I am booked at SSR for June. This is our first visit and would love to hear all about it.

SSR is pretty nice. We were there in Oct and are going back in early June. We liked staying in the Congress Park area since it was close to DTD. Nice walk over there. We didn't use the main pool too much since it rained some and it was just more convenient to go to the Congress Park pool. I like the layout of the resort; it's more like OKW and we love OKW. The sleeper sofa was very comfortable. My SIL got it and our son slept on the floor on the sofa cushions. Husband and I got the king bed. We tried to get a two bedroom after we decided to invite his sister, but none were available.

We have a studio in June so we'll see how that is.

The bus transportation was good. No long waits or crammed full buses. We did use the car a few times, especially to the water park.

Have a good trip.

I hope you guys have a great stay at SSR. It is visually a nice resort. The pool, quiet pool, spa and gym are all very nice. It is like OKW with a spread out design. Personally I don't like it, but then again I don't like OKW either. I don't go to Orlando for a condo type experience. I greatly prefer a hotel like stay. Artists Pallette has an extremely limited menu. Food is OK, breakfast was pretty good, lunch good and dinner poor. The store is a joke. About all it has that is good is a decent wine selection. Other timeshares, mainly Marriott does a much better jod with the stores. AP and store needs more convenience items and less fancy cheeses and the like. No food served poolside. You must go inside to AP, very inconvenient with a family. Only a few tables to sit and eat around the pool also. Grab one early if you want it. You won't find room service at this "resort" and good luck getting someone to help with your luggage. I know bellman are sometimes out front but they are worthless at best. You drive to your unit and park so you just end up hauling all your luggage and groceries up to your room. No bell carts or shopping carts to help either. Basically this is a nice resort if you don't mind doing it yourself. That means long walks to the main pool area, eating off property at the parks or DTD. If this is you then you'll love the place. If you want a full service vacation look elsewhere. My best advice is go and enjoy. Any day at WDW is better than a day at home. Try all the DVC properties to see which you like the best. We have found that we are a BWV or BCV family as opposed to a OKW or SSR family. That doesn't mean OKW & SSR are bad, they just aren't for us. Good luck and I hope you guys have great weather and that you love SSR. Many on here seem to love the place.

We have stayed at all 7 DVC resorts and have enjoyed each one.

We stayed at SSR opening week and had a wonderful time. We did enjoy Artist's Palette- it is an upscale version of a food court. With DD so nearby, finding other dining options is not a challenge at all.

The resort store offers the same choices as all other DVC resorts, with typical Disney merchandise and convenience store food items (and prices). If you will need groceries, there are several supermarkets nearby.

The Bell Staff is available 24 hours a day and they use luggage carts and carriers- just like at other WDW resorts. You can call from your room phone if you need assitance and they are available right at check in. They will usually greet you when you arrive at the check-in area and are available to assist with luggage at arrival and departure. They will also store luggage and refrigerate groceries if your room is not yet ready when you arrive and will also store your bags after you check-out if needed. They are also a great resource for information about the resort, WDW and travel to off-site attractions if desired.

The walk to the pool will take about 5 minutes or less from any of the current buildings and there are also auxilliary pools next to each of the groupings of buildings- with play areas and grills. The pool is as close to most of the villas as at any DVC resort. Buildings in The Springs are directly across the street from the High Rock Springs Pool - a walk of about 25-100 yards.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at SSR and will return. We had a room with a view of the lake and PI and enjoyed the brief fireworks at midnight each night from our balcony.

Here are some photos from our wonderful stay at <a href="http://disneydoc.homestead.com/ssr504.html">SSR.</a>

I'm sure you'll have a great stay! :)

Enjoy!

:earsboy: The resort is beautiful and very quite... well except last night at midnight the fireworks by Downtown Disney! One other perk here at SSR is the airline check-in... that is if you fly US Air, United or Delta airlines. Prior to your departure, you can check your bags AND receive your boarding pass here. The earliest is 12 hours before your flight, but no less than 3 hours before departure of your flight. Check-in is next to the Carriage House and is open from 6AM to 2PM. I plan on trying this service Friday... :earsboy:

BTW... if any uses the Disney wake-up call with the front desk... be prepared for a screaming voice on the other end... by someone very familar!! It definitly woke me up! :rotfl2:
