Well if you want to read my opinion on the bus issue it is already up but now let me give my trip report.

As most of you know Ds has epilepsy and unfortunately he had many seizures this trip but the rest about that is on the disabilities board.

Now the trip. We flew out at 6;50 am straight through on Southwest. The ride was great the kids were awesome. It was the first time we joined up with family. There was a total of 7 of us. Me, Dh, Ds (4) SIL BIL DNeice (6) DNephew(4).

We split up at the airport since this wasn't palnned as being a family trip (last minute cheap flights and rearranging enabl;ed us to go together) So we went to our resort SSR and they to their's POR.

We were in room 1812. Top floor AWESOME view similar to the one we had in Nov except up on more floor. Clean as could be only some plates (only had 2) were missing and only one bowl for cereal so I had to call (puts me in the naughty category I know) they had the stuff right up for us. Since studios only have paper for eating there was no way we could manage with 1 bowl and 2 plates lol. But the room was spotless.

Since Ds likes to sleep with us it got crowded on the 3rd night and it was a perfect excuse to try the sofa bed. Dh thought it felt like concrete when he took it out. That worried me but when I moved to it myself in the middle of the night it was amazingly comfortable. You would have never known you were on a fold out sofa. Is it as comfortable as the bed ? Nope (how could it be) but definitely confortable and I slept well on it :) No weird pains in the morning either.

We spent 2 mornings at the pool. The first being Tuesday of last week. They had games for the kids and the pool was almost crowded. Not bad enough to not be enjoyable but enough to make me rethink my opinion on if it will be big enough when the resort is at capacity. The CMs in the pool were amazing with the kids. The zero entry is an awesome feature for people with little ones. Between that and the two slides our kids did not want to leave the pool. Got laundry done while at the pool since the laundry facilities are right off the pool area. They are so clean. It was nice :)

We had lunch at Artist Palette and it was awesome. I had the blue cheese and Roast beef sandwich and Dh had the mexican pizza. YUMMY. The kids meal needs to have a little more nuggets on it (only four) Ds (4) could have eaten 6 but he had some of daddy's pizza so it was ok. I highly recommend eating there. It was great and the 10% off for lunch and dinner is a pleasant surprise. I never knew we received that...should check out my perks a little more lol.

The buses were on schedule and aside from the stragglers from DTD using the Congress Park stop as their transportation hub.....oops that another thread...the only "problem" if you could call it that was Epcot. Having the SSR and OKW at the same stop confused the bus drivers. We had 2 OKW busses pass before another said he could take us to SSR. Why didn't the others offer? I am not sure. Where was the SSR bus? I don't know but not too big of a deal we got back home ok :)

I used the gym and it is NICE. The equiptment is amazing. Too bad I was too worn out to do more than 25 minutes on the recumbnent bike LOL They had alot of nice work out machines as well as a ton of cardio equiptment. It was awesome. BIL paid to use it too since he was not a resort guest and not a DVC member it was $13 for him.

The walk from SSR to DTD is great. Having the entire area a 5 minute walk away is awesome! We also did the west side path and Holy God above that was LONGGGGGG! Nice but definitely a hike. We saw the boat dock and it is pretty nice also. We did not take the boat yet so it is something I cannot report on.

I am still really happy that we bought at SSR once completed it will be amazing. Alot of the landscaping was done on the newer buildings so I am not sure if that is a sign that they are ready to open yet.

We spoke to the DVC rep on the West Side during our stroll and he gave me some new rumors. He said that when SSR is completed in 2007 he said there will be at least 2 full service restaurants on the site. That not to worry it is not an oversite and DVC has them in their plans. He said that SSR will be their premier property and that alot of exciting things will be happening there.

Hopefully he is right but either way I love it there now and am sure I will love it more when it is completed. I cannot wait to go back. Even with people sneaking onto our busses j/k lOL.

Feel free to fire away the questions I know I forgot to mention alot.

Thanks so much for the trip report!
I really can't wait for my first trip 'home'', my first DVC trip ever!
Why won't this countdown clock move any quicker? :) :hourglass

Thanks for the report...trust a Long Islander to be thorough. :flower: Spent the first 18 years there before coming south...now we're going to be neighbors again....Can't wait to go home.

This might show my inexperience  But, I'm pretty new around her-so here it goes(no laughing now) So what exactly does SSR stand for I looked it up on the abbreviation site -but no luck :confused3 Thanks in advance :wave2:

Thanks-I thought it was a resort ;)
It is :) It is the new DVC resort by downtown Disney

EDIT DUH I read it wrong like "I thought it was a resort?" Instead of "I thought it was a resort!"

LOL it's late LOL

Great trip report! I enjoyed it! The bus abuse thread created some excitement; I didn't make it all the way through that one.

Hope your DS is doing better now.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing!! Sorry about your son!!

Allison

thanks for the report and especially the info/rumor about the 2 full service restaurants!

your welcome guys and thanks about my son. He is a little trooper. He amazes me since he will not let this get him down. Sometimes he can shake a seizure off and continue on other times he needs to sleep but wakes up happy and full of energy to take on the rest of the prk. He inspires us in a way.

God I hope the restaurant rumor is true since that would be awesome. Hopefully they will be right next to a new feature pool as well ;)

After he told us that I was looking at the contruction site and it is hard to picture where they would put the restaurants.....

Thanks for the report - looking forward to our first trip home next week.

I haven't spent a lot of time looking at the plans, but I suspect that there will be a good bit happening there that people assume ISN'T going to happen. This is the first wave of a new timeline for DVC and I am sure they will want it to be amazing to continue to draw in new members.

I am thrilled to own points at SSR! Can't wait to take those paths later this year to DTD. Some of my favorite parts of Disney in general are just wandering around. :)

Thanks for the report!

Stephanie, We had the EXACT same issue with the Epcot SSR bus. You can do a search under my name for my trip report on SSR about a week ago. Glad you had a great time any way. Did you enjoy being with family? We can't wait for our waitlist for more VWL points to come thru, so we can plan another trip! Thanks for the report!

We can only hope that the restaurants rumor will be true. I would like other options other and AP and going to DTD.

Erin that stinks I am chalking it up to it being new and the resort not at capacity. I am searching for your post right now :)

We were down there at the same time, and we also had to call for some paper goods. (Ha Ha) I loved it. First time at SSr home base. we were in Rm. 2132. Some view, very nice Studio. When DH and I went to the quiet pool we forgot the key to our room. Called the front desk and they got the key to us very quickly. That was very nice of them. And they Do need a family style restaurant. But we were so lucky with the weather we didn't want to complain about anything.

Sounds like you had fun. As a new SSR member that will be taking our first trip home in Oct, I have a coupel questions:

Did you use the kitchenette in the studio? How functional for cooking actual meals?

Does the sofa bed already have linen on it?

Did you have any special reservations that you got and what was your take on the CMs' "attitude" :p ? Did you get to talk to any CMs about how they felt about use DVCers? :badpc:

Thanks!
