I bought a new iPhone 4 for my son last year when Radio Shack had them for $149 with 2 yr renewal. Even though he's pretty good with his electronics now, I still purchased a warranty for it thru Square Trade. Fast forward to last Thursday when when he dropped it in the toilet! (Ewww!)
I was in Disney but I gave him all of the information to log into my account and make the claim. Within a day they had approved the claim and sent a refurbished iPhone 4 to replace the damaged one. Plus a prepaid label to return the bricked phone to them. The phone arrived Monday but he had already left to go back to college, using an old iPhone (original) until the replacement came. I shipped the new phone off to him and he just got it. Says it works perfectly and has no problem with it being a refurb. since his damaged phone wasn't brand new anyway.
If I hadn't had the warranty, it would have cost me nearly $350 plus another extension on my contract to replace the phone with AT&T. This only cost me the price of the warranty ($99) and the deductible ($50). I'm so glad that I spent the money to cover all of our phones.
