I have never really thought about auto racing but interesting almost 83% of us have no interest. I would imagine we represent the gen population fairly well. Not a good sign for auto racing.
350, 000 people at the race and over 5 million watching . Its is the highest attended sporting event in the world.

I think many are 'once a year' type of race fans much like those who watch the triple crown horse races but have zero other interest in horse racing.

Never been to the Indy 500, don’t really care for that style of racing.

We have been to several NASCAR races though, for several years we had season tickets to the Michigan races.

I voted “other.” I have watched it in the past (but haven’t attended in person). The Indy 500 was the one party my parents hosted for their friends every year.

I don’t really follow it anymore (and didn’t particularly enjoy it back then), but we went to visit my parents this afternoon and caught the last 20 laps or so. (Didn’t they used to race on Monday?)

So I did see some of it but not really on purpose?

500 has always been scheduled for Sunday. Once in a great while there was all day rain/bad weather that caused the race to be run on Monday, but doesn't happen very often. Many who attend travel quite a distance to get to the race so I think scheduling it for Sunday also allowed time for people to travel back home on Monday which is also a holiday.
