SSR or OKW?

There is a possibility for me and my family to visit WDW again in late 2007. If so, we will stay at a DVC resort. We don't mind about room size or anything else, except for the theming. Which one of these resorts (SSR or OKW) has a better theming? In December 2006, I'll visit WDW and will only visit (not staying) one of those resorts to have some preview. So, which is one has a better theming overall? TIA, Tommy.

OKW is themed like "condo community" with very "Florida-ish" pastel colors, lots of palm trees and palmettos.

SSR is themed to horses and a horse racing community. It just depends upon what sort of "theme" you are looking for, neither resort has "in your face" themeing like the regular WDW hotels.

If you are looking for Disney character theming ala Pop Century or All Stars, you won't find it at either. Both are luxurious community style resorts.

They are both very beautiful resorts but very different. I mean you have Key West, Florida and Saratoga Springs, NY, can get much further apart than that.

I would suggest you view the photos of each here, and other sites such as allearsnet and ourlaughingplace.

I do not think one is better than the other, they are simply different.

I booked a 2 BR for April at SSR. I am seriously contemplating changing to OKW at the 7 month mark. I am going with a group of friends and think they would like the atmosphere of OKW more. How much further a walk is it to DTD??? We plan on going there frequently. But part of me says STAY PUT !! Any suggestions? We do an all girls trip every year and since I was the one to suggest DVC, I just want everything to be great for everyone.

I am partial to OKW because of the size of the units, lush tropical landscaping, light colors AND LOWER POINTS(also because that's my home resort!). I did a girls trip last Nov. and loved staying in a GV at OKW. We did walk to the spa at SSR which was a real treat. The pool at SSR is more elegant than most at Disney and the lounge chairs are very nice (not the standard issue PVC-type). I love the Conch Flats area at OKW and find that it really relaxes me to hear the island music! To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with either resort.

People's tastes vary so it's hard to give fail safe advice.

We love (& stay) at both SSR & OKW. Theming is very different. IMO SSR's is more subtle, beautiful. At OKW there is no question they are trying to get you in the spirit of the Keys.
