Squeak, Squeaker, Squeakin'.....October 2014 PTR

Happy belated Canada D'eh!!!!

I crack myself up :thumbsup2

Ohhh those times changes! Yuck. I mean, the earlier flight isn't terrible since you're staying here overnight and you do get more time to play. But boo to them changing park hours. I saw some posts about it the other day and wondered what was going on.

I love that "Up" artwork. So simple and sweet. I saw a craft project on Pinterest where you use a bunch of different colored inkpads and make the balloons with fingerprints. I am going to BEG my sister to do this for me!!!

I'm joining in! I'm also taking a trip in "October"; and I've stayed at AKL before and LOVED it.I hope you don't have any major changes that I didn't read through when I was reading your PTR! I tend to skim! But I'm here from now on!

Welcome! Welcome! :wizard: No major changes missed, our departure flight was changed recently from 8am to 6:30am but only makes for an earlier morning. I'm sure I'll manage to not be my normal grumpy morning self as we are Florida bound! Yay for October trips! :thumbsup2 Thank you for joining in!

Buahahaha!! Honestly I have never seen it referred to as Canada D'eh! That is awesome!!:banana::banana:

I totally wanted to ask you how early you normally get to the airport to fly out. Website says 90 minutes. I think we're aiming for 60-90minutes, think that will be okay or should me make it a hard 90 minutes?

Oooh fingerprint balloons sound awesome! Especially if they are of nieces and nephews!!

Do I have to drink the shot of Maple Syrup or can I put it on something...LOL :rotfl2:

Sorry you have to get up earlier...that never seems to be a problem for me when it is time to go to WDW...lol! As you saw I always ended up waking up earlier than my alarm. I wish I could sleep in, but it never works out that way..."in the end"

I never asked but what realm do you play on wow? I know you play Horde, I was thinking of starting a new Horde alt when Warlords comes out because I like the way the new character mods look. On our trip in November our friends that live down there who also play wow, invited us to stay at their house for a few days so we can do Virtual Blizzcon...:rotfl2:

You can definitely put the maple syrup on something, I recommend vanilla ice cream!!

Despite not being a morning person leaving earlier is going to be a plus for us. We'll do our "drinks" stop before getting to Cabana Bay and now we have a little more time in the parks before it closes early for HHN. I wish I could get up early like you do!!

My mains are on Ravencrest although I haven't played in ages now. I'll probably end up playing when Warlords comes out. Looks like its coming out in December so should have some nice game time over the holidays...I hope. I do miss playing!

You guys! Its July! That means one less month to go until October and trip time! Woooooo!!!!

On friday we were at the mall and decided to check out some of the luggage/bag shops for a new back pack. I really wanted a new bag. Last Disney trip I think I carried it for half and day and it just was hurting my back(so does standing for long amounts of time :scared1:) so Andy got stuck with it and it is a pretty noticable bag.

Damn you green straps!! I also wanted to get one that has the snap that allows you to attach the two straps across the front of your chest with another strap. I figured this would help me when I carried it and take some strain off my shoulders. We ended up finding one in Sportchek! Had the strap, dark colors and it felt comfortable on both of us. Nice material too as I found some bags were scratchy on the back of my neck. Plus its a "cool" brand my nephews would like. lol

We also lucked out and found Andy a pair of new shoes! Sketchers Go Walks for men! There was a pair of Keens on sale but he wasn't crazy about them. Andy has flat feet so the key is shoes with no arch. Well I knew we did good on the Sketchers when he put them on and went "Ooooh!". So we both have a pair of new shoes for Disney(don't worry we will be bringing more then one pair!). So a few more things crossed off the list of things to get! Woot!

So I wanted to ask you guys about your experiences when flying and the security. The body scanning machine. Have you done it? Are you okay with it, do you feel comfortable or do you opt out and do the pat down? I was looking some stuff up about the Buffalo airport and came across some negative things about it. Thought I would ask what you guys thought. Hope thats alright. Always nice to have feedback from those you trust and not just the random internet.

And to leave you with something fun, I love this Disney video!! They did such a great job and I love that the dad is such a goofball! You can tell he's really into it(as is all of them). I warn you, you will want to make your own video after this! lol

Glad you got the new bag! I can't imagine carrying a backpack; what kinds of things do you put in there at the parks? Food, or extra clothes?

I tried so hard to like Keens but they just wouldn't grow on me either. I tried on about 10 pairs and they just didn't feel right, even though so many people swear by them! I have the Sketchers Go Walks for women and LOVE them, but I couldn't do Disney in them; not enough support for me! :) We go crazy taking shoes to Disney. I'll be taking Sketchers H2Go shoes with me, and two pairs of sneakers, and two pairs of sandals, and some other Sketchers I have.

When it comes to flying, I have no problem with the body scanning machine at all. They had them at O'Hare and I've gone through them a few times (I don't know if they're still there; I know some were being removed); just seems like a quick, easy process to me, but I also can understand why some people wouldn't like them and I understand the controversy. It just doesn't bother me, and I have nothing to hide so scan away (the idea of "looking naked" to someone just doesn't bother me either; I strip down at the doctors office as easily as I do at the gym! I wouldn't necessarily want my scans publicized or anything, but.....).

I'm going to go watch that video now! :rolleyes1

Yahoo new shoes!!! Cool backpack too! DC being a company that focuses on skateboarding gear, you'll get a double thumbs up from me :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Whoohoo for shoes and backpack! :cool1: So fun to shop for your trip!

I LOVE that video but I am also a little bummed, I already had planned to use that song and I have some fun ideas but I feel like every Disney trip video I see has that song now! LOL!

Yeah, I like to think I'm hilarious. LOLOL. I told someone "happy Canada Day, eh?" once and then the lightbulb went off. Hehe.

If you're able to do online check-in and will have your boarding pass printed out and don't have too much luggage, 60 minutes should be fine. It's a small airport and you don't have to take a fake-o-rail or anything like that. That early in the morning the security shouldn't be too bad. All that being said, I usually get there closer to 75 minutes early, just because I'm a panicky worrier!

I did the body scan in February and never would have known that's what they were doing. I'm not a fan of the concept AT ALL, but I'm even less of a fan of being touched. So if given the choice, I'll do the scan.

Yay for getting so much closer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pixiedust:

Going to watch the video now... absolutely LOVE that song!

I would love to not have to worry about a bag but I like to be prepared! My glasses(incase my contacts get itchy), extra socks, wipes, ziploc bags for whatever. Sunscreen(I must!), poncho. So, not too much. I'll probably try for a bagless evening though. :goodvibes

Thank you for your reassurances on the body scanner. I feel better now. Good to know people who have done it and are okay with it. I do appreciate that its for the security of -my- flight so i try to remind myself of that.

Thanks! I was happy with it being DC. My nephews are snow boarders and like the skater look so its nice that its useful and scores me cool Aunt points! :cheer2:

Shopping for the trip is the best!....next to going on the trip that is!!

Psh! Its an awesome song and you can completely make it your own! I don't think anyone could get tired of hearing it! Plus, umm, I didn't know you were going to do a video! Thats fantastic! I'm so excited to see it now!!!!:banana::banana:

Hmmm...when i spoke to Southwest they said I didn't need to print my boarding pass out and they would do so when we checked the baggage. But thats also because I did the early bird check in. I'll look into printing them out anyways just to be safe! And we will absolutely aim for a 75 minute window now to be there. Keywords "panicky worrier". Thats me too! :wave2:

yah, getting touched would not be fun either. I feel better knowing others who have done the scan now..

Thank you so much for the Buffalo tips! I really appreciate it!

Hello Disfriends! :wave2:

tumblr_lcm32hQAV61qcxi52o1_500.gif

So I was ready to get all posty with it on sunday and then "stuff" happened. Stoopid "stuff" getting in my way!! So here I am now!

You guys!! Less then 3 months to go and July is already half way through!:banana: So excited and a little nervous too! I mean you plan and you wait for the time to pass and then it will be over in a heart beat! Ack! Trying to soak it in and enjoy the time while I can still say "I'm going to Disney World!"

Plus need to enjoy the summer while its here, we all had a horrible winter it seems so can't have it over too quickly right? Our local rib fest is coming up in a few weeks and really looking forward to it! Especially as my brother is coming!! :cool1: You have no idea how hard its been getting him to come for a visit(We always go out there). We don't live too far. Maybe 45 minutes of highway driving with no traffic but most of the time it feels really far. And he is always busy, especially having two kids who are ALWAYS doing sports, but finally the lure of the ribfest was enough to get him here. He won't have the kids that weekend but thats fine, a great excuse to try and plan a sleep over with them later. I do worry that the boys are getting too old to want to do sleepovers, 13 and 11 next month, but then again I know how to bribe them, home made cookies, cupcakes and whichever else they want!

Back to the trip! FP+ selections are coming up next month. I have pretty much picked what I want, I haven't decided on times yet but probably early afternoon.

With that said I thought I would post an updated itinerary. I'm going to break it up though. So here are the first 4 days. Please let me know what you think and any suggestions!

Day 1 – Travel/Universal

Meals: ???
Our flight lands at 9:15am(now that Southwest moved our flight up!) where we will be utilizing the services of Tony Hinds, who comes highly recommended, to whisk us away to Cabana Bay at Universal. First though will be a stop to pick up some “refreshments” from the local liquor store. After that head to CB, check in and will either dump our bags in the room or with their bell services.
Expecting to hit the park by 11:30-12pm. Not 100% where we will end up first, I read that people can arrive early for Halloween Horror Nights and they may try to hit up Diagon Alley. So might try and hit that up first, maybe have lunch there, although if its too crowded we always have the next day as well. Studios will close at 5pm for Halloween Horror nights. IOA will close at 7pm. We will spend the evening at Cabana Bay enjoying the lazy river, maybe hit up citywalk.

Day 2 – Universal
Meals: Krusty Burger!
Early entry for Harry Potter. Its not 100% yet if they will rotate EE between Hogsmeade and DA. I’m hoping Hogsmeade will be EE and we can hit that up right away and then take the Hogwarts Express to DA. While I love IOA and the atmosphere more then the Studios most of the rides and things we want to see will be in the Studios and this way starting in Hogsmeade it will require less back and forth.
Lunch will be had in the Simpsons area. Looking forward to having a Lard Lad donut and Andy wants a Flaming Moe!(Er..Flaming Homer!) After enjoying the Studios if we have time we can hit up IOA for pictures and maybe Jurassic park and maybe more Harry Potter! Again the parks will close early for Halloween Horror Nights. Will either visit Citywalk or enjoy the resort again. City walk has a pizza place now(and we love to find good pizza places) but I wasn’t crazy seeing the menu and considering we will be at Via Napoli a few days later I’m not going to worry about it.

Day 3 – Animal Kingdom Lodge / Magic Kingdom
Meals: Sleepy Hollow, The Mara, maybe a BOG FP+?
Fastpass+
Mine Train
Big Thunder
Splash Mountain

Up early for an 8am pick up by Tony Hinds once again! Then we are off to Animal Kingdom Lodge! Weee! Expecting to be checking in by 8:45-9am. Check our luggage with Bell Services(unless our room is somehow magically ready?!) and then head to Magic Kingdom!!!
No ADR’s today. May try to get a BOG fastpass just to get some Grey Stuff(Its delicious!) but plan on having the buffalo chicken waffle at Sleepy Hollow for lunch.
Park closes at 7pm for the MNSSHP so will head back to relax at the resort and grab dinner at The Mara.

Day 4 - Epcot
Meals: San Angel and Food&Wine
FastPass+:
Soarin
Maelstrom
Spaceship Earth (or Mission: Space)

This is the date where the change in EMH’s recently had me adjust a little bit. Up early to be at Epcot for Rope Drop at 9am. Head to Test Track first and then get me a Cronut! Explore Future World, hit up Spaceship Earth etc. ADR at San Angel for 11:50(or earlier if we are ready). Head back to AKL for break/swimming. Return to Epcot for 4-5pm and do World Showcase and F&W for dinner!! Head out before Illuminations or maybe stay if we feel like it.

And that is the first part of our trip thus far! :wizard:

Well I had a nice little surprise in my email today! Remember the website I recommended with the awesome Disney stuff awhile ago? Society6, well got the email that they were doing free world wide shipping! :cool1: Considering that last time it cost $10 to ship just my iPhone case I knew I had to take advantage of it. So I ordered the 'Adventure is out There' print and the Heisenberg Mickey shirt. Actually when I was looking over the order the design is actually called 'Walt Disney' :lmao: Hee! It took me a second to pick up on it but it is awesome!

I also looked for a t-shirt for me but nothing I was in love with. Also I am leery on buying clothes for myself online, only a few websites get that honor with me. But since I didn't get a t-shirt I figured it would be okay to get a Disney iPhone cover! I ended up getting the Pocahontas one I fell in love with. But it was really close to the Ariel one. Next time though!

Went to the Running Room yesterday and I picked up some 'wick away' running socks to try out with my Go Walks. Honestly I just don't know if I'm crazy about how they feel with the socks. I think I need a more serious test run with them to decide. I got them in bright hot pink which goes with the shoes but it might be weird looking if I wear any other colored socks with them(The gowalks are a bit 'lowcut' on the top of the foot'. Then again I'm willing to wear crocs so I'm not really concerned with the way my feet look am I? As long as they feel good right? I also picked up some bodyglide at the same time. Want to be prepared!

tumblr_m55hhnL7wa1ro8qpo.gif

So last post I started out with some details on my days and so here is the rest of it!

Day 5 – Typhoon Lagoon
Meals: Boma, Leaning Palms/Typhoon Tillys, Mara or Giordanos
ADR at Boma for 9:35am. Originally I had planned on doing Captain Cooks for Tonga Toast but doing Boma on our last day wasn’t going to work(Don’t worry I’ll still get some Tonga Toast on this trip!). After TL will chill at AKL and either get Mara or will order in Giordanos!!! After reading GinaGinaBoBinas TR and seeing their meal at Girodanos Andy and I have been salivating at the idea of having one of their deep dish pizzas. I didn’t know they would deliver to the resort but thanks to the Disboards I now know they will!(or atleast they have in the past). We’ll see how we feel on the day.

Day 6 – Animal Kingdom
Meals: Flame Tree BBQ, Via Napoli
FastPass+:
Expedition Everest
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Dinosaur (?)

Another Rope Drop day, this time at Animal Kingdom. While I’m planning on having lunch at Flame Tree I might just have to get the fried rice from the Yak & Yeti walk up. Maybe grab that as a side and bring with us to Flame Tree. I’m hoping to catch Flights of Wonder and FotLK too. Once we are done at AK head back to the resort for a swim/relax and then head for Epcot and dinner at Via Napoli at 6:20. Now depending on how we feel and the time we might head to MK to catch Wishes or just head back home.

Day 7 – DownTown Disney/ Disney Quest
Meals: Kona, Ghiradellis
Fastpass+:
Peter Pan (?)
Others (?)

So this is supposed to be an easy day. 10:30am at Kona but I’m thinking of maybe popping into MK for some FP+ before our ADR(They do have AM EMH that day!). Get some Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards as well. We’ll see how we do on time. After Kona catch a bus for DTD and Disney Quest!! Thinking of grabbing a bite at Earl of Sandwhich or maybe Wolfgang Express for lunch. Do some shopping. Sundaes at Ghiradellis is a must do! Then head home or maybe check out the Boardwalk depending on the time/tiredness.

Day 8 – Hollywood Studios
Meals: Scifi Dine-In, 50’s Prime Time
FastPass+:
Toy Story Mania
Star Tours
Tower of Terror

Sleep in a little and be at HS by 10:30 and then lunch at Scifi @ 11:15. Do whatever, grab some must do HS specific yummys. Dinner at Prime Time for 5:40 and then Fantasmic at 8pm. Head home.

Day 9 – Epcot & Magic Kingdom (Last full day)
Meals: F&W, Ohana
FastPass+:
Soarin’
Mine Train
Splash

This is going to be Andy’s birthday day, its actually the next day but since that is the day we leave gonna celebrate it today!! I was going to do Boma today but with lunching at Epcot and then dinner at Ohana I thought that might be too much food! I’m actually hoping to head to the Poly for some Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks and then it will be off to Epcot! Hang out there, lunch around the WS and then head to MK at some point for some rides before our ADR at Ohana at 6:45. Afterwards head back to MK for Wishes and EMH! I honestly don’t know what to do with my FP+. Don’t want to spend them all at Epcot but I may not need them for EMH at MK right? I guess it depends if I can book them for EMH’s though. I suppose I’ll come up with a couple of different options and see what I can do.

Day 10 – Leaving Day
Meals: Tears and sorrow
I was tempted to book a late flight home so we could spend more time in the parks/resort but since we have a two-three hour drive after landing I didn’t think we would want to do that at 9 at night. So I’m thinking ME will be coming for us around 8am for our 11:15am flight. I do have an ADR for 7:30 at Boma on the chance that it’s a later pick up though. I can always cancel it once we check in and they give us our ME pickup.

So those are our days! I don't see much changing from now till then. I did send Andy the link for Food&Wine events but nothing interested him but that might just be cause he was looking a the prices! lol. I'm kind of hoping he won't want to do anything so I don't have to change anything, but I didn't want to get there and him say the words "Well why aren't we doing that?" lol.
Any ideas or suggestions you have please let me know! :goodvibes

I really wish I could make it over to the Harry Potter areas this trip. I am thinking I need to plan another trip next year just for that!Your plans sound good.

Yay on getting free shipping. I hate paying shipping. :thumbsup2

Day 10 – Leaving Day
Meals: Tears and sorrow

:rotfl:So sad but so funny at the same time.

Did you see that they released a little more info for the Food & Wine Festival! I am getting so excited for those menus to be released!! I can't wait to pick and choose all the fun things I am going to eat there this year!

:rotfl:So sad but so funny at the same time.

Its so hard to tear yourself away from the Disney bubble and just fit it and Universal in! I wish I could add a day on to our plans. Andy just gives me a look when i suggest it especially cause he already added a day on for me. :rotfl:

I whole heartedly back you on a trip next year! :thumbsup2

I know they released some event info and I saw some foods mentioned for a few booths! Looking forward to seeing whats what and then start the snacking around the world plan! nomnomnom!! Can't wait to see what you plan on too! (So I can steal some ideas muahahahah!)

I have so many comments that I don't know where to start really. Most of them are just random comments about how much I love your food selections!

I don't like wicking socks at all. I can't run in them, I can't walk in them. I have one regular pair and one padded pair and they are pretty much ignored in my sock lineup unless I haven't done sock laundry in a while.

I have a ton of SOTMK cards that I'm trying to figure out how to display. I'm thinking about getting a poster-sized frame and mounting my favorites. Have you guys never played, or do you collect as well? I love taking my mom because she gets a pack too and gives them to me.

You're right that you don't want a late flight if you have to drive all that while to get home, but it IS sad. That last day is nice to have if you can.

lol, always nice to hear I have good food selections! I'm kind of worried though that I'll fill up too fast and not be able to eat everything I want! lol, Disney problems I tell ya!

Good to know I'm not the only one not crazy about the socks. Going to have a more serious test drive with them this weekend though just to see how it goes.

Have never played SOTMK! I'm pretty excited to try it out, although a little sad cause we probably won't be able to devote too much time to it. I like the idea of mounting them! You could always use scrap booking paper too as the back ground and have alternating colored squares! Either way you should definitely post pictures of the results on your PTR!

The scrapbooking paper is a good idea! I won't be able to do anything for quite awhile because I'm moving soon. Those cards will be packed up somewhere for awhile unless I could get it done in the next month or so! I'd like to use picture edges so that I could change the display whenever I like and put new cards up. I had the idea to mount them with my pins, but I did something different with my pins and a shadowbox. After this trip, I'll need a bigger shadowbox for more pins, I'm sure!

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are having a nice one! We ended up doing crossfit for the first time ever yesterday! We have friends who go to a crossfit gym and it was having a bring a friend day…more like torture a friend day! Lol Happy to try it out and see what it was all about but man, it is tough! Its basically intense cardio at its core with muscle building/toning thrown in. I can see the benefits of it and its nice because everyday is different and you always have the instructor there leading you and showing you how to do it. A nice change from just the usual gym machines. They had us running(I jog, not run!) and throwing a medicine ball back and forth with your partner, thankfully mine was only 8lbs but Andy had a 16lb one, swinging kettlebells, rowing, burpees(which are tough!!). So we are a little sore this morning, but you know a good accomplished kinda sore! Lol :goodvibes

When we got home I had been planning on making some chocolate dipped/covered bacon but all I could manage was showering, changing and not letting myself nap. Lol. We had invited my brother to come out and go to ribfest with us. It was nice! It’s been two years since I spent time with him without the kids or other family members around so it was really nice and the ribs were yummmm! We followed it up with some marble slab!(Birthday cake ice cream!!!). Oh and I totally had leftover ribs for breakfast!! Muahaha!

You guys! Getting so close to August which means almost time for FP+ reservations and online check in! I have to admit I’m a little nervous about FP+ and picking the right times and attractions. Is anyone using touring plans(.ca)? What do you think of it? Honestly I find it difficult to customize it sometimes, either it’s not getting the park hours I put in right or not accepting the ride changes I make. But I’m thinking of still mostly following it(in Magic Kingdom). Which means we’ll be starting in Tomorrowland when I know I will want to start in Adventureland cause that’s where I always start! Of course I’ll be checking ride times on my phone before we get there which will help gage where we actually start. What about you guys, are you using touring plans?

So I got bit by a bug on Friday night, the Disney t-shirt bug! It is all Denovagirl's fault because she is making these amazing t-shirts for her family’s Disney trip and finally on Friday I couldn’t resist it anymore! One of the shirt sets she is making is His and Hers kissing Mickey and Minnie shirts. So I thought okay, I should just go ahead and try to make it, despite me being very uncrafty. But later on in the evening I found myself on etsy(thru a dis-members sig cause I was curious) and then suddenly I am looking at iron on transfers for t-shirts, mostly the digital download kind, and what I would need to do that. But that led me to looking at vinyl decal iron ons and wow there is some awesome stuff out there! And its something I think that I could even do! ::yes:::scratchin

The Kissing Silhouette (The Mickey would be on one shirt and Minnie the other)

I’m not 100% yet if I will try to make the kissing Mickey/Minnie’s myself or order the decals. But I am sure I will order some decals to make a special birthdayboy t-shirt for Andy!! Heehee. The front will have a Mickey hat and say Birthday Boy underneath and the back will have a little Mickey head and will say “I can’t keep calm its my birthday!” which is totally Andy, he loves his birthday! (He won’t know about the shirt though until I pull it out for him to wear on our last day) There are a few more decals that I have favorited that I may end up getting. Like Mickey head with a witch hat or a luau looking Mickey head. Can’t forget that I will probably pick up a shirt or two in the parks that I can wear that week aswell. So today we are going to Target and Old Navy to look for some plain t-shirts to use with the decals.

Oooh I also couldn’t help myself. There really isn’t any Kronk t-shirts out there, and Kronk is Andy’s favorite, but I came across this one last night. And I was going to wait to get it(the other t-shirt I ordered from the same site hasn’t come in yet and I wanted to see how that fit him first) but today is the last day for free shipping on the website and while I’m sure it will happen again I can’t be 100% so I just ended up ordering it this morning.

And that is a lot of t-shirt talk! Lol! I’m pretty geekily excited about it though as you can tell. Just nice to have Disney projects to think about! Hope everyone is having a great day!! Thanks for listening!!

I haven't tried crossfit... but I've heard the horror stories. :scared1: :rotfl2:

I've never used any of the touring plan websites/books/etc., but I most often go in September and it's just so quiet that time of year that I've never needed to. I usually just wing it and go wherever I want whenever I want. :confused3
That Mickey and Minnie silhouette is adorable! I love DIsney t-shirts. Never made one myself though. Andy's birthday shirt sounds so awesome, would love to see pictures!
Also, that Kronk shirt is awesome too. :thumbsup2
