since I checked the prices immediately after the schedule was extended. I had been watching the dings as they came in and saw that most dings haven't been less than $67 each way for the past few months. We then noticed that American Airlines had a roundtrip flight for $187. We ended up booking that because we could get the times we wanted without having to worry about whether a ding would be available or not. Last year, we paid $250 per person roundtrip from STL to MCO for our March trip on American Airlines.

last year I think our American tix were $207pp. We booked it through Disney - it was cheaper. I am holding off for a couple of months, but if nothing opens up looks like we may be spending about $250pp. ugh. More than I had hoped for.

October, 2006--RT tickets on SWA were $133 per person from STL to MCO
February, 2007--RT tickets on SWA were $117 per person from KC to MCO
March, 2007--I missed it when SWA opened up the dates for 3/18-3/23 by about 3-4 hours and by then they had went up to $365 RT per person from KC to MCO. STL to MCO were a few dollars higher. These fares have not went down since they opened the dates and no DINGS for those dates yet.
May, 2007--RT tickets on SWA were $207 per person from KC to MCO the afternoon the dates opened. In fact, I was on the ME bus heading back to the airport when I had to help DD with booking our May flights. It's a good thing we did as the next morning they had went up to $349 per person.

We have flown to Orlando on SWA several times in the past 6 years from either KC or STL and I have never seen prices as high as they have been this year. In March, we will be driving unless we get a DING. In May, we went ahead and booked because DH and DD each had a Rapid Rewards Credit to use. I will probably be checking the other airlines with non-stop flights sooner and will book with them if the price is under $200. I really like SWA though and hopefully, they will again be able to offer competitive fares from Missouri.

I just got back from WDW last week. My SW roundtrip ticket out of KC was $117.

Hi!

I got lucky and paid $138.10 apiece on Delta for our June trip; bought the tickets last week.

We have a plane change in Atlanta but I can deal with that for this price: they were CHEAPER than Midwest!!!

Don't forget that Airtran is also flying from STL too. (starting in May-June) Increased competition should keep fares low on the STL-MCO route.

There are also KC(MCI)-MCO flights on Airtran.
