Now that SSR has been open for several weeks, can I get anyone to comment on cell phone reception at that location? I am specificly interested in Verizon, but all comments are welcome!

Thanks in advance!

I know nextel works fine anywhere in the park or resorts.

We were there 2 weeks ago for 8 days and used Verizon without a hitch. No problem with reception either inside or outside.

I made calls from my villa in Congress Park every day we were there back in June. I don't remember losing any calls. I have Verizon

Just got back from SSR - no real problems with using our Verizon phones. They worked better on the balcony than in the room. It was so crowded and noisy in the parks that we could not hear our phones ring - had to switch to vibe/ring mode.

Have a great trip. :sunny:

Another Verizon member saying I had NO problems at SSR last weekend with service.

Disney uses lots of steel and thick concrete in their construction (they want everything to last a long time in a hurricane-prone state), so phone reception can sometimes be spotty inside any of their accomodations. Even when that's the case, the balcony will work fine.

Nine days @ SSR at the beginning of this month & not one problem with our Verizon connections!

I know the OP asked about Verizon, but since they also asked about others, here goes. My last two trips to WDW had very different reactions to cell phones. My first of two was with Sprint. I can honestly say I have never had worse reception in my life...pretty much anywhere on property was horrible. I could stand in one place with full bars and then take a 1" step and have no signal. It was horrible.

My last trip I had switched to Nextel and have never had better covereage! I know it helps that there are portable Nextel towers in various locations with all of the construction, but it was great reception.

My two cents...
