I'm wondering if (and/or how) anyone's been able to pull this off...

I'll be in a 2-bedroom at SSR this July.

Right now it's just me, my DW and our three kids (age 10). No problem there.

But we want to invite her sister and her three kids, ages between 9 and 12. So it will be three adults and 6 kids.

I guess my first question is...does DVC have a strict policy against this?

The second question would be...if I use all 4 double beds (one in the master, two in the second bedroom, and the couch), that leaves one left out.

Can I rent a cot from somewhere for the final bed? I know DVC doesn't supply them.

Thanks!

While debate rages on here on the Boards about occupancy limits, Disney is certainly not going to evict you, especially as so many of your group are small fry. Cots are not available for rent. There will be room for 4 in the 2nd bedroom, perhaps 5 if the kids can squeeze. There will be a pullout for two in the living room and enough space on the floor for a mat or twin airbed. The bed in the master bedroom is actually a king. You could easily fit a small child in there with you and your wife if the child is small and romance is not a priority. This info should help you plan on how to "fit" if that is what you decide to do.

Are you sure you want SSR? OKW is considerably bigger, I believe.

Your best bet would be to call DVC and pose the question to them. The posted occupancy is 8 plus one child under the age of 3. If you try to put more people in the room, you may run into limitations, such as with regard to the number of keys that can be issued for the room.

Or you could always try to get into one of those great, low point Grand Villas at Old Key West.

Don't be offended if this post gets closed by a Moderator. Due to the heated nature of many room occupancy discussions, a board moderator will likely close the post and refer you to the Debate Board for a more open discussion on the matter.

I just bought at SSR, that's why I will be staying there for my first visit.

I did call DVC, they didn't say anything about the limit, but they do not rent cots.

And if there are people who have objections to occupancy limits, I really can't say it's my problem. I'm not putting 20 in a room, just one extra 60-pound 4 foot-tall 9 year old. I won't lose any sleep over it. Others shouldn't either.

We'll figure out a way. Worst comes to worst, I can look for one of those furniture rental companies, maybe they can do something for me. The air-bed mattress sounds good too.

Thanks anyway!

I am not into the occupancy debate. Just an observation in the dedicated 2-br at we had at VWL. In the second bedroom, between the beds and the bathroom is the sink area which is HUGE, it can easily fit a small bed or something.

We did not have to worry about space because only my mother was staying the 2nd bedroom. But the place just seems to be a waste of space. In BWV's lock-off 2-br, there was no such empty space, probably was because there was no kitchenette or ourside door to take up the space.

Not sure about the layout of the 2nd bedroom in a dedicated unit at SSR. Maybe you can request a dedicated unit also to get more space.

I would go with the aerobed and consider moving as others noted to OKW to gain the extra space - there are tons of places in an OKW 2BR to place that aerobed!

thanks

You just need to get a twin aerobed. We used one once at VWL and it worked great. They are very comfortable and are easy to inflate and deflate. Look around, you can find a deal. I've heard overstock.com even has them.
It is also a good purchase to have anyway. My hubby plans on using it this summer to take buddies to his parents' lake house this summer. I'm sure it will come in handy later, too.
As for having enough room, we were able to put a twin in a studio so I'm POSITIVE a twin will fit somewhere in a 2 bedroom. They don't take up that much room.
Have a nice time at SSR!

And to think that people say our legal system is bogged-down with too many frivolous lawsuits. ;)

We also found a good deal on a sleeping bag with a built-in air mattress at Sam's. You might take a look there. It really comes in handy when we visit family with our DD.

tjkraz,
How funny! You must have read my post before I went back and changed it! You caught me!
:p

That is a common feeling among thieves.

I think these threads should be locked, I think its awful to have so many supporters of breaking the rules.

I'm staying neutral on the issues this time around. But I think you pretty much guaranteed THAT will happen. ;)

Oh, yes Richyams. ;) All us thieves got together at a convention in Orlando one time and we all "squeezed" an extra person into our rooms to help us out with our trip robberies..... Usually, it was a small child so that we could use them to crawl into small spaces for us. We are great masterminds. ::yes::

I feel sorry for the OPs in these posts. Who would have ever thought a simple question could cause such debate! I'm sure many newcomers were turned away from the boards forever....

When will this be closed?

Actually this you and I agree on. Policy should be noted and then the thread locked.

Funny thing one person adds one extra person, no big deal not like it's 20.

20 add one extra person to their villa and then it is 20.

Really no difference. :)

So you think most newcomers to this board are actually looking for ways to steal from their fellow members????

Wow, I don't agree. I think that most come to learn about DVC and get hints to make their Disney vacations easier and more enjoyable. I think you are wrong, but its an interesting take.

Two bedroom units hold 8 plus one child under 3 in a pak and play.

Occupancy discussion is not allowed on this board but you may feel free to continue it over on our Debate Board.
