Well if you want to read my opinion on the bus issue it is already up but now let me give my trip report.
As most of you know Ds has epilepsy and unfortunately he had many seizures this trip but the rest about that is on the disabilities board.
Now the trip. We flew out at 6;50 am straight through on Southwest. The ride was great the kids were awesome. It was the first time we joined up with family. There was a total of 7 of us. Me, Dh, Ds (4) SIL BIL DNeice (6) DNephew(4).
We split up at the airport since this wasn't palnned as being a family trip (last minute cheap flights and rearranging enabl;ed us to go together) So we went to our resort SSR and they to their's POR.
We were in room 1812. Top floor AWESOME view similar to the one we had in Nov except up on more floor. Clean as could be only some plates (only had 2) were missing and only one bowl for cereal so I had to call (puts me in the naughty category I know) they had the stuff right up for us. Since studios only have paper for eating there was no way we could manage with 1 bowl and 2 plates lol. But the room was spotless.
Since Ds likes to sleep with us it got crowded on the 3rd night and it was a perfect excuse to try the sofa bed. Dh thought it felt like concrete when he took it out. That worried me but when I moved to it myself in the middle of the night it was amazingly comfortable. You would have never known you were on a fold out sofa. Is it as comfortable as the bed ? Nope (how could it be) but definitely confortable and I slept well on it
No weird pains in the morning either.
We spent 2 mornings at the pool. The first being Tuesday of last week. They had games for the kids and the pool was almost crowded. Not bad enough to not be enjoyable but enough to make me rethink my opinion on if it will be big enough when the resort is at capacity. The CMs in the pool were amazing with the kids. The zero entry is an awesome feature for people with little ones. Between that and the two slides our kids did not want to leave the pool. Got laundry done while at the pool since the laundry facilities are right off the pool area. They are so clean. It was nice
We had lunch at Artist Palette and it was awesome. I had the blue cheese and Roast beef sandwich and Dh had the mexican pizza. YUMMY. The kids meal needs to have a little more nuggets on it (only four) Ds (4) could have eaten 6 but he had some of daddy's pizza so it was ok. I highly recommend eating there. It was great and the 10% off for lunch and dinner is a pleasant surprise. I never knew we received that...should check out my perks a little more lol.
The buses were on schedule and aside from the stragglers from DTD using the Congress Park stop as their transportation hub.....oops that another thread...the only "problem" if you could call it that was Epcot. Having the SSR and OKW at the same stop confused the bus drivers. We had 2 OKW busses pass before another said he could take us to SSR. Why didn't the others offer? I am not sure. Where was the SSR bus? I don't know but not too big of a deal we got back home ok
I used the gym and it is NICE. The equiptment is amazing. Too bad I was too worn out to do more than 25 minutes on the recumbnent bike LOL They had alot of nice work out machines as well as a ton of cardio equiptment. It was awesome. BIL paid to use it too since he was not a resort guest and not a DVC member it was $13 for him.
The walk from SSR to DTD is great. Having the entire area a 5 minute walk away is awesome! We also did the west side path and Holy God above that was LONGGGGGG! Nice but definitely a hike. We saw the boat dock and it is pretty nice also. We did not take the boat yet so it is something I cannot report on.
I am still really happy that we bought at SSR once completed it will be amazing. Alot of the landscaping was done on the newer buildings so I am not sure if that is a sign that they are ready to open yet.
We spoke to the DVC rep on the West Side during our stroll and he gave me some new rumors. He said that when SSR is completed in 2007 he said there will be at least 2 full service restaurants on the site. That not to worry it is not an oversite and DVC has them in their plans. He said that SSR will be their premier property and that alot of exciting things will be happening there.
Hopefully he is right but either way I love it there now and am sure I will love it more when it is completed. I cannot wait to go back. Even with people sneaking onto our busses j/k lOL.
Feel free to fire away the questions I know I forgot to mention alot.
