I have looked out my window to a white covered ground before, but never to anything like this. I will be grateful for our 2-3-4 inches that we get every once in a while. We're so ready for spring down here after our 'rough' winter, but we have only had a tiny fraction of the craziness so many of you guys have had. You'd make great fun of us and the way things come to a grinding halt over two inches of snow around here. ;)

The tire story is awesome. I love hearing about people doing such good deeds for others. I would also say that it speaks volumes about how your boy is treasured by the people he works with, so I know that makes you incredibly proud.

It's been 12 years since we've had that much snow and I can certainly wait another 12 years before I see it again (and I hope to be moved from here long before that).

It is so nice to know that there are such giving people in the world. And I found out it is one of the dad's whose son Markie has been working a lot of one on one with and he made it out of their regional for the first time in three years to qualify for the sectionals!

Poor Cookie. All that snow can't be fun for her. It's funny, she looks sort of like a stuffed dog Landon has. Landon likes to chew the ears.

Remind me not to introduce Landon to Cookie. :lmao::lmao: I have a little stuffed dog that looks just like her too.

Glad to see you made it through the storm okay. I haven't turned on the weather lately since it is starting to get pretty depressing that we are getting snow every few days. Hopefully, the worst is over for you guys.

We are expecting more snow tomorrow and maybe 2 days next week. I have gotten used to having Caitlin home at least 2 days during the week.

Poor Cookie. One of my dogs hates the snow. There is a bunch of ice that is melting right onto our side stairs were we let the dogs out and everytime she goes out she slips down the stairs.

Did you end up with more snow? We got three more inches today. Now it is supposed to get bitter cold...highs only around 15 to 8 for the next two weeks.

Hi Kathy! How's everything going now that its a few days after the storm?

Not goo; you'll see in my next post. (:

Hi Kathy!

Looking at your pictures is like looking outside here....:lmao:If we get much more snow this year I'm not sure where the city will put it...I told Jasmine when she's home from the cruise I want to drive out to where they dump the snow for the south end of the city and take a picture....it's huge!!!

Jasmine told me to let you know she'll be waving as the descend into Chicago this afternoon:hug: Hope you're keeping well!

I know you guys have been really getting hit. I hope it gets better for you soon.

Thanks, Jasmine, for the wave.

You have no idea how much I wish! So you got 20 inches? That is crazy!!!!!

Don't we all wish we were drinking Mai Tai's and enjoying 80 degree weather right about now????

Your snow pictures are RIDICULOUS!!!! We have always been good for a few good storms this year but instead we are passing it all along to CT and NJ :rolleyes1

I am sure Florida is looking really good to you right about now!! :goodvibes

Tracy

Tracy, I'm sure CT and NJ appreciate you sharing with them. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

If I had to vote, kathy, I'd say, GF for lunch and a Capt's Grille for dinner. I haven't tried either one, but those 2 places always get such great reviews and the menus look like there's a little something for everyone.

Thanks, Liesa. Grand Floridian is leading the polls.

UGH on the shoveling, I do NOT miss that! Glad to see you dug yourselves out but poor little Cookie!

Hi, Cynthia. The shoveling was awful only because there was just SOOOOOO much.

Congrats to The Good Guys:banana:

Thanks, Rosie.

:goodvibes:goodvibes Congratulations!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks, Tim.

:woohoo: Congrats to all!!! :woohoo:

Thanks, Christine.

:woohoo: Congratulations to the Champs!!!

Thank you, Marv.

Well, there is a possibility unless we get really lucky and win the lotto or the insurance company decides to pay for it, that we may end up not going on our trip. I woke up two mornings ago to find a huge water spot on the ceiling of our bedroom; the next morning there was a second one. Today, I was cleaning house, and found two of them in the cathedrall ceiling in our living room. It looks as if we are going to need a new roof and then repair the ceilings and paint. I am just sick right now and just want to cry.

I am so sorry about this, Kathy! Wish I could give you a hug in person, but in the meantime, this will have to do!

Do you have home owners insurance - aren't they supposed to pay for something like this?
I am really, really keeping my fingers crossed for you, so this will be sorted out and NOT make you cancel your trip! :grouphug:

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your ceiling water woes. I hope it doesn't turn out to cost as much as you fear.

Kathy we have the same problem with 2 windows in the kitchen and bathroom !!! Judy and I spent this morning knocking down icicles and using the hair dryer to melt the ice in an attempt to stop the leaking around the windows !!The kitchen is the worse !!We are praying ,it doesn't get worse and we have major repairs to do !!This has been a HARD winter :sad2:
I am so sorry for you I hope your homeowners will pay for it !!

Congrats for the boy's wrestling win.

So sorry for the roof issues. Hopefully homeowners will be able to cover it but it does stink that real life is intruding on vacation plans.

:sad2: I am so sorry to hear about the water damage. If it is due to the snow...I wonder if your home owners will deal with it. I know ours would not deal with a "slow leak" since it was considered a maintenance problem rather than an "accident". Weather related should be an accident. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I really would hate for you to have to cancel a trip.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the leaks. I hope the repair won't be too major and that you'll still be able to swing coming to FL.

First of all you are in desperate need of a couple of these:hug::hug::hug:

I hope this insurance company comes through for you....I want to cry for you:hug:

Oh no Kathy :sad1: I hope your insurance will cover this. I have a roof rake that takes the snow off....haven't used it although I know I should :rolleyes I know when all of this melts it is going to be a total mess :headache:

Hope it all works out for you :hug::hug:

Tracy

That is so sucky!!! I am so done with snow. It hasn't been a fun year! I am crossing my fingers that the insurance will take care of your roof, you are definitely in need of a vacation!

I am only going to think positively and pray really hard that your insurance will cover this. I hope the damage does not get any worse and you will hear good news from the insurance company soon. In the mean time :hug::hug:

Hi, everyone. I'll do invidiual responses tomorrow as I'm too wiped out tonight if I need to be whitty or anything. Just got home an hour ago from working at the high school all day for the Regional Wrestling Tournament (this is the school where both our kids went). I was in charge of writing out the brackets all day long (that's a lot of writing). And the "good guys" won their 12th Consecutive Regional Championship (to go along with their 13th Consecutive Conference Championship last weekend).

Well, congratulations for this!

And several of these :hug::hug::hug: for this. This winter has been hard on so many people. My mom and aunt have both had leakage in their houses. I think the only reason our roof is holding it together (ironically after all that we went through last year) is that there are several layers of roofing material up there. I hope your homeowner's covers it and/or the repairs won't be so costly. Why do these things happen? Why? Why?

I truly hope and pray for everyone's sake that the worst of this is over! And here's one more for good measure.

I'm so sorry Kathy. I hope your insurance will cover this. Why does something like this always happen to you when you have a trip planned? I'll be praying for you guys.. :grouphug::grouphug:

Oh Kathy! I hope you called them and someone is coming out today to investigate. Ideally they actually bring/send an expert (Civil or Structural Engineer that specializes in water intrusion/building envelope, also called a forensic engineer), not just the adjuster, to look at it. This is exactly the kind of work my company does (investigates) to determine where/why the failure occurred.

Given the number of locations and the timing, that sounds like a snow load failure which would be covered. If you've had no other indicators and given how widespread it sounds, that doesn't (on the face of it) seem like improper maintenance, which they will deny. You need to get something in place asap to prevent further damage which they should help arrange, point you in the right direction, even if it isn't covered.

How old is the roof?

All my fingers and toes crossed for you.
